VHF radio is a must have also - saw a recent situation where the users phone died and their ski went out - luckily they had signal flag to wave and were inshore but a cheap radio is a must have.

Great info as usual. 👍👍 Good idea having the radio with the gps. I’ve seen people using those radios but they are usually just basic marine channels no gps.
It's one of those things that you'll probably never need. But if you do you'll be glad you spent the extra money on it.
