This is a spiritual sequel to my previous two Sanditon videos, this time with The Gilded Age (Julian Fellow's follow-up to Downton Abbey).
Sometimes the gold digger doesn't realize the hole he's dug...or that he's fallen in love. I believe Raikes genuinely loved the idea of a life with Marion...but was too scared to actual start a life with her. Not entirely a good guy, but a sympathetic one, a flawed one.
