Impromptu speaking is my favorite! I believe it exposes our best selves without the mechanical, over-prepared side of deliveries.

Whats the difference between impromptu and improvise?

The only difference is that impromptu is a specific type of public speaking (though ti can be used in other ways). It is an adjective. The word improvise is a verb and can be about just about any topic. The two words are not typically held up for the purposes of comparison because they are different parts of speech. It's not a head-to-head comparison., in other words. But if you Google each word, you'll see that they have a similar root that is about something happening _right there and then_ .

If you're telling the truth why would you need time to prepare? However... if you're blowing smoke, covering for questionable actions... you might need a little time to prepare. IE politics.

Most public speakers prepare beforehand. They do research, look up sources, find the right quotations, make slides/visual aids, and sharpen their message. That process take time. In contrast, impromptu speaking is an approach used when you're not given much time to prepare, which happens a lot.
