Great review Tim, you torture the knives, so we don't have too. If a knife passes your tests, anyone should feel comfortable using it. Thanks for sharing, and be well my friend.
All is good up here, looking forward to colder weather. Hope you and yours are all well.
@@GearReviewDepot will this knife be more likely to break in cold weather?
While it may be necessary to put a knife to extreme use in an emergency it should also be recognized that in a survival situation care must be exercised to maintain a knife's functional integrity.Know your knife may be relied upon but judge what is and is not an "abuse" necessitating emergency very carefully.
What Cliff Claven is trying to say is, DONT USE YOUR KNIFE AS A PRY BAR !!! Go to countycom and buy an EOD ROBOTICS BREACHER BAR
Now someone is going to come across that tree one day and think "Man I do not want to meet the coyotes in these woods". Nice review as always Tim. Keep 'em coming.
It's unlikely someone will come through here but I was thinking the same thing, they'll spend all day trying to figure out what was eating or clawing at the tree. lol
Bought my first ESEE knife about two years ago after seeing your reviews.. good to see you're keepin em coming.
That's awesome!
Great knives, I'll be using them for a very long time.
Love this testing. Thank you again!
Cool vid Tim. Keep them comin!
Just proves my belief that 1095 with the Rowen heat treat is the best steel for hard working tools. I winced all the way through this even though I was confident it would pass. Great video Tim, thank you
Same here my friend. I'll take the Rowen 1095 any day. 😁
Just the tip!! I've heard this many times lol. In all seriousness I think you have proven the ESEE knives are indestructible for anything we might use them for..edc or out in the woods. Another great review Tim!! Thank you my friend!!
I was sure they'd pass the test but I just wanted to make sure. I regret getting rid of the line up of ESEE's I had some years ago, I'll have to make it a goal to collect them all again. I have another fixed blade test coming later this week.
TheTacticalDefender keep the tests coming Tim...I'm enjoying them a lot. Thanks!!
Great test !!
I just received the Esse 4 in S35VN its a dam nice blade.
Just got mine today.. not many videos on it. I can't wait to try it out.
Your videos are very cool man! Thanks a lot, very appreciated from Montreal/Québec 🤘🙂
Thank you!
Great Vid. Very useful information. I agree the ESEE knives are made well. The test proves it. And abuse is relative, when you are in an emergency and you need the knife to perform abuse goes out the window. These tests are practical and that is what we need to see. Thanks for the great work.
I completely agree. Thank you for watching.
That was hard to watch! LOL! Im an Esee fan boy! Good stuff! Carry on!
👍👊
Great. it's time to do a test on the new Esee 4 S35VN!
Hello Tim, great knife i have the ESSE 5 in second hand. and i love it. is the best knife that i have, a little heavy, but amazing. greeting from Chile
Yeah that 5 is a beast for sure! Hope all is well with you and the family. Be well and stay safe my friend.
"Who's your daddy?!" 😂 good stuff.
Good test, great knife
Hope all is well Buzz.
You find some new property yet?
How's the hunt going?
I appreciate this kind of testing !
I just baught my first Esse 4 , yes I was an Esse Virgin , but my cherry is popped , and I'm as hooked , as a hooker on crack ! :)
Man these knives are cool , and it's not just looks , my Esse 4 in tactical black and g10 handles is a sexy knife , but as you can see in this vid they perform like a pro knife should !
It's dependable , reliable and that guarentee is world class . 1095 is underestimated by steel snobs , and it out performs all the stainless super steels , when you put them to the tip test , Truth .
You can pay 400$ for a knife that brakes when you most need it , Or you can buy an Esse .
Horses for courses , knives are task specific , choose wisely .
Yep, I couldn't be happier with ESEE knives. I'm going on 11 years or so using ESEE, they've never let me down. Thank you for taking the time to watch. Be safe.
I would love to see you test an ESEE PR4
Man i was cringing when you were doing that. Glad to know my esse is very durable
Certainly one of the best brands in the business.
Real very good knives
Esee must make great blades, all that pressure you put on it was moving that downed tree, impressive...Stay Safe... Steve from Chicagoland.
Steve R Absolutely my friend, I've been a fan for a long time and don't see that changing anytime soon. Hope all is well over there in Iraq... I mean Chicago. Lol
TheTacticalDefender ....Ya I hear ya.....I have been looking for a "fresh start" and job out of state.....Be safe my friend.
That was Sick
good video!
Thank you!
Amazing! This shows that the 1095 Steel has great advantages for a knife. It will not break. You can sharpen it easy.
I concur. Providing the heat treat is done correctly it'll last a lifetime. I've owned a lot of ESEE knives through the years, haven't been let down yet.
@@GearReviewDepot My Impression is that people doing cutting and batoning with ESEE Knifes and then try to cut a peace of thin paper afterwards and complain, didn't understand what this knife is made for in the first place. If you want to pry, plane, cut - resharpen with a river stone, gut a dear and then you need to rely on it will not break - ESEE is great.
I love that style knife
Me too!
Would you reccomend the stainless version or the 1095 esee 4?
Personally I'd go with the 1095.
That is impressive
I agree. A little excessive but impressive nonetheless.
will be my next purchase.
Jacob Sebastien Great knives my friend. I've had many knives, the ESEE line if knives are the ones I'll keep forever.
passes the "who's your daddy" test lol. incredible!
LMAO...
wow didnt know there was a new Jungles2
🤣 no one tried to destroy this knife like u did man
Six years later I’m still using this same knife!
I always said for survival nothing beats carbon steel 1095/1075
It's all I use and I can't say I've had any problems. Especially 1095 ROWEN processes for ESEE.
I live on Long Island I dig the Boston accent you got there it may be Chicago but I’m pretty sure it’s Boston, I just subscribed to your channel take care brother
Just the tip baby
Looks like you have big hands... hows the handle for big hands?
Yep, big fat meaty hands. 🤣 The handle (scales) work well with big hands, I don’t recall ever having any issues. About a year ago I purchased a set of G10 scales from The Knife Connection and it completely transformed the knife. I bought the scales that extend over the pommel and are wider in the middle to fill the palm of your hand. Well worth looking into.
@@GearReviewDepot thanks bud... appreciate the reply.
Hey its the 1095 or 440c stainless Steel Version?
1095 all day. 😁
@@GearReviewDepot thanks :)
Holy shit dude
You now have plenty of Kindling if you ever need to start a 🔥
This is true.
Can you throw sparks with this knife?
No. Not as is. You'd have to remove the black coating on the blade and file the spine to get good sparks.
Good info, thank you!
Been on ESEEs for about ten years now--they're simple, ugly tools that work made by some of the best and most honest people in the knife industry.
Amen to that!
Brother you need to be careful if you go to the four minute and 50 Mark of your video, the way you’re pushing on that knife forward if the handle broke you would definitely without a doubt be needing a tourniquet because the broken part of the Knife that was sticking out of the would have rip your arteries up on your wrist need to be careful need to be careful big guy
I always have a TQ with me. 🙂
@@GearReviewDepot Yeah brother you definitely weren’t showing any mercy today Knife that’s a good torture test right there if they don’t sell any more knives because your video there’s something wrong, and I don’t know about you but a tourniquet hurts like a son of a gun
I caution-winced at that same spot in video, cringing thinking about the possibility a broken blade half could spring up out of the cut with velocity towards the torso :-0
Enjoyed watching the steel stressed though ;-)
Wondering if that's a 6 in the 3-o'clock position ?
On second look blade sheath looks shorter, so probably a 5 ?
Bother, you're gonna need a new log soon if you keep trying those ESSE's! Beavering that thing away.
It's a really long log so I can always move down as the knife tests continue. A short hike away from that spot there's more downed trees so there's certainly no shortage. I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Well, I doubt you're gonna break an ESSE on a log, brother! Appreciate the vids!
вот это я понимаю тесты!
Esee should use this for advertising
Wow
How many times can someone say “just this tip” ironically in a video?
I don't know. How many?
This guy
Yep. I'm a guy. Albiet a fat one, but a guy nonetheless. 🤣
Joe x
All this proves is that the blade is too thick. Made for destruction testing videos and to protect their warranty marketing speil BUT not made for cutting.
Okay. Thanks for watching.
Say Heah, If it wasn't for my like of Choils I think Essee would of been my choice. But as it is my Rodent 4 is prolly one of my Fav's Bush Craft Knives. The fact it has a Choil its like having two knives in one. And the Steel is Awesome. A 52100 is similar to the 5160 but with more Carbon. It's a Ballbearing Steel that is Busse Technology Tempered and tgey do a Outstanding job Tempering it. Yeah, Infact I teamed my Rodent 4 with my Rodent 9 a Heavy Duty Combo I especially like using in cold weather solo trips.,,.p
OMG😂😂
Boy I kept cringing during this video! Next time do it in sub zero temperature or pull it from the freezer for a real horror show
Winter is coming, we'll see if I have any more fixed blades to "test". Thank you for watching.
