Should Christians Be Involved in Politics? | Episode 39

  • Political involvement can feel like an ethical minefield for Christians. In most elections, no candidate on the ballot fully represents Christian values. Considering this, what level of involvement should Christians have in politics? Should Christians run for office, donate to candidates and causes, or volunteer to be part of political campaigns? What guidelines should Christians consider when casting their vote?
Dr. David K. Bernard answers these questions in light of Scriptural teachings and principles and makes the case that Christians can't afford to be absent from the political arena, especially when the cultural stakes have never been higher.

Here in Canada it feels like if we don't get involved we will never get to have church without these ridiculous restrictions ever again. My prayer for my "leader" is found in Psalms, "let his days he short and another man fill his office".

Thank you for the content & conversation.
We are living as lights of God's Grace, mercy & work of atonement in this current world.
The embodiment of the New creation, as active members of Christ body, here & now.
The great crisis we face today is the failure to effect ,influence & impact our culture to Christ.
The constant compromise & placating to absolute reprobates, modern humanist global elitist, that DO see & understand the nature and existence of God. For they have seen the evidence on a macro as well as on the micro scale.
They are simply full of wickedness, the lies of a great Satan, the opposer, the adversary of God.
They carry forth the spirit of Cain, Nimrod, Korah in his rebellion against Moses, the spirit of Pharaoh when he knew the Hebrews God to be the supreme God yet still had a hardened heart that pursued and sought to subdue His people.
Hitler, Stalin or Mao who caused such great devastation & loss of life. Having to go to great effort, & cost both in human & financial capital rising in opposition until they were defeated.
    They're always defeated in time,
it's just a matter of how much damage they cause in the process.
God's laws are immutable and God does not change.
It is true the Bible is full of examples of government & corporate leadership and involvement from of course the Mosaic law to the likes of Daniel and Esther and today as freedom was purchased at Calvary, the temple vail was rent in two. Allowing free access to God.
Freedom is placed in the depth of every man's soul and from that time on we have received the privilege & blessing to live better lives testifying & preaching the whole gospel to every creature.
Now continuing to pursue lives of influence in our culture at every level from the lowest mundane jobs to the loffty towers of government and finance. While staying faithful, true, humble, kind and wise until the day He calls us home. May the blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ be upon us all.❤️🙏

  • @leenancy9871
    @leenancy9871 Před 2 lety

The unapologetic open support of Trump by some pastors and churches has been very divisive. Because pastors feel what they say and do is directly from God, and the reality that there is little to no organizational accountability...many churches are intentionally or through default participating in politics. Christian Nationalism is thriving in the UPCI.

    • @hargisP2

So you don't put your family first. When someone is for the good of their fellow countrymen first is not evil. Funny how someone thinks that people want the best for the United States is somehow evil. That is evil thinking. Nationalism is not a dirty word. It when one try's to make the whole world live according to their dictates, and that is what the globalist are doing. And the UPCI is a wide range of positions, but we don't force one over the other, and we know the important stand is for God and His salvation. You don't know UPCI.

We, as the church, should do better at pointing out the results of voting for specific politicians. If they support evil policy, they should be called out , and it should be directly said which one is more in line with Christian values.
I also think pastors share their pick.

This man is utterly clueless. No, a true Christian certainly would not be involved with the politics of this evil world since those of us who truly possess the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ understand how God’s kingdom is not of this world. This is why Jesus did not get involved with the politics of the Roman Empire.

@mikerutkowski7265 Those that possess the Holy Spirit, should have righteous anger over the evil in the world. Jesus was on a specific mission which He accomplished. He is now in control of all that is taking place. He appoints kings, and leaders all over the world. None do anything without His allowing it. Silence in the face of evil is evil its self. @@hargisP2 you are completely ignorant and deceived and you have no idea what the word of God is relating since you are choosing to reason the way that this evil world does. When you chose to vote for a politician you are choosing a mortal man to rule over you instead of God and you are no different then the Israelites who desired a king to rule over them instead of God.
”Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah, and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day-with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods-so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.” So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who asked him for a king. And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.”“
