Folleys Korner: declares it's self the most unusual house in the world
The Winchester house: hold my beer
That was my thought as well lol
Kay L. Yeah, mine too, and I live in Winston-Salem.....
I thought he was talking about the winchester house too🤔
All I could think about was how much fun Hide & Seek would be in that house.
It is very fun to do lol 😂😂
@@michaelward6409 I'm jealous 😂
@@KP-vg3zn The local community theater performs shows in the top floor theater too.
6:35 A Mickey Finn
Oh heck no.. that house has to be full of ghosts..
That theater at the top was absolutely amazing. I love stuff like this. I would fit perfectly in this house with my short as hell self lol.
Yes, the Winchester house is said the be the strangest house in the world, but we have seen that featured on Discovery Channel many times. I have never seen this one before. As for not being shown until the end: it is easy to skip ahead on the video if you want to. Thank you Adam for showing this lesser know attraction.
Yes, I know about the Winchester house, who doesn't? Q: Where is this one located, again? It s quite beautiful,...! I love every thing Victorian,..! Do you know what Steam Punk, Is? I had a very, bad day today,..! The day from, hell, actually,..! I am simply tired of people, telling me, what I am unable to say,...! There s a little thing, called the first amendment,..! The knee doctor that took me, 2 months to find,.. my called me, 10 minutes, prior to my appointment, and stated, that the entire office, is no longer covered by my insurance,...! By then, I was in extreme pain and agony,..! Watching video s like this takes my mind, off, of my major problems, for at least a little, while,...!
Evona A Grochowski Korner’s Folly is in Kernersville NC near Greensboro in the Piedmont Triad. I -40 starts in Wilmington NC and goes West to Bakersville CA- it goes right through Greensboro and Winston Salem and Kernersville is right there.
@@evonaagrochowski8006 I'm so sorry you went through that and I sincerely hope things are going better for you since when you wrote this. I am dealing with my own medical nightmare right now and also have a lot of pain issues (back) so I can really sympathize. All the best.
@@evonaagrochowski8006 That's a Donald Trump rant. Cousins?
We try to keep our weirdness a secret around here. We are so behind the times. Its strange but lovely and great people.
The "decorative swirl" is just how the marble rye bread looks. it wasn't put on there for the sandwich lol
thank you
Having eaten a few myself, I can confirm that. 🙂
Stop ruining the illusion! _Let them have this one!_
(Terry Gilliam mumbles) it’s just a piece of bread.
So much old stuff..like the Shell gas station! Cool. All these people complaining that you should just show the house obviously need to relax a little. I appreciate you guys entertaining me (FOR FREE!!!) so thanks for going & don't change a thing, I like tagging along with you guys on your adventures!
After doing a bit of research, this house is older than the Winchester mystery house. It was called strangest house before the Winchester house became famous. Also, they didn't give it the title, that's just what a lot of people called it.
Angela Perez thank you! I'm not sure why everyone feels it necessary to continue to talk about another house. I don't normally read the comments but if this is what people do on every video I can understand why Adam gets frustrated.
Has anyone ever taken the time to actually count how many stair cases are in the house ?
The Strangest House In The World Tour starts at 10:38.
Fuckin A!! Thank YOU!!
Thanks so much!
Thankyou!!!
THANK YOU!
I was hoping this was here!
That was pretty cool!! I think the key to this place is that he was an architect. I suspect this was kind of his "sample portfolio", where he could show clients features they might want in their own homes he was designing. Kind of like those carpet sample books where you look at different colors and patterns to pick out what you want, but built into a house so you could see the example in "3-D", even if sometimes in a miniature scale.
That makes sense
The famous Carson Mansion, of Eureka, California, was built by a lumber baron who apparently wanted to showcase the product of his mill! It is an amazing example of Victorian architecture.
where is this house? I had a dream about this house 20 some years ago and it's one of the most vivid dreams I've ever had. I was even talking to my husband about it less than a week ago. This is insane.
It is in Kernersville, North Carolina; I grew up there.
TheMrsBeagle this is so strange, I had a dream about this house as well, years ago, never knew it existed until now ! It was one vivid dream!
Voluptuousvixen past life memory?
Maybe you and that other commenter here both lived there as family in a past life. And now you’re reconnecting here. Stranger things can happen.
I have dreams like that ALL THE TIME. Thought I was the only one! What do you think causes that?
I hope you and the Carpetbagger continue to work together! Very interesting AND great energy together! Now subscribed ! And watching here in Ireland! Hope you guys come here to explore!
The Winchester house is even stranger. There are stairs that go to nothing.
I'm bugging
You guys are hilarious together.
Thanks for this. One of the best exploring vlogs I've seen. really enjoyable and informative.
Kernersville is a beautiful small town. I pass by this house all the time but never been in. Thanks for the video.
I grew up in Kernersville. Many beautiful homes were unfortunately torn down in the 1960's.
Was the guy who built this house Sarah Winchester's cousin? LOL.
My thought
Lmfao
@KELLI2L2 Santa Clara, CA.
Yeah, I was just thinking almost the same thing. That house does remind me of the Winchester Mansion in California. But whether there's any connection between the two houses, I couldn't say.
Who is Sarah Winchester?
"look at the top of the toast there, they did like a little decorative swirl" ...also known as Rye bread. hahaha
Ha! Yes, marble rye. He must have never seen it before.
marble rye.
KELLI2L2 not pumpernickel. That’s solid brown.
@@KitKatToeBeans You're blind. It's rye with a swirl of pumpernickel.
So devastated. We missed you at Epcot by minutes this past September. Then we missed you in our very own home town of Kernersville. Crushed, had a feeling you were coming to the Folly.
You and Jacob make a good duo. Nice job fixing the sunglasses!
Loved that house!!!! I'm short, I can live there as made to measure 😁
I was born & raised in the great state of North Carolina👍
Korners Folly in Kernersville!!! I have been there a few times and love that beautiful odd house. While you are in the area you should also check out Old Salem in Winston Salem
Amber Teachey old salem is beautiful at christmas
Who woulda thought a house like that was right in my back yard! I live 20 min from here! So cool, from Lexington💜
This is more of the Woo that I enjoy. Not so much all the Disney, but rather just visits to strange, out of the way places. Plus teaming up with Carpetbagger is always cool.
personally, I found the first 10:43 pleasant. nice tour.
tysm for the time stamp
Very impressive but "the Winchester Mystery House" in San Jose, CA. is stranger.
Going to Old Salem? Very neat place of old times
Can I just say, there seems to be a lot of hate in the comments because you didn't start at the house straight away, but I really enjoyed my unexpected trip. I've not yet visited America, when I do, it will probably be to New York, I may get to see Vegas one day, I may get to California or other 'tourist traps' I doubt I will ever get to see the places you just showed so I'm really happy I stumbled across this. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of it. Many thanks.
people like being assholes. No life.
Different areas in the US are different. My father was military and we moved all over. Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, California, and they are all different. Different local cultures. I went to college in New Mexico and after graduation I went to NYC for a job interview. I spent about a week there and I hated it. It felt like a totally different country to me. lol In the job interview they more or less asked if I would help with studies to illustrate the effectiveness of the Mayors crime policies. lol They were all but flat out asking if I was okay producing junk science. lol Anyways, if you do visit, keep in mind that NYC is an entity of it's own. It does not give you the feel of the US. It's certainly worth a visit, it just doesn't represent the US. NYC is NYC, it's very different than other parts of the country. Different states have a different flavor to them. NYC is an entirely different restaurant. :)
I was confused at first as well, but I found myself fascinated by the first part of the journey. Several videos later, I ended up subscribing. I'm glad I found this guy!
The house doesn’t look that big from the outside!! Amazing
Two best things on CZcams... have a great day to both Jacob & Adam. Creepy house.
My Public Comment is: Right on! Ya'll keep doin what u do, its awesome 2 see all the historical americana 😁
The daily woo rules
Awesome building! The style of architecture of this building and the Empire State building as well as the Chrysler building and Radio City Music Hall in NYC is called "ART DECO"! There is also art deco jewelry for women and cosmetic cases..it was very popular during the 1920s and 30s into the 40s and is still around today! The designs were very angular and geometric! Great video...thanks for sharing!
'
Brenda Drew Yes, I have a 1920’s Art Deco key chain makeup compact with makeup and lipstick still in it, it was a gift from a high school b.f. who got it at a antique shop. It’s pretty cool, I do have it up for sale right now though, no interest, lol.
This is not Art Deco. It's Victorian.
Lived in this area all my life , and Ive never heard of this house , thanks for touring our city
So a "roof" is on the outside of a structure. A "ceiling" is the inside.
Brenda Barron i'm glad someone else commented. It kinda drove me crazy when he called it roof, i was yelling at my ipad lol
I reconsidered posting that because it was a bit judgemental but it bugged me too!!
I know the difference between the two but I have always said it the same way he did on the video. Every time I say it I see peoples faces turn red LOL I don't correct myself cause it's all too funny especially when my husband tries to correct me LOL
I don't like how he said the periodic table is "engraved" into it...
He also called a metal rooster a chicken!!!!! 🤦🏽♀️
So close to my hometown of Greensboro :) love it
I've lived in Florida for almost 5 years now but was born and raised in North Carolina. I miss my NC. Cant wait to go back home for a visit.
I was the same way when I was in Florida. I missed North Carolina's scenery, the food & especially the people. There's no place like home.
@@KP-vg3zn Amen to that. U miss the simple things like the nc bbq and even cheerwine. But the ppl overall for sure
That is one strange house,I would love to go through it.
My 2 favorite vlogers !!!!! Carpetbagger reaction after seeing the broken mirror ----priceless--had me cracking up !!! thanks guys !!! Deanna
That was an awful lot like the Winchester Mystery House, except the Winchester House is MUCH larger. Sarah Winchester, widow of the gun maker William Winchester supposedly continued to build more and more rooms, stairways, closets etc... because she felt the house was haunted by all who was killed by a Winchester gun. The story however is claimed to be a fable.
Great video!
Love seeing you and The Carpetbagger exploring together!
:)
Bonnie Kaye
Not sure if someone mentioned the strange/curious S-shaped couches, but they were neat conversation sofas where folks could face one another as they spoke. Too cool.
Wendy Hughes They laughed because SNL did comedy routines featuring S -shaped toilets !
keep filming! love these movies.
hi from the uk!👍love tdw x
I love your video's! Love the Carpetbagger too! That house was amazing! I don't get to travel so I enjoy watching y'all do it for me! Thanks! I thought it was much better than the Winchester House.
Yes! The Carpetbagger has great videos as well! :)
the winchester house was bit functional only she lived there hiding and building constantly to outwit the ghosts of the spirits if those killed by her husbands fiearms--what was just seem was actually a family home--big difference
That RJ Renolds building very nice and it is decorated in the Art Decco style
It's fun to drive through Winston and see our very own Empire State Building when we do. Thank you for noticing it. That's why I'm glad he did the other area driving he did. The places around Kernersville are pretty too.
Be sure and try some Cheerwine (its a soda) while in NC.
The can soda for the po folks
It's good stuff.
I fucking miss cheerwine living in iowa I cant get it anymore ...at least the hyvee in Omaha carrys the glass bottles.
@@alexandriamcnally6510 How's it soda for Po folks? Pepsi was created in North Carolina too.
Thanks for sharing love the vlog! very interesting house and glad to see you and Jacob together
The two seater chair was a "Courting Chair"
What an AMAZINGLY STRANGE, BEAUTIFUL house !!! Thanks Adam. Peace ✌🏼♥️
Very cool old service station, Shell did a heck of a lot of promoting,, Love those places,,
Adam, pretty awesome you are spending time here in The Old North State. There is A LOT to see in North Carolina! Stay awhile and keep heading east towards Wilmington. In NC by way of Florida myself.
You seem like a nice bloke, when I'm ever wanting to stop for a cup (of tea) I'll give you a shout, do you have English tea? Most of us if we're sensible throw a box of tea into our suitcase!☕
We threw all the English tea in the Boston harbour.
Call China .... tell them I want all the tea.....
ASG66 they do indeed. Google Tregothnan.
Mr Woo you are one of the greatest urban geographers of our time.
In to day's episode, we learn how the Carpetbagger "bagged" his wife!
"Bagged".........
Oh, why do I bother....
I get it now! Lol....I'm going to call my boyfriend that. Sure changed meaning from the Gone with The Wind times. Lol
You and Jacob should have sung "The Days" on that stage! haha!
Just now came across your channel and I must say, you had me rolling with laughter, but I will be honest, your sense of humor, the sungkasses, your beard, even your teeth put me in mind of my dad whom I lost in 2004. So there were a few tears to. His humor always had me laughing, and you did to. Thanks for that. It was great. I am going to binge watch all your videos I can find. I'm a new sub.
I can't be the only one who sees the darkness that surrounds these places that people with money used to live in. There would be more light and joy in a shack.
Sandra Susky it’s a literal TRAP house haha
You can learn all about the elements out in the elements!
Whatever you do,don't take Hwy.666!
Mark,Okay,I hope you are right. lol
Love this! I live in this town and have never been in the Kerner House. The Dairi"Os restaurant you were in front of in the beginning of the video is owned by Rusty LaRue who lived in Kernersville then moved to Guilford County and played basketball for a High School in Guilford Country. ...then Wake Forest University......then the Chicago Bulls .. I so enjoyed this video. We go riding quite a bit on the country roads and see all of the old stores and small towns around here.
My mother loves the banana split from Dairy-O. She now lives in Oak Ridge. I grew up on Main St in Kernersville.
The way buildings were built in the 1920’s is so much better than how we build modern buildings today.
Keep up this delightful work, Adam. You're a positive force in so many people's lives. Very cool.
Christopher Reeve Superman changing in the revolving door! Oh yeah! That building reminds me of the Daily Planet too!
It also reminds me of the building in the first Ghost Busters movie.
Adventures by @1
That house was really cool! Thanks for showing it!😊🇨🇦
I live just about 3 miles from this house. If you ever get the chance to go there, don't miss it. There are so many things there not shown in the video that you would find fascinating. Not that they didn't do a great job on this video, but there are just so many little bits and pieces of interesting pieces of history there. If you can go at Christmas time, you would be amazed at all the beauty. Every room is decorated by a different person or group. So beautiful!
Love Adam and Jacob together!
This is where I live, so cool that you are doing my town. I feel famous! lol
It's crazy to think this episode was only 3 months ago but I guess because you upload everyday, 90 episodes can make it seem like years. Hell of a work ethic Adam.Much respect.
I am sure this was an original "sample house" to showcase this man's handiwork. If so, this guy must have been a phenomenal builder!!! Hopefully he didn't expect his clients to be as short as him.
Hahaha! The Periodic Picnic Table is hilarious! Built by a true geek!
Adam, Don't forget to call your Mother today!
not to far from me and been there several times. great place and I love Winston. Old Salem is a great place to visit too.
Very cool place. Reminds me of the Winchester House. I toured it BEFORE it was fixed up. The 2 guys that gave the tour were scared to death of the place, 1 led and the guy followed behind you.
I'd of liked to have seen the hidden rooms😁
I love these videos reminding all of us the greatness of the U.S! We are blessedNice to see Americana at its finest.
They call that empire state building type of architecture “Art Deco” kind of a highly decorative movement. Was pretty much killed by the great depression.
Love Art Deco.
Reminds me of the Winchester house with all the doors and up and down stairs cases. thanks for the video!
Hi, just to let you know that this is my "mostest" favorite channel of all CZcams's. Great detailed and intetesting content !!! Thank you :)
Cool stuff!! My favorite vloggers!! Adam and Jacob!!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! See you tomorrow!! Love you guys!!!
If you ever make back to California, you gotta come to San Jose to the Winchester mystery house! I think it's a lot more strange and awesome! But I could be bias since I live here 😁👍🏻
Brittany Boone , that's an amazing house and it's suppose to be haunted. I've visited the Winchester House. I can honestly say, there's a vibe.
Brittany Boone - I believe he has actually been there. Could be wrong but I seem to remember a video he did there.
I love the corridors and stairwells. I reminds me of the Winchester house. Thanks for sharing.
The two-seater chair that you show at 14:22 is called a tete-a-tete chair. I've also heard it called a gossip chair. It makes it easy to sit comfortably and have a close, face-to-face chat with someone.
The Woo in north cakalacky, I say a meet up is in order
M-C Shan, I 2nd that!
I third that
Well we'd love to meet Adam and Chattanooga is only about an hour away from our place. We would need some advance notice so we could arrange our hometime for it. But it would be nice, indeed.
Huh? I know i'm asking for it feeding into this but people have literally just guessed what town he's going to be in and stopped him & said hello. I'm sure he's flattered though, that you would think he has an agent and road manager haha Meetups usually have to be planned far ahead & scheduled, not just put together on a whim.
please, a meet up!!!
Omg I love the Folley House. I live 5 min at the most from there. Its worth to come by Kernersville NC and see it yourself.
Omg...took me awhile to find this vlog...the beginning of it he's in my home town, Rural Hall...i used to walk down to that bowling alley every Wednesday night...and that oasis cafe is NEVER open...i dont even think the guy runs a business there...just keeps some junk there
Btw it's not kernsville its Kernersville!!! (Cur-nurs-ville)
The curvy chairs were for courting couples. They could talk face to face but couldn’t touch...
This is my hometown! I used to walk around that house at night with friends from high school. I know where that shell station is (about 5 min from my parents house). I've eaten at that deli before and took class trips to Salem by the tea pot.
Also, it's not pronounced Kerns-ville. It's Ker-Nirs-ville.
Cool vid!
I still live here and cool thing is thier making almost everything historic. My great grandpa worked at that shell. Its nice to know i can show my grandkids these things.
Hey Adam, I finally went to the Abita Mystery House! That place is so cool man, I can't believe it took me so long to go see it. I forgot to pick up a Big the Foot though! Lol!
I thought that place looked familiar!
love that place so much
NolaDeej I'm definitely going to visit there too the next time I'm passing by that way. Looks awesome
Tampa Jay awesome! It's amazing!! I could spend the whole day there! Lol
Mark No, but now I want to check it out! :)
This is great! We live about an hour from there in Pittsboro, NC and had no idea of all the interesting structures, etc in that area! I love your style
Corners Folley is really cool to visit. I loved the theater he created. The furniture, the wallpapers, the ornate fireplaces, etc. All of that stuff fascinates me!
guy that built the house must have hated tall people.
Happy Sunday, Happy Mothers day to all deserving Moms 👍🏼 Watched & Liked 👍🏼👍🏼
Jon MacDonald and your mother totally deserves it 👍🏼 Hell Yeah! 😉
i don't know why but when you were stood on that stage and panned around to see the chairs i got shivers
9:45 Now we're talkin! A classic Reuben! On grilled rye bread with a swirl! The past ten minutes have been worth putting up with just to see that!
It’s beautiful, like an Alice in Wonderland house! Lots of fun watching you guys! :)
keep up the good work , love the odd stuff. If the sign says Do Not Enter.....you know you just got to.
"A place like that is alright to visit but I wouldn't wanna live there"- Jed Clampett
Love the shell station, mouthwatering vintage goodness!
While in NC you need to check out wilmington.
4ud10, I told him the same. All of the movie and show filming locations down here, plus USS NC and old battle history. He was just referencing Maximum Overdrive a week ago which was filmed in Wilmington and Leland.
.... and Asheville.
phil2u48 Oh my word, the OLD VA hospital!
I want that house I want it I've dreamed of it .its perfectly odd and I love odd
Me too. I've dreamed of it many times.
I have lived in and around Winston Salem all my life and this was very interesting to watch. You even shared some information that I had never heard before. I've been to Korner's Folly a few times over the years and it is a very strange, but beautiful home. It was neat seeing all my local stomping grounds through fresh eyes. You've gained a new subscriber!
Reminds me of the Winchester house.....either one would be cool to live in ! Thanks for sharing this trip it was awesome !
