Kia Seltos 2020 review: Sport+ long-term

  • The Kia Seltos Sport+ is a small SUV with big aspirations. But can the Kia's newest SUV cut it in our long-term garage. We asked Andrew Chesterton to put it to the urban family (two adults, one very small corgi) test to find out.
First, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way first. This is the Kia Seltos Sport+ FWD. That means it gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine delivering 110kW and and 180Nm, with that power fed through a CVT automatic and send, unsurprisingly, the front tyres. It will cost you $33,990 drive away.
The Sport+ is also available as an AWD, with swaps the engine out for a 1.6-litre turbo and the CVT for a seven-speed DCT auto, but that ups the cost to $37,490. If you're a city-dweller, like me, then I really wouldn't bother.
Either way, the Sport+ is among the more expensive ways into a Seltos. It sits below only the GT-Line (which is a considerable $42,990 drive-away), and above the Sport Safety Pack ($31,490), the Sport ($30,490), the S with Safety Pack ($27,990) and the entry-level S ($26,990). All those prices are drive-away, too.

Great car but the lack of any LED exterior lighting (DRL or Headlights) is quite a miss imho. Only the GT-Line seems to get these.

Thanks for stating drive away prices not meaningless stupid 'plus on road cost' numbers. 👍
Good review Andy. Pity this one is in a dull colour they look better in bright colours.

I bought my Seltos S 5months ago and its at the dealer currently getting fixed cause the infotainment unit is causing a drain on the battery and needs to be replaced. And ill add when I went to take it in to get serviced, another lady rocked up behind me in a Seltos and said her software had kept changing from first hours ahead of time, to finally decades ahead of time. So they might not be the best cars to buy

Why doesn't anyone mention that the genuine tow bar kit is not recommended for towball bike carriers? I've not heard of this before and caused me to look at crv, rav 4 and forester.

Wanting to get 2nd hand demo version but product reviews website and google showed few seltos automatic failures already and bad dealership supports that turned me off and look at boring older RAV4 instead. A car is about reliability, parts and dealer support

but your short, re back seat, space so the seat would be further forward and hence it looks like it got space in the back seat.

watch some others reviews, there's another Aussie channel and the guy is 6 ft and still had plenty of room in the back as well

I am 6’3” and I can confirm I can fit quite happily in the back seat. Love my Sport + Mazda CX-30 on the other hand, we tested that and I would have needed to wrap my legs around the front seat passenger to sit in the back of that thing! Kia manages to give all seat positions plenty of legroom.

Mate, not being rude, but calling this kind of automotive white goods the ‘Sport +’, or ‘GT Line’ is akin to labelling that pup in you video the ‘Semi-Whippet’, or ‘Sub Greyhound’.

I prefer the look of separate infotainment screen from its instrument panel like in Aussie model here. In Asia KIA merged the two which in my opinion looks ugly and cheap.
