eGPU Testing and teardown coming up in the next video. What other things would you like to see tested?
Emulation
ummmm @ 2:55 the RAM is at 750GHZ ???? lol .. just a lil typo there :)
I want u to using oculink in one xplayer2
Please put teardown as a standard in all videos. I care about the inside more than outside. Thanks
"Jailbreak" with linux installation 😆
Plus some compatible tiny keyboard for this.
Thanks for the thorough review! We appreciate your insights and will definitely look into your suggestions. Stay tuned for what's next! Cheers!☺
Finally, been looking for a review for this. Thank you.
what do you think
The lack of a high refresh rate vrr compatible display is disappointing, but the 65.5 wh battery is nice
That's why the rog ally is still the best handheld still.
I'm just trying to get my games to play at 60 fps as is...high refresh rate is just a number. If you use an eGPU that's a different story but for that I already have a full-sized gaming PC anyways.
Yes, as an Ally owner who also had a lot of other PC handhelds, battery is the only thing i envy to other devices, i hope Asus announces the new Ally 2 soon and that they increase the battery size to at least 55Wh like the MSI Claw which has a pretty similar form factor, also a slightly bigger display, like 7.5 inch would be nice
@@bbwlc high refresh rate is actually a must in retro games. That's a small niche, I don't mind 60hz either. But why not have 120 instead of 60?
@@miuletzmitzu6641 must in retro games? How? I've always played retro stuff in 60hz, just recently played some retro games in 120hz. Found almost no difference.
I'm rocking the original OXP and it's still awesome...I can still play any game out there
Hey ETA I really would love teardown and just a simple teardown just to see that cooling system would be awesome!
Okay no problem, Ill put on in the Full review.
@@ETAPRIME Nice!

I would love to see how Star citizen runs also act3 of bulders gate 3. Great video thanks!
Thanks for new device always, you are the fastest reviewer of UMPC
Love the looks of this thing
This looks great 😁
looks amazing. Super happy that the hand helds are making a major come back and all that fun stuff. ps always look forward too your new videos. hope Sony Makes a new type of Vita or some thing some time soon. not that portal type
Microsoft more likely to make a Xbox portable than Sony Vita 2.
@3:00 That 750000MHZ ram must make the GPU GO ZOOM ZOOM ;) hehehe kiddin
I think you have blurred the wrong part ETA haha!
You only need to blur one of the zeroes to make it 7500mhz
high latency ram.
I have the OXP2 and the OXP2 Pro with the 7840U.I love them both. They are great for working from home and after the children go to bed I can still put on the controllers and game. Perfect for me. I may pick this up as well on a sale but for now I am set with the other two. I can only recommend it.
$1k for a 60hz fps? The ally is a lot cheaper and better lol
@@jponz85 That is true, though not with 8800U. The Ally has its benefits, so does this. I prefer this for working from home over the Ally.
There is no reason to say the ally is better than a handheld pc that has its own controllers and has a 8.1 inch screen and a bigger battery...the 60hz fps is not a freaking deal breaker unless your tryna game Profesionaly on a handheld which is stupid..you guys really need to relax with the specs when you can't really tell until you look at the info....each device has its pros and cons just say you dint wana spend the money...lol thats really what i see when people say something is better lol don't the rog ally burn sd cards too naa ..my man hands are to large for that nintendo switch 7 inch sized display na I mean legion go might be better but rog na...and what's even worse you can't even use a egpu on it na no go
Love to see that battery life, over 2hrs of gaming at 20W is awesome, i hope Asus will put a bigger battery on Ally 2, 65Wh could be a bit too much, but at least 55W is needed
60hrz with no VRR??? What a huge missout! This is fantastic news for me because I would have been pretty tempted and a bit jealous with my Legion Go sitting here lol the 32gb ram must be giving much better headroom for the GPU though.
Indeed but the price ahem
Stem Deck OLED screen is far superior to this IMO
@@GhostGamer799 that is a relief as well lol
bro on portable devices, it's not that important and you won't notice it as much. switch selling like hot cakes and nobody cares about that, but on pc i agree thats where vrr and hz really matters

Wow! 750GHz RAM
Oh yeah this is perfect 👍🏽
I’d like that and wall paper with the color changing thingy
The editor are going crazy at those ram speeds! xD
ooo, so close. a 1920x1200 120Hz VRR screen and I would have for sure purchased this
with 350 Nits? naaaah bro, this is trash.
@dasoul3710 bro on portable devices, it's not that important and you won't notice it as much. switch selling like hot cakes and nobody cares about that, but on pc i agree thats where vrr and hz really matters
@@draco2xx It makes a huge difference. A premium device should come with premium features, otherwise it is low-mid tier.
@dasoul3710 you do have a point, but the features that are lacking will eventually be available. pc handheld just now kicking off so give it some time but lot of people dont seem to care when you see how well the switch is selling and it dont even have half the stuff these high end pc handhelds got
@@draco2xx The switch isn't selling because of the hardware, they're selling because of the exclusive games.
Why the F would you pay for this when there are alternatives that are cheaper and better.
I have Lenovo ThinkPad P16s AMD Gen 2 laptop with a Ryzen 7 7840U (just the onboard RDNA 3 780M) - the APU a gen behind this one featured in this video. Amazing piece of silicon imo. This looks like an amazing handheld - even if it is a hefty one.
I like that it has 32gb of ram and I don't see why they don't all do that just so theres plenty of vram available without using up half the ram... The sweet spot in the ALLY seemed to be 5gb VRAM which ended up with only having 9 or 10gb ram available
Great video as always. Love your content. I was planning to buy legion go. Now after watching this video not quite sure which device should i go for. Also can the joysticks be used separately like that of legion go?
I know you play a range of games on things to see how well they perform, but there are a few other things I'd like to see. 1. How well each of these can run Destiny 2 an be for non-gaming machines. 2. How well they perform doing other tasks like running programs such as Fusion360 or their use for like a mini NAS.
10:50. Turning of turbo boost help a lot on Ryzen APUs. The easiest way without software is reduce CPU speed in Windows power management to 99%. Now you got 99% base clock and mor power for the iGPU. It really helps at 35W CPUs.
Running Cyberpunk at 24W with Display is crazy.
I have tested two games Judgement and Lost Judgement on my Legion Go at the lowest possible TDP, it's amazing and I wanna see if this device can achieve the same. Bazzite latest, BIOS 31, 800p low settings, FSR Performance mode, Integer Scaling, 10W TDP, lock it at 36FPS, package power consumption was at 17W, if I turn down the brightness a bit and turn off WiFi, I could run these AAA games for 3 hours!
Just wow
the wattage profile is pretty awesome between games based on graphics demand.....gyro seems more useful for flying/racing, how the Legion Pro dealt with FPS aiming seems pretty cool (swear im not a paid actor)
This thing is awesome! I would love to see 120hz, brighter screen, oculink, and 9inch screen on next one! After playing with ally and x1 it needs faster refresh and brighter screen/slightly bigger screen. Aaaand controllers with extra buttons like x1. Better fan controls omg lol is what it needs.
they'll have those features next year or within 2 years
I got the original oneXplayer 2 with the 6800u and tbh I don't even use it as a handheld anymore more. I got the keyboard attachment and a portable mouse and logitech camera so now it's just a mini laptop for me. I dont even know or care where the joycons are. Still cool but considering what I paid for it, it wasn't a smart purchase. The ROG Alley quickly replaced it as my handheld pc for so many reasons. And was alot cheaper since it was $200 off during the holidays.
Nice get bro.
Picking one up.
wow the price of it , thanks for video
This seems really cool. I like the battery life of this and that it has 32gb of ram, definitely more headroom for shared memory. But I just bought a Legion Go a couple of weeks ago and i still play my OLED Deck a lot so I'm fine for now with handheld PCs. If i hadn't bought the LeGo i definitely would be tempted, but that price point is a bit rough.
i got mines for 759, its on sale
I like having a hybrid tablet/laptop/handheld/desktop, But I'm more interested on gaming PC tablets now after seeing minisforum v3
Finally someone thought of a detatchable joysticks thx god
Someone made a Legion Go already.
@@LemonTreePHsomeone already made the first onexplayer 2 (non pro) with detachable controllers, before the lenovo legion go was even out!
@@LemonTreePHlegion go ugly design✋️🤮

Similar specs to the Minisforum V3 which will hopefully be in my hands this evening.
This is the future of gaming and im here for it

man 5 years from now, going to be crazy😮🔥. i think sony will have their own portable device too
so in these 8840u, can you disable the the AI cu's? if they don't benefit gaming might as well turn them off.
I'd like to see the source for some of those animated wallpapers. How about a video on that someday?
It looks awesome for sure, but if you're thinking about adding an egpu to this, you may want to rethink your life choices. For less money, you can get a decent phone, a decent mini desktop, and a controller and use moonlight/sunshine to connect the phone and desktop.
750,000 MHz RAM at 3:00 :) (he said 7500 which is correct - still funny though) It's a decent looking device, and I like the big screen and all the IO, but that price is certainly not competitive against the Steam Deck. At 8:45, the 8840 outperforms the 7940 for the same reason the 7800X3D outperforms the 7950X3D in games. The dual CCD architecture of the higher-end processors costs it some performance.
ETA would be nice to see how compares against the Naroo minipc, can you run similar benchmarks?
When they do an extreme version there won't be any need for a gaming PC anymore. Ideally it would be great if they had a large gaming monitor & console combo so you can switch between the two. Or a docking system attached to a souped up external GPU.
if you test No Rest Forg The Wicked, at the moment, I use SD OLED and think it may be a good option to swap. thanks
Hopefully they've fixed the ejecting sdcard slot. Had to return my Onexplayer due to that. Bit of a pain, despite the device being awesome.
Cant wait for fuild motion frame to work on low wattage
Just wish they chose another color than the orange, or atleast gave more options, also wish the refresh rate was higher. But looking forward to see how it performs
I'm big fan 😊😊😊❤
This is actually good enough to be a portable PC for everyday work use instead of a laptop
The exhaust coming out of the vent smells nice? I'm getting used to the smell of the steam deck and need something new
No, sadly it's not going to) The only peace of tech that smelled like SD was my old Toshiba notebook😤
Es como la OneXplayer X mini solo que un poco más pequeña y sin el puerto Oculink. Hasta ahora creo que la OneXfly es la más equilibrada lo único que le hace falta es tener una pantalla con refresco variable.
The Lenovo Legion Go is a no brainer over this.
Based on what
@@tygur23 worse battery life, no pen support. Less ram and storage. The only think it has is a 144 htrz display and is marginally larger by 0.4 inches, and is a bit cheaper
@@oo--7714 your horribly misinformed legion go has a 4900MAH battery this has a 65mAH legion go has 16 hb Ram Onex has 32 gb ram Legion go has 1 tb storage Onex has 2tb of storage. This thing was already blowing everything out of the water before the chip upgrade Lmfao.
The pros and cons are crystal clear. My main issue with this handheld device is it's 32GB of RAM being clocked @7500MT and the limiting factor of a 60Hz panel. It seems nonsensical to have such large RAM capacity available without a display that can fully utilize it. This seems like a poor design choice to me, especially when you consider the fact of it's great battery life.
@@certifiedcasual128 i love my legion but one x 2 is next gen. Better ram, cpu, better hdd.... It is full size so it is easier and cheaper for replacement in the future. The only negative is the display but that's what they had said about lego at the beginning as well, isn't it?
Wish something better than the ally would come out I'm ready to upgrade
I compared the 3dmark tests with my Surface Book 2 that has a 1060. The IGPU isn't as fast as a 1060, but it's getting close. For instance in timespy the 1060 is about 1/6th faster.
The first one xplayer has been the best IMO for a long time despite the Intel chip. I think One netbooks didn't take a serious update missing the chance to add oculink or a newer screen. Probably there will be something better soon, hopefully an X1 with this chip.
Thanks ill hold off on getting anything for now. Aya just releasing their 8840u unfortunately thats it.
I have this device I like it a lot. One problem I’m having is driver compatibility issues. It seems to crash when ever. It’s running windows update sometimes and I also found that it would crash while downloading steam games and it would crash and freeze while watching videos and fullscreen on a browser. I found a fix for the browser related crashes. I disabled MPO overlay I disabled hardware acceleration. I had to force my browser to stop using it that solved browser related crashes of the device. However, I still have crashes and freezes although they’re Less frequent. I reinstalled the OS three times and updated all drivers. Not sure what to do. AMD needs to make better drivers for this device. It seems to have issues issues with the RNA three graphics.
I really wish these companies would include VRR in their handhelds
Patiently (and desparately) awaiting an in depth review. For 1200 bucks 60hz screens and barely an hour and a half battery life.... makes it very tough to pull the trigger. Need more information or to wait for thesr thigns to have 120hz screen as standard with the power to push a steady 60fps in heavy games and a smooth 120 in easier games
I like this one
How well does it preform while charging and playing in terms of maintaining cooling? I'm playing on a steam deck oled but I can't really make use of it as it overheats after about a hour cuz there's to much heat and to little cooling
Over the lenovo legion go do recommend this one
It looks like great device, outside of what I would pay for handheld (gaming) device, but I would assume small production numbers make that this costs 1049USD (this is pre-order price, it will be 1399USD).
Wonder how this compares to IPad and Android tablets performance wise
Hope the new rog ally will come with a 60hz that will be a game changer for the battery, and its anough for playing games tough
I briefly had an ROG ALLY and I honestly don't understand why they didn't go with a 65wh battery, it would have been so much more appealing..... It was super light anyways, a little more weight would have been fine.
Just curious to know how you think would compare to the Legion GO?
Does fluid motion frames utilize the NPU for more performance/quality?
I feel these windows handhelds really need the track pads to navigate Windows. I know I use them on the steam deck for chrome and KDE. Do they convert a joystick to a mouse?
harman certified speakers? Omg. I'm buying two kek
like the reviews @ETAPrime- but hopefully a constructive bit of feedback- reading through a long list of specs that you put up on the video is not really watchworthy - what would be great is if you could pick on the highlights form the list - for example the APU, or what is missing (ports etc compared tot he other devices in the class.and spend the time elaborating just that - ie where the differences are for that piece of kit, the why not the what so much - so that the viewer can gain a sense as to how there might be interest in this product over say competitor. another example could be to highlight the real world impact that the change has by suggesting this for a lead in to the later parts of the vid- ie benchmarking- anyway my 2c - and I do enjoy the vids nonetheless.
Nice unit specs look great, shame they didn't go with a 1080p 120hz display, would have been nice, but we cant have it all :) have more than one USB-C port is awesome, I dislike putting all eggs one basket.
i would love to see these controllers on a windows tablet 10-"13" with a 60 or 70 dedicated gpu
I have the 7840U oneXplayer pro 2. The performance from the benchmarks posted seems to be exactly the same as the 8840u.
If I recall correctly 8840 is same exact chip with some ai module slapped on top. Because you now, gotta slap AI on everything these days or it won't sell.
no its not, it's actually 35% more powerful
Hi
When did you do the mw3 Benchmark? Because I tried for the last two weeks and I’m not able to start it, I think it’s bugged.
Packing is cool as fook..
The best ever all in one handheld pc but also 1 of the most expensive 😅. I wish i can have this latest onexplayer so i will never need a laptop or switch or any handheld or anbernic. Hehe
its on sale 759, go get one

Heyyy could you tell us the name of the themes used in the end? At least one of 'em?
Is this basically just a lower cost/power Legion Go?
mate where can we get that wallpaper which is running in background :)
The price gets me.
I think the only thing with 8840U is that it has improved the 10W performance over 7840U. The NPU probably shares with the GPU and people won't see any benefit from it in games.
Nice! I might get this or the Legion Go & i am happy no linux installed on these beast of a a machine.
They could have atleast out 120 hz screen

ROG ALLY is the way to yo
And kegion go depends which gorm factor
Just saw the price. The performance was pretty impressive compared to my ally, but I guess I’ll just have to wait till the ally 2 comes out to upgrade. Fallout 4 performance is pretty bad and very power consuming on my ally, let alone anything newer.
We need a device like this with 4g sd card compability
I think the Go is still better, the controllers just do more.
This would be a good ROG alternative though, but it's still missing additional mappable buttons.

Do you do emulation showcase anymore?
Hello ETA please can you test games like Helldivers 2, Mortal kombat 1 and 11, Monster hunter world and RISE, dead island 2, diablo4 ? to make them look pretty with graphics but also with enough FPS to play normaly playable without lags thank you ! and how much is this handheld better than Asus Rog Ally z1? Thank you!
Feels like ROG ally , and lenovo legion are charging us more money for their brand names , so I refused to buy 1 from them.
Ayaneo ,steamdeck , and onex player are likely the best value options. Charging us based on their production costs ,and not extra on the brand names 👌.
