Yes, it was. There was originally Fort Dodge, built to help keep peace on the route west, then a man built a sod home there and the rest as they say, is history. Dodge soon had a railway which brought Texas cattle herds north to be sold and shipped back east. Sorry for the lecture.
@@elynhamilton8972 Thank you. Just researched it too, apparently a Frenchman named Cadillac... with ties to French royalty, credited with establishing a fort in Michigan - unfreacking believable. What a history dive, lol.
@@wanderpump you got me there. I don't know a thing about Detroit. Western history I know. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas , etc. I know about. And I didn't have to research Doge City...I have family there.
@@yoman3857 its the time period the phrase makes reference to, but I doubt it would have been a common phrase. Back then what went on in other towns generally wouldn't be known to most of the rest of the country for weeks, even months, or years. It would be the equivalent of having a character in 2002 throwing out abbreviated phrases like lmao, or lol. They would be from the time period texting was available, but before common usage. Now, could be this character in the movie is from Dodge city, or has a connection to it, but i think that would be stretching it a bit.
@@joemurdoch4138 okay, I'll take that, and I'll raise you that it's a movie made in modern times, so they use modern language. People back then didn't have southern accents, but you're hung up on that phrase? Lol c'mooooon
I think it's best just enjoy or hate a movie for its plot and characters, and not get caught up in the nonsensical logistics. Because if that's actually your dig, go watch that romeo+juliet with Leo, that shit was a fucking nightmare to sit through lol
I got you beat. I made it to 56 minutes LOL but part of that time I was sitting on my cell phone on Facebook because it was boring. That was about all I could take
You're just slapping names together. Just because the Donner party went cannibal, that doesn't mean that inspired the Wendigo. The Wendigo legend is far older than some unfortunate pilgrims
The film score ruins this film. Im halfway through the film and its just putting me off. Doesn't sync with whats happening at all. I never thought film scores matter that much but in this case its does.
So I started to watch it but turned it off as soon as the guy tripped over a tree branch and got killed.. Try something original as that has been over used for so long now.
apparently it is so hard to find interesting stories that these days things are thrown in the mix to try to find something worth watching. Western-horror-fantasy is this 'new' try. It is not for me so I'll skip this one.
It could have been really good movie, but the monster "WENDIGO" thing was amateur work, sorry but that is my opinion ( i know it is about money, i know that, but hell , that is what was all about..BLACK WOODS freaking scarrrrrry - WENDIGO and it was terrible and disappointment. it should have been a such good mask that everyone have nightmares weeks after watch! There are so many excellent artists today, ideas, sketches about how Wendigo suppose to look, and after all we have tens of encounters ( with that being , genuine encounters and by description it is very tall, and very scary, but this guy in the movie blah, meh.... wasn't ...I imagined 9- 12-15 feet tall monster with long branches like hands whatever...tin but tall with antlers , ( but in every clip in the movie it looks so small and that was not Wendigo, it sucks MAN!
Awful....Really awful B-grade film... It's a shame because some of the actors are good actors and the cinematography is nice...It's just such awful writing and cheap special effects ruins it... The corny dialogue most of all... UGH! Not worth your time IMHO.
I watched it for about 30 minutes and then i quit. It is a very shitty movie with almost no special effects. everything is just low budget bs. I was looking forward for this but its extremly dissapointing.
Hmm maybe the editor for this trailer should have edited the movie! The acting is awful, the editing worse, the dialogue is atrocious but it may be the only thing for a viewer to laugh at unintentionally. I gave up and shut off this stinker in the first 15 minutes. Just terrible.
Nice to see Bates Wilder starring in a full length film. Man put his time in.
More than a handful of Westerns have been coming out lately/soon. Its nice to see there are more than just supe fans getting some love at the cinema.
I was thinking the same thing. I’ve recently gotten into Western/ranch themed movies and tv shows and I noticed a lot have been coming out lately.
A western and a horror in a blender on full spin, ill think ill add this to must see!!!
Got a Bone Tomahawk vibe here.
I already found this movie in that random DVD bin in the middle of the aisle at Walmart next to the rotisserie chickens.
that's funny but they would never press this movie.
i can't believe it's getting so much love in these comments
lmao
Blackwood is a remake of Joe Baker/Sondra Locke's movie: The Shadow of Chikara, or Curse of Demon Mountain.
Thanks for the info. It would be nice to see the two movies, to see which one is better.
This trailer looks so good... I hope the actual movie won't disappoint.
Got that Bone Tomahawk vibe.
That movie.... Wow, yeah... Brutal.
Exactly what I was going to say.
Looks like The Knights who say "Nee" in the fog
Love a good Western, and this one looks good.
Shades of Bone Tomahawk...I'm excited.
That movie still give me the creaps,
That cave scène...brutal!!!
Oh, this looks good. One thing though. Was Dodge even there at the time to, get out of?

Exelent 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐
From the font design, this movie seems ok.
Better be REALLLLLL careful when looking for THIS title on the internet......Real careful🤣
Was hoping this would be Algernon Blackwood having to contend with a Wendigo, but looks like I'm getting half of what I wanted.
Interesting but is it good?
I love westerns.
Looks good but pretty thin storyline. There's a monster in them there woods 😂
Tbh, that's all I need.
Which is most every monster movie plot ever... so, your point? Lol
Filmed just outside my home Town of CUSTER,SD
" Fucken Awesome " 🤠
Cowboys and Indians all coming together for the sake of gold
Sounds good 😂🤣
Now this looks interesting very interesting 🤔
I could be wrong but I don't think they would have been using the phrase "get the hell out of dodge" at that time.
Yeah... they would have. This is the time period the phrase came from

Should i watching this??
Red Dead fans officially celebrating!
Going to watch tonight. I hope its got real horror in it. Not just a guy dressed up trying to scare them off.
So how’s your experience,
This BBC movie has some strange foreplay.
Is it a windigo or bigfoot movie?
the story is real...but what they didnt tell us is that the monster is the feds not the devil 😂
Interesting...
Bout time they made a good sasquatch movie....
Pretty sure this is another wendigo movie.
@@mikes5637 Yep agree looks like a Wendigo
Made it halfway through this mess, I want my 49 minutes and 37 seconds back.
Terrible movie and I like the western/horror genre. This sucked...
I'd rather get punched in the face than watch it again.

who the heck is this guy Bates Wilder. I can't believe he's 60.
Anybody here remember the movie, Ravenous, with Guy Pearce? I'm getting Ravenous vibes.
What a film that was, brilliant
I'm guessing it's a Windego (inspired by the Donner Party)
You're just slapping names together. Just because the Donner party went cannibal, that doesn't mean that inspired the Wendigo. The Wendigo legend is far older than some unfortunate pilgrims
And this movie definitely isn't Wendigo. May be a skinwalker though
Wendigo?
HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!
I do hope they sign on some real musicians for the soundtrack. Otherwise looks very cool!!
Imagine if it said black lung 🤣🤣
bone tomahawk
I still get creeped out about that whistle
Cool. looks like wendigo.
I think the same , Wendigo , not Bigfoot
Yeah, Your Right !!
The only thing in those woods is cheese. And it’s not cheddar.
I'm really needing a good western to watch... unfortunately this is not it
Alec Baldwin ?
Better than a little injun gal hunting Predator
Skin walkers are coming!
The film score ruins this film. Im halfway through the film and its just putting me off. Doesn't sync with whats happening at all.
