Wow, this guy has some strong feelings about old sled design eh? What if I am riding a 1969 Olympic one lunger? Or a 1973 TNT? For real though, I dislike the rider forward design. Sure it makes the sled handle a little better, but at the expense of convenience. I have a bunch of early 2000's ZX chassis sleds. It's Last year that Ski-Doo had just one hood panel as far as I know. I am not a fan of spending $15k on a sled that I can only use between one and 3 months a year here in central Maine. If it is that low use a toy, I would rather buy a bunch of $1000 sleds that need some work. That being said, I also do almost 100% trail riding. As long as its comfortable and it turns when I want it to and can do over 60 if I need it to I am happy with it. Pretty low standards admittedly. I paid $500 for my last sled. $2000 and $1000 for the 2 before that and I am happy with all of them. Also, despite you not thinking so, all this info is still correct for adjusting a 25 to 30 year old sled, you just have to make sure everything is still functioning as designed and not clapped the F out.

It will work on the older sleds just not nearly as effective. The modern sleds have much better weight distribution, admittedly at the cost of being harder to work on!

@@PinkOrangeProductions Well now I feel as if I was rude. I apologize for that. Not often that a creator replies! I just want to say thanks, I do find the video helpful. Not a lot of these videos have all the info you need on suspension setup concepts in one place. They tell you how to replace or adjust a part, but not why it's designed that way. Good tutorial!

    I have a 2020 Yamaha VK professional .
Not using it for mountain climbing, but when on ......say the driveway or bare ice it wants to go on straight when I want to turn.
The front shocks are screwed halfway.
Will screwing them all the way down to the stiffest setting cure my problem?

Really that sounds more like a carbide issue, are the runners under the skis still good? On a bare driveway almost no sled will turn properly, but on bare ice a good set or carbides do the trick! Also keep in mind the stock carbides are usually not the best either, upgrading to a decent aftermarket is want I would do, either Woody's, SnoTracker there are a few options but don't go full aggressive. Ski pressure doesn't seem to be your problem here.

      @@PinkOrangeProductions thanks for your reply.
Actually the factory carbines fell....came detached off the wear bar on 1 side and since they were putting deep groves in the pavement in my driveway I decided to put just regular wear bars on the machine BUT before I put them on I welded rebar on to them making them double thick. (High)
But I don't want to destroy my paved driveway, so I guess I'm stuck with the regular wear bars cause they don't do any damage
      Thanks again

@@byronwoolfrey1039 every consider roller-skies? They are easy to use and steer awesome on pavement and won't wreck your pavement. We've used them and love them!

@@PinkOrangeProductions you mean skis with wheels mounted to them?
I did look at a set that mounts to the skis that flip down and up for going over bare ground but the setup looks so ugly, I passed on them.
I only have to go across the garage, out the driveway and across street, then I am on the trail. Was very careful to have this ability when buying my house.

Maybe! A couple years back the cross over sled was booming! But then people realized it's not the best off-trail or on-trail, kind of OK at both, better solution..... buy 2 sleds
