This video is a comparative look between two leading portable fridges - ICECO VL60ProS and Dometic CFX3-55IM. Both are great options that can run off 12v or 110v power. A fridge is a camping and overland essential and I wanted to unbox and show you guys the new ICECO fridge I go and compare it to the Dometic Fridge. I always bring a fridge with me in my Jeep when I go camping and overlanding, and I think you will be interested in seeing this comparison!

The DanFoss compressors seemed to be the best compressors. ... one thing you should point out, is that you pre-cool your fridge on a house plug the night before your going to use it. Then it's all up to temp when you put it in your vehicle. (Doesn't have to work hard getting up to temp in the car)

I have had a original arb fridgefor 10 years and beat the crap out of it in the back of my truck and it has not missed a beat. It has a metal interior and does not retain any smell.Awesome fridge and arb is a awesome company that stands behind their stuff. I just broke a arb leaf spring and I contacted them regarding this. No questions asked ,they are sending a complete set (2).of their heavy duty rear leafs,to canada free of charge.

Thanks for showing the can dimensions! Such a universal size item - great to compare and makes it easier to see the space. Here are the totals I’m getting for the vertical can math: Dometic base 5X5X2 plus Dometic upper 5X3 = 65 total cans; Iceco base 5X6X2 plus Iceco upper 5X2 = 70 total cans (not counting any possible horizontal cans you could add to the top or any extras you could potential squish in either).

I’ve had an ARB 50 qt. fridge in my XJ for about 10 years. It has a quirky thermostat; sometimes when set to 33F the beverages are ice cold, other times I need to lower it to 24F. Otherwise it’s been great. It does get the musty smell you talked about.
Now that I have a new Gladiator, I’ve added the Decked drawer system, and am awaiting an Alu Cab Contour cap. Once it’s installed, I’ll need to do some measuring to see how much vertical room I have to fit a fridge with a tilt slide. Hopefully there’s enough room, otherwise it goes in the cab on the Goose Gear seat delete. We’ll see…. Thanks for posting, those are 2 of the fridges I’m considering.

Can you compare these showing the wattage used to sustain food temp once they’ve both cooled to the same temp and how long they last at that temp and how long they can cook say a couple 12 packs from room temp? I’m more interested in the power needed to maintain food temp and how long it would take say, if I went to the store an loaded some food in it while I was out on a trip? The wattage it uses while cooling off from warm doesn’t really mean much, since food will usually be put into it cold or most people will plug it into ac at their house to initially cool it off. Thanks for the great comparison!

Theres so many variables with things like external temperatures. Right now it has been 0 to 5 degrees every day and my fridge has used less 1% of my Delta 2 a day, but in the summer heat, it can use 10% to 20% a day if really hot.

Hey Aaron! I honestly don't know I haven't run the 55 off the Delta 2 yet. My CFX28 though, in these cooler weather and a fridge full of water, could probably run the fridge for a week to 10 days. In the summer it was running it for 5 to 7 days. Hope that helps a little. If you really want to stretch the battery, keep your fridge loaded with water as you eat the food on a trip.

You haven favoritism to the iceco, I when with the dometic. The aluminum dings easily and you need to seal the bottom or water will leak though that 3 piece that not welded and soggy the foam. And the control panel good for bad back, that placement at the bottom is unacceptable for viewing above and it don't have a app make it even worst. And the diffrent from the bigger ice box side you praise is taken from the freezer side right? LOL dometic a better buy, the iceco uses 80 watts vs the dometic 60 watts and painted black will heat up the metal if the sun shined on it. Meaning it can't be in the sun orneed to work abput it being covered. So in short the iceco is stupidly build and cost more too. LOL

And a ice cube maker on a non dual zone is unhear off try building one. As you drive water will spill, that has a catch tray also beside a cover so you can add a bigger ice cube tray and it would catch the water but still sucured to that corner. And who need spare part when they can't even include a cage separator like juice bottle that tall, or how can you hold a stack area when you take out bigger item? Yes it will fall like dominos without a charge separator. And try put a big black aluminum rubbish can over you and go sit down in the hot summer sun. See how stupid it build, beside the atbottom control panel with no app? LOL
