The ammo shortage doesn't seem to be a problem on the south and west side of Chicago. 40 to 60 shot every weekend.
😄😁😆 so true.
I know folks always use Chicago as an example, however Chicago is run my Mexican drug Cartels who funnel drugs in that state. They supply the Gangs with Drugs, guns, etc. The State Reps do not know how to deal with it. This same atmosphere could come to a neighborhood near you if it is allowed to take root.
They were smart and stocked up. Capone was always big on stocking up on ammo and supplies.

Ammo prices are making it hard to practice at the range.
45acp, $40 a box. If you can find it.
Should not be shooting. Save your ammo
For many, stocking up on ammo a little bit at a time has paid off.
Very much so!
Stocking up on reloading a little at a time pays off too.
Now I have "dozens" of rounds stocked up :)
I never could understand why so many Americans are unprepared for what to the average person seems obvious. When Obama ordered our service men and we on into Africa to help with Ebola I ordered a bunch of N95 masks and certain other PPE items. When Obama cheated his way into a second administration I started collecting a stockpile of certain other important survival items. When I saw the SHTF in January 2020 I started slowly collecting other kinds of survival items. “Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.”
@@GordonWaiteJr Because people who are comfortable in life tend to fool themselves into thinking the worst cannot happen. I've heard it from several of my friends. "USA is the greatest country, we cannot ever be beat" "there's no way they can ever ban guns, we have the Constitution" "why are you so paranoid, it's not like the government can actually do anything"... to name a few.
I refuse to pay the inflated ammo prices. Fortunately, I have enough to defend against a Zombie invasion.
That's good. It means the high prices are working to better allocate the available ammunition to the people who need it more and are willing to pay for it.
I wonder how bad the shortage would be if people who stockpiled had an easy way to sell ammo at $1 per round or whatever prevailing market price people choose. I imagine the government could actually make a profit and help people for once by selling off some stockpiled ammo too.

I LOVE my local gun store. Even in this time of ammo shortage and HUGE price hikes, here in crowded ass New York my local shop always has his shelves stocked with ammo. And he has kept prices exactly the same. Just walked out yesterday with $1000 worth of ammo in many different cal.
I learned my lesson last time during the reign of Barry the gangster. I vowed to never be caught short again. And I prepared accordingly. I bought a box of ammo each week on sale or not. Did this for a couple years and now I have zero worries about ammo. I am no longer on the hunt, scrambling for ammo. Suggest everyone buy a box when you can. No need to empty the shelves, save some for the next guy. We all win.
Well said!
@Xray Paul this is not possible. Do not give it away. Just oxidize it. And enjoy what ya paid for.
The only thing I’ve hoarded, while everyone else was hoarding toilet paper, is ammo, 9mm, 380acp, 556, acc 300 blackout, and 308. I’m good to rock and roll.
I haven't been to the range in a long time because I'm not letting go of what I have now.
Ditto.
Same here , I stocked up on everything I could find after the last shortage and I save brass like a mad man
I only go to the range to check my zero on my rifles & scope for hunting , I know what ammo shoots the best and that’s all I buy , 1 to 5 shots is all I need ! Hand guns are a different story and do require a bit more practice .
I still go but it's almost exclusively shooting .22LR. I learned my lesson back in 2013 with that. I stocked up over the last few years. I will use it sparingly until I get down to the amount I consider my "hold" number. The nice thing about that caliber is being able to shoot revolvers, semi-auto rifles and pistols, and bolt action rifles. Also, if you shoot skeet or trap, there is plenty of birdshot still available.
No shortage at my house!
When was the last time ammo disappeared. When the post office was buying it and military and DHS etc
You aren't wrong, but with new gun purchases up an insane rate, it's not surprising there are shortages, either. A manager at Cabela's told me one of the major brass manufacturers had a big Covid-19 outbreak and shut-down, too.

Thank you Jared for the heads up I told my friends to watch you and they told me I didn’t realize everything was so bad so thanks again Jared.
You know what would help a lot? A lead smelting plant here in the U.S.
No one paid attention when the only one was shutdown under Obama's presidency.
@Vin Vin can't abolish the 2A, but we can get rid of the bullets for them.
Dont stop at lead. Produce primers , brass and powder here also.
Plastic cartridges with slag metal cores in impregnated plastic bullets
Yeah, and that was the beginning of the BS agenda.
Even for reloaders. We CANNOT get primers.
Indeed. I wish I had a crystal ball. Back in August, I started a new project which is now sorta complete. It involved a new caliber that uses large rifle primers. I got a box of Federal #215M early on. My mistake was not getting enough of it. Only very premium ammunition seems to be available now and NO primers.
Time to figure out how to make your own. Honestly, it's well PAST time to figure out how to entirely home manufacture ammunition using scrap metal, a small home forge and possibly 3D printing. We cannot rely on manufacturers to bail us out on this one. They just don't have the capacity.
Part of their plan to disarm the population.
Its past time to learn how to reuse primers. Try prime all
When the shortage improves, stock up on all components. This is a learning moment for all reloaders. I bought in bulk in 1994.

Save everyone 5 min. Ammo is hard to find and it's only going to get worse with Biden.
Will something get better with China Joe?
Same shortages happened under Obama’s administration. You’re all getting hosed . First rules of survival, is don’t wait for a try and stock up. Good luck kids
Why has Trump allowed this to happen?
@fran nowak Yes, very annoying
Whether or not it would get worse with Biden is irrelevant because Biden will not be president.
Why dont Bills go through a Constitutional Check before being introduced and then the writers educated on the Constitution if it fails? Answer this and you will understand its going to take massive blood shed to put the political system back in check.
Because bills are written by companies with vested interests, none of which is this Constitution thing you speak of. Congress hasnt "written" a bill in decades. Companies write bills then shop for a sponsor.
I feel like a idiot for not stockpiling when I 1st thought about 2 years ago. Now my pew pews just sit with next to no freedom seeds
Drank a lil to much of that Trump kool aid? I prepped harder in the last 4 years than I did Obozo's 8 years.
@@lanejohnson7656 no trump koolaid life just happens. Also gotta train on a budget.
I started stocking up on guns, ammo and reloading components since late 2018 because I believed two things would happen in the firearms and ammunition market after Trump got into the Whitehouse in 2016.
1) Gun and ammo prices would start to decrease and their availability will start to increase, and the market should stabilize by the second to third year of his presidency.
2) Trump will be a one-term president. At best the next president will be a moderate liberal Democrat. Nonetheless, the fact that any Democrat is going to be the next president will trigger another round of product shortage and price gouging in the market.
Unfortunately my belief turned out to be true.
@@F15ElectricEagle To me all signs started pointing to another ammo shortage in 2017 and especially in 2018. Why? Because you had Trump out emboldening the ATF when he had them ban bump stocks, then his "I like take the guns first", "I think it's time to open the conversation to raising the age to buy firearms", him telling Pelosi "You never had a republican president that will take on the NRA like I WILL". All while knowing he would need our votes again at least in the primary and then the general election. It was pretty appearant nobody worth having was going to try to primary him due to the large amount of support he has. If a guy attacks the Constitution like this while knowing he needs our votes again at least twice I was scared as hell what he would be like knowing he would never need our votes again. Don't get me wrong, with what we know he is marginally better than Biden/Harris. But the scary thing is what we don't know. In 2016 the man ran on "The attacks on the 2nd amendment are over", "The 2nd amendment has no better friend than me" than once in office he done nothing but running his big mouth otherwise. Who knows what he would do with a 2nd term. You sure can't convince me he would be better. I was thinking SURELY if he went right back to running his mouth with a 2nd term people might start to see him as the Constitution hating POS he has proven to be and his attacks would cause another shortage. NOBODY can convince me with a 2nd term he wouldn't go right back on the attack, which could plausibly start another shortage. The China flu just sped up the inevitable in my opinion..
Keep up the great work of keeping us informed!! Now more than ever we need to know what's going on. Thank you.
I'm glad I bought ammo when I did. Still never enough, but now I don't want to shoot it because IDK how long this will last.
Same, even plinking for marksmanship practice looks sketchy...
Got to watch practice and zero shooting as there are places where you have neighbors that will put you on a list. I plan on eating them first.
I am kinda glad I have a M9 airsoft because at one time I felt like I was well stocked but I am afraid to shoot any of it. On a side note 50 BMG seems to not be affected
All the people that hoard ammo can easily get shot by a ten year old and a dead man with tones of ammo does no good, also next time they pick up a gun they lost all their marksmanship by not shooting what they have. Ouch 😳
@@sikhbhavikh3232 well that's always the balance. You have to have enough ammo so that when a shortage happens you can still train and then hope the supply comes back before you get to your bare minimum for any reasonable emergency. That's why many people split their training ammo from their defensive ammo. But ammo is expensive so we can't be buying 5k rounds at a time. We need to budget ourselves.
I wish it wasnt complicated to just own a firearm....
As do we all. The opponents of the 2A want to make it as complicated as possible. It's one of their best weapons.
To just be able to exercise your God given right to protect yourself? Yea, this is what governments do, make everything complicated. Even the most basic of things.
every one feels this way.
@Hymaungdr - so true. No one could have said it better.
Freedom always comes at a cost. At least we are not bleeding for it.
Thank you for the update!
This is going to be like this for the next 10 years. I recomend buying an air gun if you want to do any shooting. Ammo is getting to expensive and too hard to replace to shoot up. Some of the high powered air guns can take down big game and you only need the lead for the pellets and you can pump up the air cylynder with a hand pump. Or buy black powder revolver gun.
black powder is as scarce as ammo
Yes I bought a .177 caliber pellet rifle called the Black Ops a couple years ago. It a break barrel style. I was working nights and one morning I swung by Walmart on the way home and saw it and bought one. It was around 7am when I popped the barrel out the back door and fired a pellet towards the lake. It sounded like I'd just fired my 270 lol. It has a lot of knock down power. I've shot numerous rabbits, ducks, squirrels and a few coyotes. No deer though because I don't want to injure one and it run off and be lamed possibly. It came with a descent scope BTW.

Buy an FX PCP air rifle if you can. You won’t regret it 👍

@@towtruckaj Amen. I was still able to get some 9mm and 5.56 in the Spring. By the Summer I was focused on .22LR. First the gun stores ran out. And then it was the places people forgot about like my local WalMart. They don't sell firearms any more and they quit selling pistol ammo and rifle ammo for guns considered "assault rifles" last year. But they still had hunting rifle ammo, shotgun shells, and hunting rifle ammo. I bought a couple thousand more rounds of .22LR through the Summer. But then first the buckshot and slugs disappeared and then the 22LR, and finally the hunting rifle ammo vanished. All they have now is .17HMR and birdshot.

EXACTLY. Dude this shit won't last. These guntubers are a joke. Let's just pretend we forgot about the last 15 years. When do we ever see prices go back to "normal" after a shortage? Never.
Bingo! When have you ever seen gun laws get looser? same concept once they find out they can take it they will never stop.

I disagree. After the last gasoline shortage with subsequent price gouging during the Bush/Obama regimes we have cheap gas again, I just took a cross country trip with an average price per gallon of less than $1.99. Also saw 550 round bulk packs of Federal 36gr. 22LR. for $20-27 just before this latest shortage began. Thank you for all that you do!
What we need are more ammo manufacturing companies in the USA, it looks like it would be one hell of a business to be in right now... :)
I think this is the answer to the shortage and it can be lucrative. Price the new ammo at normal prices by caliber. Then make alot of it 24 hours a day. As a retired 70 year old, I don;t believe that I have enough left in me to get a project like this complete. This would be a good project for a few young, healthy vets (or anyone) looking for some hard work to make real money for their families.
The only downside might be acquiring the raw materials. It all boils down to supply and demand.
The problem is the raw materials. All of the come from foreign countries. Obama managed to bet the lsst lead smelter in the US closed.
Along with Trump's other regulation cutting, what he needs to do, NOW, is cut the regulations that ptevent the US mamufacture of ammo.
it would be nice if ATK were not majority owned by China. not only do they make ammo they also make our solid rocket motors. yup, our military depends on China.
Alot of ammo is put together in the USA.. Problem is the bullets, primers ,brass and powder is made in other countries.. Government orders go out first. Being the China flu lockdowns I bet if any of the components are scarce any of those components regardless who ordered them would go to filling government orders. What I'm saying is, say you own a remanufacturing company and you ordered primers and primer manufacturing companies ship your order I can see you being told "your primers got lost at sea" while they sit on the USA dock just incase they are needed for government ammo..
Sounds like a good time to start up a Ammunition Manufacturing Business...
Where are you going to get the Supplies?
Do you have access to mines? Chemical plants? Etc?
Be careful. The best way to make a small fortune in that industry is to start with a large fortune.
Good luck getting components in the popular calibers.

Tooling up takes time and a major financial investment. The manufacturers understand that this will eventually catch up. Then they sit on an unused investment for years until the next run on ammunition.
Rick V Part time wouldn’t be overtime.
ATF forms, liability insurance, equipment to make loaded rounds is not available.. Lots of reasons.
@@jongruen7854
I get it, but there's a Billion dollars of back ordered ammo. That's a lot of money. You don't have to tool up for every caliber. Plus if you're a multimillionaire, the patriotic thing to do is to focus more on supplying the masses with what they need to maintain freedom, and less on making a profit.
These multimillionaires might lose everything, if the wrong group takes control.
Rick V I know just being a smart arse. I’d stand outside with a sign that reads will work for ammo.
What really grinds me is these companies that are raising the prices thereby gouging the customers.
Cheaper than Dirt is the worst don't ever buy from them
Price gouging is insane in colorado here....
It’s called capitalism... If you don’t like it, start your own ammo company. It’s also supply and demand, when there is a limited supply of an asset and high demand, price naturally rise, and they will continue to rise until there is equalization.
@@0waverunner0 Supply and demand. Maybe you shouldn't have waited to buy ammo.
@@alexsheppard8331 maybe i didnt. Doesn't mean i cant be upset about price gouging. But im going to assume you think everyone else is in the wrong and shouldnt be able to think for themselves. ;)
I'm sad about this report, However I'm not lonely about this report! I'm not the only one! Thank you for the report!
Nope, it's literally all of us.
Last time, I had to expand my ammo storage capabilities to handle what I acquired. I am not a hoarder, but a regular ammo investor. Also, years ago, I decided to not use up what I could not replenish. I only go to the range with what I can buy now.
glad I learned how to reload in 1984. Got everything I need including primers ! Thanks for the report Jared, keep it up!
Strange: In Denmark (Europe) we have no shortage of ammo at all. All calibers available from most manufacturers, and no significant increases in price.
But is Not Permitted to ship ammo to addresses in the USA from outside countries, it would be refused entry on arrival - Unless being shipped to a government agency...
Lets face it "normal" is no more...

Explanation:
The Great Reset is wiping our way of life off the face of the earth and installing an overtly tyrannical rulership. If you google "Georgia Guidstones" and kind of read between the lines you will get an idea of how comprehensive it is. 911 was the start, Covid is the continuation, and dictatorial authority and global nuclear war are the final acts of the takeover.
Deep State have put their plans for us into the movies, tv and news for many decades. The above pasted list also has a few 911 references so we can see how they tell us what they're gonna do, then they do it. We all know 911 was done by the US gov, not Arabs in a cave.
They've been telling us about 923 (probably September 2023) at least since 1986 (movie Labyrinth with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly). I can only assume that the nukes will fly then.
Be aware that some of the 923 references are obvious, others are obscure. For example, the letter "I" ("I" for India) is the ninth (9th) letter of the English alphabet so is another reference to "9". Also, the number "1" (one) looks like an "I" so it is sometimes used along with "23" to indicate "923" - this technique is use in the introduction to "The Simpsons". Other variations use a "6" as an upside down "9", and various combinations of the digits such as 239, 329, etc.
Stock up on B Vitamins (B for Brain). B supplements are necessary for us to handle stress.
This stuff can be scary at first. But after 3 months you will be very calm again.
Go through the list then pass it on to loved ones so they can be at least mentally prepared. These 923 videos are telling us about a significant event (probably nuclear war) in the future.
To see what they have done in the past, copy and save the list below in a Notepad document for future reference. It explains A LOT of things about the world and how it works. You may have trouble convincing friends and family of these things. The TV is too powerful a mind control tool to be overcome by facts. Small rifle primers are like gems right now. It's insane trying to reload.
Got to learn how to make your own try Prime all.
Curious. I'm not concerned, for my own reasons. 😁
I've been lucking out huge. I bought 3000 federal Small rifle for 6 cents a primer about a month ago. Bought 1000 federal small pistol primers for $50, then had 500 cci given to me. Price tag on them was $1.49 😂 and I've scored 800 large pistol primers for 5 cents a primer. Also have been lucking out with bullets and brass at normal price. I can usually get anything at anytime, its just I'm not paying 15 cents a primer or 50 cents a case. I guess it comes down too, my job has me working all over so I get to check a bunch of stores and gunshops on a daily basis.
@@echota23 Prime-all is corrosive. I refuse to use it until I have no other option.
Gunsmith here, it’s not just popular calibers- it’s now everything from 7.5 swiss to .303 british and even gun parts. The entire firearms supply chain is overwhelmed and some dealers in my area are going under because they cannot get enough product to put on their shelves. Crazy times.
Thanks fo4 the info.
I'd advise to avoid gougers; if they want to sell their hoards then they can sell it close to normal prices.
Simple supply&demand will determine prices in most cases.

Thanks for the update Jared.
Been buying a couple of box at a time from local stores when they have it.
Same, for years, and years. Every week.
Thanks for the update. Never surrender your guns!!!
Thanks for the update, should have taken my own advice last year.
I stocked up a couple of years ago. My wife said I was crazy well....she still thinks I'm crazy but I'm not going nuts trying to find ammo. Great content thanks for all you do for us needing to know. Be blessed
Went to a gun show on Sunday, prices were insane!! Cheapest “junk” 9mm was 33 bucks per box of 50 rounds of FMJ!
I was contemplating going to a show to check the prices. Thanks for the heads up.
Ughhh... that’s depressing. I’m much lighter on Ammo then normal, did some entertaining of co-workers from gun-Free countries at the end of 2019 and early 2020 and blew through a lot of my normal safety-stock. I’ve always been one to just buy whatever was on sale basically every time my wife sent me to the grocery store next to the outdoors store whether I needed it that week or not. It’s a little uncomfortable but not as bad as some people have it. I mostly just hate that it essentially puts a stop on the hobby as I am now entirely unwilling to send a few hundred downrange on a consistent basis...
So I’m sitting on a lot of money. I was unaware of what people were getting for them.
New subscriber, I appreciate your work !

Whatvdoesnt make sense to me is " they have backlogs to fill, so until those backlogs are filled, ammo will not come to market." I dont understand that. The market is the backlog. What orders are they filling first? We also hear that raw materials are scarce yet manufacturers at still at full capacity. How can that be. Nothing is adding up.
You have no idea how the world and production works. Obviously.
If you are an Ammo supplier, and you project let’s just say 12 millions rounds produced for 2020. That means by mid 2019 you have to have your orders in for primers, brass, powder and projectiles.
So 2020 rolls around and you are doing 1 million rounds a month as projected. Then the virus hits. People freak out. People that normally don’t buy, buy. People that normally buy one biz a week are buying 10,20 or 30. So all your projected stock is gone before you can make it. You sell 12 million rounds by March.
Companies don’t just make 4x what they normally make for shits and giggles. That’s how companies go out of business. Now couple that with hoarders, resellers, normal shooters and. The big and. 5+ million new gun owners. They need Ammo to shoot. So. You have 10x the demand for the supply, then you have limited production due to lack of supplies from the shut downs.... it all adds up, whether or not you can figure it out or not.
Add onto that Remington went bankrupt along with it's Remington ammo and UMC ammo manufacturing.
@@Freakingstang If there is a lack of supplies how are the factory's producing 24/7?
@@Freakingstang You have no idea of what being prepared is if you are wanting to blame "hoarders". I don't know how many rounds I bought on sale or clearance in the past 16 years. Stores dont have ammo sales or clearance when there is a shortage. It's also not like ammo shortage is a new thing . Pretty damn obvious there was going to be another shortage in 2017 and especially 2018 and 2019 (to anyone not wearing blinders anyway) the China flu just sped it up.. A lack of planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on those who planned..
I'll give you a tip. A food shortage is next. But since you think being prepared is "hoarding" and you are against it keep only keeping a couple days to a weeks worth of food.. lol
The backlogs are government. Military, FBI, police etc. Hell the post office probably ordered more ammo
Ammo is great but don't forget about food and water. That's going next.
I'm going to be called a food hoarder and blamed for that also.. Love how people choose to walk blindly then when stuff is gone they blame folks who seen what was coming and prepared accordingly.
Food to go fast very soon
Anyone that does not have food or water for at least a month per person is not prepared. Think medical supplies also, get first aid training, get into shape. If you are not prepared now, what the hell have you been doing the last couple of years.
Shortage of toilet paper again , already
I'm going to eat the lefties, lots of the fat young feminists out there. They think me being a human racist is bad? Everyone tastes bad, but they taste the best. LMAO!
