Another ‘no nonsense’ share - thanks for the good work. Shame they don’t make those plush mic bags in human size! Very snug :)😊

Yes, It’s great on snares as well, fatter than a 57. It handles eq well too.

Just for clarification,, is the recording signal chain for rhythm guitars going through the API's and then to protools? And then the rhythm guitars are being mixed through the germanium? Love your vids. Cheers.

Yes that is correct. I recorded the guitars through my api 312’s straight into protools. Then on the playback side I’m playing the tracks out of protools into my console. I have the Germ Comps inserted prefader on the rhythm guitar channels.
Hope that helps clear things up!
      Thank you!

Hey Steven, Another great video! (Much appreciated) Question of curiosity though. That 3 pack of BAE 312's.... what OP amps are in them?

      Thanks,
I have over 30 old api 312’s that came out of vintage api consoles. They all have their original opamps. Studio Systems Division, Melville’s, Farmingdale’s, and Huntington’s. I don’t use them all but I love them so I always keep a good amount in my studio racks.
I have one pair of Brent Averill 312a’s I got a few months back that have the Avedis 1122 opamps. I got em off the original owner, he never used them. I didn’t really need them but he sold them to me for $300, so I bought them.
I have spare stock of old api opamps and transformers, so I could always swap out for whatever I want but I like them how they are. They’re a little different, a tad cleaner and a bit more compressed sounding, but I like them they grab transients fast and have that more modern api sound.
Currently I have the pair of 312a’s in the 3 space lunchbox with an old 312 that has its original Studio Systems Division opamp.

Have you tried the CAPI vp312's I'm curious as to how they compare to the O.G, API 312's@@RiotHomeRecording

I’ve owned many capi 312’s and I think they’re great! My vintage Heider 312’s were used to make the capi Heider 312’s. And those are great too. I had the prototype here for a few months before they were released.
