  • Before we hit Sand Hollow again, Joe wanted to get some beadlocks on the talon to allow him to confidently run low pressure. We reached out to ‪@rmatvmc‬ and they hooked us up with a set of Tusk Megabite tires and Tusk Uinta Beadlock wheels. In this video, we'll get them installed and give you our first impressions.

    I'm a year to late but the 4+3 will give a wider stance over the stockish 5+2 offsets.

    I bought the Megas for Trail machine. Ride alot of shale and granite..wet..slimy. wanted really good side walls grip because have to put tire against steep ditches to grab extra traction.. On our 5th sxs and like these the best for my riding. Maintained their height even at 12psi. A domed tire keeps better tranction in our terrain.

    Should have used some TECH 735 bead seal on them. Good attention to detail getting the balance dot at the valve.

      What size did you go with on the teryx 2. I'm looking at the 28x10-14 all around.

    I run 5.2 offset wheels with 30 inch m1evils and notice alot of fighting in travel. To eliminate this I went with 2 inch spacers on rear and gave me 1/4 inch on each side over measurement of front. I believe the oem offset is around 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 on rear. Made a huge difference in handling. Hope this helps!

      @@DerangedOffRoad Np!! Also I left out that you can also use 1 1/2 spacers. This will be 1/4 shy oem total width of front. Now people are complaining of shearing lug bolts with spacers due to lug bolts being to short. I went to a local O'Reilly and orderd lug bolts that were 1/2 in longer. By doing this you have alot more threads for nuts and shank will be 1mm larger so it will be tighter, and still can use same lug nuts. If you have any questions I'll try to answer the best I can!

    2:55 Correction they are actually 32x10x15 but I’m sure everyone knows that or would figure it out eventually👍

  • @danphillipsrealestate8805

    Has anyone run these in mud and snow? If so how did they perform?

  • @CaseyRussC
    @CaseyRussC Před 2 lety

    Carnivores are DOT approved. You also need DOT approved tires in Utah the first time you get the street legal inspection done. After that it doesn’t matter. Just did all of this in the last year.
    I look forward to seeing what you think of the megabites after some use.

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 2 lety +1

      These are the only requirements by the state of Utah in regards to tires on street legal sxs.
      “(xvi) tires that:
      (A) do not exceed 44 inches in height; and
      (B) have at least 2/32 inches or greater tire tread.”
      If the inspection place told you otherwise they are misinformed.

    Curious if they run pretty small like the Terrabite.

    Terabyte vs megabyte what are you buying if you can only choose one

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 2 lety +4

      Depends on the type of terrain you ride. Terrabites are great for hardpack, desert type stuff. They perform okay in some muddy situations, but they aren't great for back east wet muddy rocky type riding They run great on paved roads as well you should get several thousand miles out of a set. Megabytes seem to be a softer compound. They wear faster in the rocks, but they grip really well. They should do better in the mud with their big lugs that are spaced out further than the Terrabites. Joe will be doing a more in depth review about his megabytes later after a few more miles.

    Do the Megabites measure true to size? I had the Terrabites (loved them) and I think they actually measured about an inch less than advertised. Looking to go back to one of these Tusk tires after the Dirt Commanders on my RMAX2 wear down.

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 2 lety

      They measure the same as the terrabites. At 10 psi they’re 30.75”, at 15psi they’re 31.25”. -Joe

      @@DerangedOffRoad I bought them right before a trip to Hatfield and McCoys. We rode mostly green and blue trails. Even though they are 8 ply, they puncture rather quickly. I only have maybe 400mi on them, got 2 punctures and had to buy a new tire already. The factory Bighorn 2.0's seem to work just as well.
      I know accidents happen, but I expected alot better.
