This was very nostalgic for me, I think my sister Barbara loved this show. She's now passed and it gave me happy thoughts of our childhood. Thanks Adam!
I love these TV and Movie filming locations. I really like the way you look for the smallest of details to try and match them up together after all these years. Great vlog as always.
I always enjoy your filming location videos. Brady Bunch was a daily show for me back in high school (along with Gilligan's Island!) Watched your entire video. :D
I made a computer generated tour of the Brady Bunch house, adding ceilings and all 4 walls. It has over 139,000 views. czcams.com/video/PJ6x-VkGeEc/video.html
The Brady House DID have a quiet life for ten years before the Brady Bunch came along in 1969. This tri-level ranch home, located at 11222 Dilling Street in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, was built in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Luther Carson who were Southern California real estate developers. The couple had this home custom built in the Studio City area when their previous home fell victim to the construction of the Ventura Freeway a few miles away. The Carsons resided and raised their family there quietly for a decade until Sherwood Schwartz, producer of the Brady Bunch, came knocking on their double front doors in 1969. He propositioned the Carsons to use the exterior of the their house as the home for the characters of his newest television production, a series that featured architect Michael Brady and his newly blended family consisting of three sons of his own, a new wife with three girls of her own, a live-in maid, and a shaggy dog. Mr. Schwartz thought the Carson house, as viewed from the front elevation, exemplified the idealistic home that an architect would self-design and raise a family in. A deal was made with the homeowners to feature establishing exterior shots of their home only, with the agreement to never do interior or recurring filming on the premises. Therefore, all exterior shots of the Carson house were filmed at several different angles from the street in front of the house over the course of one or two days in the summer of 1969, and the same shots were inserted into individual episodes through the entire run of the series. A false window was temporarily hung on the front A-Frame section of the house to give the illusion of two stories, and a window to the right of the front entryway was covered to fall into alignment with the floor plan of the studio set under construction at Paramount Studios in a different part of the city. Two vehicles were provided by The Chrysler Corporation, a blue 1969 Plymouth Fury convertible, and a tan 1969 Plymouth Satellite station wagon, to portray the Brady's vehicles as they pulled into the driveway, parked in front of the house, etc. All interior shots were filmed on a newly constructed set, depicting a fictional interior of the Brady house, on a soundstage within the Paramount Studios compound . Since the soundstage set was already designed and under construction before the Carson house was cast to portray the exterior of the Brady house, some modifications were designed in after the fact to mimic certain elements of the exterior facade, such as the raised foyer with double entry doors and faux stonework to match the real stone veneering on that on the exterior of the Carson house. The exterior shots of the Carson house continued through the five year run of the Brady Bunch series until 1974, yet the Carson house did change ownership in 1973, fourteen years after it was built.. Mr. Carson had since passed away, and Mrs. Carson chose to sell her home to Mr. and Mrs. McCallister who agreed to the continuing usage of the establishing exterior shots through the remainder of the series, and also subsequent Brady series as well.

I noticed it was for sale a few weeks ago and the realtor mentioned in the article that he was probably going to get a lot of people who just wanted to see the house and not buy. Wonder how many calls he’s gotten by such people. I loved that show. One of my favorites.
I didn’t add a comment at first, the Brady Bunch was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I wish I could buy the old house. Thanks for the memories.
I grew up watching the Brady Bunch, every Friday night- it was Brady time 8pm!!! Im glad i grew up in that era of simple, wholesome living!! Today, the world is so different !!! Im 56 now and can still catch an episode of the Brady Bunch and enjoy it!!!!
At a young age I was always sort of confused about that external shot of house. Because the 2nd story shown is on the LEFT side of the house. However the soundstage version shows the staircase and 2nd floor on the RIGHT side of the house. Major OOPS on the producers there..
That what I thought the whole time. I thought you came into the house and you saw the stars in front of as you came in but as I got older I realize it is to the right inside but from the out side should of been to the left.. Also the back yard should of been straight back from the front door not all the way to the left.
@@bobxx6396 I made a computer generated tour of the Brady Bunch house, adding ceilings and all 4 walls. It has over 139,000 views. This link is for the main floor, but I also take us up to the attic in another video. czcams.com/video/PJ6x-VkGeEc/video.html
That is true, but if you look at recent pictures on Google, it looks like they are remodeling the house. The brick fence along the sidewalk has been removed and a real window has been installed.
If I remember correctly, I read once upon a time that the missing window on the side of the house was not real. They didn't like the look of the house and thought it needed a window, so they added a faux window. If you notice in the picture on your phone it doesn't seem to be flush and protrudes a few inches from the face. Thanks for the vids WooMan
It’s really awesome to see what all these filming locations look like all these years later, as well as where they even exist. Keep up the awesome work on videos like this!
I Loved that show. That is so cool to see where it all ACTUALLY took place. Thanks for a VERY nice trip down memory lane !!! Plus I had the best childhood EVER, Thank The Great Lord in Heaven !!!
Big hi in appreciation for this vid,,,Like many others I grew up in England watching the Brady's and many other American programs early 70s onwards,,I live for 70s stuff and seeing this is awesome,,,Many thanks for showing this iconic place,,,I recently got the Brady box set though had to get a multi region DVD player to watch, worth every penny,,,,,fab vid, many thanx
Adam, you’re awesome at what you do. I regress to my innocence, times were simple, times were good. You bring joy to the masses! Peace ✌🏻 and love ❤️ from suburbia Detroit !
Adam, the Beverly Hillbillies mansion is up for sale too. I don't know how close you can actually get to it but I'd love to see you do a video about it if you could.
I enjoy watching these vlogs it shows how America looks at this time in present and the outside world away from the big cities thanks for showing the Brady house 👍🏽
Adam stated the window was covered up ..when it fact the window was just a prop, hung up there for filming . The way it looks today is the original look ( with no window!! ) Good catch to all of you who noticed that !!
Technically, the show sold this as a 3-story house if you consider the staircase that led to finished attic. That would have been a massive house with the all the rooms they feature on the show (Den, Kitchen, Laundry Room, Alice's Bedroom, Dining Room/Living Room, Mikes Office, Boys BR, Girls BR, Master BR...and do you think there were 2 baths downstairs...1 for Alice one for guests? - minus the baths, that was 10 rooms)
You're correct. The window was a prop affixed to the exterior of the house to make it appear to be a two story home. It's not a 2 story at all, it's a bi-level ranch style home
Thank you for showing this vlog. I saw the showing when they brought in the crew from HGN to remodel the old Brady Bunch home, at least what it looked like on the old episodes. I didn't know that the house was for sharing. Hard to believe that 50 years had passed. Makes you feel old!
The Window on the left paneled area was a fake added for the show. A new window appeared to the right of the door since then. As to why they used another location for Mike to come down the steps and check on Carol, the owners of the original Brady house would not allow Paramount to do any more filming there after the first season, primarily due to the increased tourists/foot traffic on their property.
Thanks for covering this! Every time I’ve ever been house hunting, I always hope to find a Brady Bunchish replica. No luck so far. Wish I could swing this, lol.
Just have to Thank you Adam I lost my husband 2 years ago and am unable to get about due to illness, you've shown me places I would have never seen, it makes a huge difference to my day again, Thanks.
I'm always amazed at videos like this and of course I, like many others, grew up with them and have an attachment to them and these places. What amazes me the most is how some things strangely look the same. Sure some things are gonna change but many don't all that much. Like those trees for instance, they don't appear to have changed! Unbelievable! Believe it or not!
Awesome Adam!! It was my favorite show back in the 70s. I was in love with Maureen McCormick s hair. Lol. This vlog I will keep in my files.peace to you.

Houses from the 60's and 70's had so much more character than houses today.

The window was never really there. It was fake. It was placed there for the show to make what is a ranch home appear to have a second level.
That is true, but if you look at recent pictures on Google, it looks like they are remodeling the house. The brick fence along the sidewalk has been removed and a real window has been installed.
The window you mentioned, was a prop window.
Terry-That's what I was thinking. It seems to really stick out and look different from the other windows on the house. Good eye!
Right and they purposely made it small to give the house a larger appearance.
What a beautiful shot of these homes. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I think “Sam and Alice” would be a fun spin off.
Your right the house, and mountain are still very sketched into my memory. Love how it was all done in the San Fernando Valley. Thank you Adam.
Where ever you go, there you are - Mike Brady. Adam thanks for all your awesome videos..
Love everything Brady ,,,, thanks for sharing this video with us all.

Thank you for this video and all the work you put into it.
Mom always said "Don't play ball in the house." RIP Florence. A good family friend.
She was 82 and heart attack or something like that. Dad knew her.
I had heard that the window on the left was a production addition and actually fake.
No, it was definately was added for production. It just laid over the spot. No hole was made in the wall.

Joe Auger I wonder what the reasoning was for adding a fake window when there’s plenty of ready made 2 story homes. The mysteries of filming 🤔
You're correct. The window was a prop affixed to the exterior of the house to make it appear to be a two story home. It's not a 2 story at all, it's a bi-level ranch style home
