The next episode of the new season of the Webby award winning Official Prince Podcast is out now. The roots of The New Power Generation extend back to Prince’s childhood growing up in North Minneapolis. Founding NPG members Tony Mosley, Sonny Thompson, Kirk Johnson, Damon Dickson, and Prince’s high school girlfriend Cari Price shed light on what the community meant to Prince. Produced in collaboration with Paisley Park Enterprises, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Records the new season of the Prince Podcast will include 4 episodes detailing the formation of Prince’s band The New Power Generation and the creation of his chart-topping 1991 album. On October 27 the Diamonds And Pearls deep dive exploration will be released via all physical, digital, and streaming partners, with the classic album remastered for the very first time, and featuring 33 previously unreleased studio tracks, live audio, as well as a previously unreleased 2+ hours of video concert performances from Prince’s legendary vault.

He was So Supremely multi-talented, his abilities were Endless!! & So much that Prince did was so instantly & naturally created, rather than having to be planned out!! The first time i saw him life was in Amsterdam in the 80s he was raw fearless and most of all a brilliant entertainer i knew from the get go he will be around for a very long time...best concerts ever 💜...i consider myself a lucky one because i grew up with his music and witnessed how he grew into one of the greatest musicians ever 💜...what a loss..the day he left us the world went dark.... Several songs from this era that in my long time super fan estimation have been forgotten. Prince's version of 'Ooh This I Need' which was given to Elisa Fiorillo 'I Am', dating from 1990 but with no question has that NPG band/D&P sound. Prince's version of 'Standing At The Altar' that was given to Margie Cox, and we also forgot Louie Louie's 'Get Blue' from his 'Let's Get Started' album! Louie Louie attended Arsenio Hall for Prince's first appearance promoting D&P, I was there. I think worth mentioning.
We also forget that most of the tracks on Prince's The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale (1999), should also be considered part of D&P's era. When The Lights Go Down, Old Friends 4 Sale ('91 Version), She Spoke 2 Me, It's About That Walk, 5 Women, Extraordinary, all stellar songs from this era! Even IF they were already released, they should have been included on this SDE.
AND, the complete '’ll Do Anything' tracks, which is an unreleased soundtrack for the movie 'I’ll Do Anything'. I'd even throw in those 1990 Nude Tour Japan soundcheck footage because Prince already working on a new direction during that tour with the NPG band and you can hear the Diamonds & Pearls sound developing and manifesting itself. Fantastic.
Anyways, my two purple cents, otherwise, this is such a great classy, stylish era. Prince was hyper productive as always, constantly creating songs from the era's soundscape themes and inspiration! He just kept iterating more and more songs once he found that D&P groove with the New Power Generation band.

Not ungrateful for this SDE, but the draw of a "deluxe edition" is Quality Vault tracks from an era that deserve to be released. PARADE 1985-86 for example. D&P not so much, imo 🤷
I love Prince, but this is an example of just how bad Prince's music was in the 90's. So cringeworthy. I do not know what happened but this is beneath him.

For me this was a low point in Prince's carrier, it didnt work and spoiled what would've be otherwise good songs, like willing and able for example.
