I waited 2 hours for this ride. When I first got in line it was daytime, but the time the ride began it was dark outside. Was so surreal. Felt like a real adventure, just blasting off through the underground and the dark sky.

This ride looked so much slower in the video, and when I was watching it happen to others in person. I was thinking, “oh the drops can’t even be that bad.” I hopped on that thing and upon speeding up I immediately realized how much I underestimated the ride. I went into the very front luckily, but up there when the ride begins to go backwards, it’s a lot worse than the video explains. And when your in the dark room, the video doesn’t show it but the track literally drops down a whole floor and onto another track. (Don’t get scared by this comment, I’m a pussy when it comes to rollercoasters and I had a great time on it and the worst part of the ride is the wait.)
The fact that the first time I went on this ride, I was 9 and didn't expect anything
Right, I went on it last month and it was dark so I couldn’t see anything. When I got off my whole body was shaking and I’m honestly surprised I didn’t breakdown as I have really bad anxiety and it really peaked while I was riding.
That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, because it’s a fun experience when it’s all said and done… but I’m not sure if I’ll go on it next time

I researched the engineering that went into this ride awhile ago and it is phenomenal. Some things were never really tried before and the timing of certain events are extremely crucial. If the timing is out on the ride anywhere then the whole ride shuts down automatically.

@@zgrif I agree that universal studios' screen tech is amazing, but they were relying on it way too much for a multi million dollar company. Screen tech is the easier and cheaper option to building rides when they dont put as much detail is other aspects. They were getting lazy and they knew that. And with technology getting more and more advanced everyday + Disney as their main competitor which are working on new ride techs and mixing up different times of media to produce the best rides, just relying on screens are gna do harm to their finance 💁🏻♀️
@@SpeedySecrets215 yeah, they did some pretty epic stuff like Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, and Spiderman, but we also recently got rubbish like Jimmy Fallon, Despicable Me, and worst of all Fast and Furious. It's better to have a wide variety of rides rather than a whole series of the same damn screen rides
I had the pleasure of riding this at night time and let me tell you that’s the best way to experience it! Really feels like you’re flying. Best ride at Uni. Hands down.

A few days ago i did it twice back-to-back bc everyone else was waiting at the hagrids ride and ITS SO GOOD! trust me y'all it's way scaryer when ur waiting in the boarding bit when ur ab to move but once ur on it it's just insane! watch out for the dinosaurs that are hidden around the set of the coaster!!
This might be the best roller coaster/theme park ride I’ve ever been on. The way it speeds up at some parts, The overall design and the theme itself just makes the ride so fun

A roller coaster with no freaking LOOPS, not for me, big loop fan here. Steep drops is a MUST as well, and never miss a good HELIXXXXXXX. I know it doesnt have any of these but it just looks too simple and only goes fast. Not my cup of tea.

As someone who has a bad stomach for rollercoasters I can say this one is a keeper, the launches are fast but not fast enough to make my stomach hurt, the only part that really got my stomach feeling empty is the part where you go backwards and the track drop, other than that, this is my favorite coaster of all time.
This video had me smiling ear to ear the whole time. If that’s how it feels watching a video of it, I can’t imagine how thrilling it is in person.

Rode Slinky for the first time today, was ok for a family coaster but we had to wait 75 mins for it. Hagrids is fantastic! We waited less than 40 min which was a bonus

As somebody who rode it 3 times in on my first ever trip to universal I’m telling you this is a MUST DO!! 10 out of 10 and would definitely do again and would recommend to all
This coaster is truly magical! It feels like love for the franchise was poured into it. It’s fast, fun, and unique. Feels like your on a motorcycle. No cheesy screens or flashy lights. It’s animatronics and good storytelling. The backwards part and the little drop really surprised everyone. It has become my favorite coaster by far in any park and I’ve been going to the parks for years. Can’t wait to try it out at night! :D

This comment is for those of you with really bad roller coaster anxiety! I have anxiety about riding any type of ride lol but I know that once I do it I will love it. The whole time I’m in line for this ride I’m freaking out because it is honestly much much faster than what it looks like in the video, but I promise you it is not bad! Im the type of person that feels like I’m about to pass out in line from being so scared and is freaking out like a baby the whole time lol. But the closer we got to the ride the more scared I got even though I know I’ll probably like it and want to ride it a million times in the end. I decide I might as well hop on because it can’t be too bad and boy and I glad I did!! It is super fast but honestly it only gives you the feeling in your stomach when you start speeding up but after that it’s just a smooth ride. There is a few little drops and they are not bad at all the feeling that I hate that I get in my stomach was barley there and when It started I was holding on to my seat the whole time but by the end my hands were holding the handles and it was so much more fun it felt like I was flying on an actual motorcycle. It does go backwards and drop and the drop is literally 3 feet I read in another comment. The drop feels like nothing and I think I got that feeling in my stomach for literally half a second and the backwards part is the best part I feel like. So if your nervous please listen to someone who is seriously petrified of roller coasters and will only ride smaller looking ones ( nothing like hulk, rip ride rocket, velocicoaster, etc) this ride is definitely a must!! Some comments on this post scared me because I always watch the ride while I’m in line and read the comments but it was not even as bad as they said and I’m thankful I found the kind comments like this one that helped me! This is now my favorite ride and I can’t wait to go back and ride it again!!!!

Thank you so much for this. I really needed to hear this, my family absolutely love roller coasters, and I’m that one party pooper who sits and waits in the waiting room at all roller coasters. I’m excited to try this next time I get annual passes again. The last time I went, I went on Gringotts for the first time after sitting out for so long, it was a blast, and it’s my favorite ride even after I thought it would be terrifying! You have made me a lot more brave now when I head back. 😊
Personally I was never a fan of rollercoasters , whenever I go to the theme park with my family I just carry all the stuff for my family , last September I was in Orlando and my sister forced me on this ride , the first part of the ride my life flashed by by the second half I started to enjoy it , I ended up going another time on this and once on the velocicoaster

I went on it for the first time yesterday. It was still the Dueling Dragons when I went the last time. They were fun, but this ride is so much better. I agree with the comments that say it's much faster than it looks. It is intense but so much fun! I usually get anxious before getting on coasters, so if you feel the same way, I recommend that you just get on it because it's so worth it! ♡
Broke my phobia i hagrid's and the mummy yesterday, I cried a lot afterwards, I couldn't believe I broke a life long phobia and actually love it, they were both awesome, quite strange how fear can be pleasurable, never dealt pleasurable fear in my life before riding both

I love this ride because it’s intense, fast, and amazingly well themed, but it’s also still a borderline family coaster. my grandpa was even able to ride with us and he’s over 70!

I absolutely LOVED this ride, but HATED the hogwarts ride! Usually I'm really good with stuff like that, but that ride actually kinda wigged me out at some points.
Yes, I’m not a big rollercoaster fan but I will enjoy these types of coasters like hagrids where it’s not to big and not to little.

Fun Fact: Myself and my Wife road this back in March, and when it dropped, the ride got stuck for about 20 seconds. At one point we could hear the other car on the track above us. We legit thought it was going to drop on us and we were going to die.
Thankfully, we didn't! Was still one of my favorite rides at the park, despite the moment of imminent death
It's not physically possible for the train car above you to drop down on you. Rides are built with computer systems and safety precautions. If you were on the bottom section the car on the other level would be stopped by the computer until you left the section and cleared the section

I have the same fear and every time I get on the ride I get stuck at the bottom. If this helps your fear, the other car actually goes to a different launch bay. So you hear them as they load into their drop. This doesn't stop me from thinking the worst though lol

This looks absolutely amazing..I love the minimalism of it in terms of track layout..just straight speed and nice soft curves for the most part.
Mark Fairleigh i went on it opening day, waiting 9.5 hours. Let me tell you it’s smoother than butter. Those curves look soft but they are extreme and it’s amazing. I was in the motorbike and I pointed something out to my boyfriend in the sidecar and when we hit that curve my lower half was bent 90 degrees and my upper was still straight up. 😂 it was amazing. I can’t wait to go on ahain

this is easily my FAVORITE roller coaster. i can’t count how many times i watched this video when hagrid’s ride came out not know how soon i’d be experiencing it for myself (in 2021). even with the many times i’ve watched this video hagrid’s ride was still a great surprise.
That drop was soo crazy I kept looking around too see what was gonna happen and then boom
I was surprised at how FAST this ride is. The videos don’t do it justice lol I got lucky and I hopped on the line after it had been closed for a thunderstorm and walked right on to the single rider line. 10 minute wait if even! But if I had to wait , it would have definitely been worth it!
So lucky! me and my family went on the second or third day the ride officially opened, we had to wait in line for 4 hours.
So true, it was a LOT faster than me and my sister expected it to be, it was really scary. Especially being in the front seats.

Went on this for the first time last weekend. Honestly, it was fantastic. I didn't research the ride, watch videos, or anything, so the entire ride was a complete surprise from beginning to end. The video doesn't do it justice and looks super slow on camera, but once you get going, you get zooted fast! I rode the motorbike side and it really was like riding a bike, holding onto the handles the whole time. Going backward and the drop was completely unexpected, but it was A FREAKING BLAST!
Excellent footage!!! Crystal clear and steady as much that can be expected on a thrill ride. Very nice!

Certainly not the scariest ride I’ve ever been on but definitely one of the funnest. Ignore anyone who says this ride is “insane” cause it’s not. Velociraptor is insane, Hulk is partially insane but this ride is pure fun. And the drop that everyone makes reference to, it’s over before you can even open your mouth to yell. Go on the ride and have a blast!!!

When I first went in this i thought it was insane, this was really one of the first real coasters I ever went on but I get what your saying it’s not nearly as intense since you’re really only going straight no inversions or stuff like that it was just the speed that got me

Omg this honestly made me cry. I’m from Ireland and I went to Florida about 4 months ago, and I’m obsessed with Harry Potter so I couldn’t wait for universal studios. Hagrids ride was honestly my favourite and it’s so good. It’s so much better at night time tho, everything is lit up and it’s so beautiful. I also cried coming off the ride, it was so amazing, I could spend hours on it and not get bored. I loved the whole Harry Potter world in America, it was the experience of a lifetime and I will never forget it ❤️

This ride was amazing! I went it on it about 7 times in a row when I was at universal last year (before Covid) since it was at night and most people had already left the park. So much fun!
I rode it for the first time this year and at night! It's way better at night, gives you the feel of being in the forbidden forest. This had to be my favorite ride!
Rode this three times this week, it's a LOT more intense than any video makes it out to be. Those launch sections are super forceful!
@Hawa Rashid I don't think it is, it's more fun than scary! I would say it's more geared toward families as opposed to hardcore thrill seekers. But it's definitely more intense than say Flight of the Hippogriff or Escape from Gringots.

Just rode this Friday night... it was the best roller coaster I have ever been on!! I am not a big coaster person AT ALL and this was so doable. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! The video doesn't even do it much justice! When you're on it you are going at an insane speed!
The very back on the motorbike (not the sidecar) is a beautiful experience and i love riding there again and again

I went to universal with a friend who can't go on 3d rides or rides with screens. He couldn't go on minions, transformers, f&f, the simpsons. Come to think of it he only went on Hulk and the rock and roll one.
Me too. I have amblyopia and cannot see 3D.
That's why I'm glad Disney has lots of non-screen rides too. Big Thunder, Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Rock-n-Roller Coaster...all super fun and no CGI.
I waited 2 hours for this because my aunt really wanted to and I thought it was gonna be a ride that just went on circles but I really loved it and the drop was so unexpected, I was also scared though because people in line were talking about how they loved it so I knew something unexpected would be in it
the ride would be amazing on its own anyway BUT when you know all of the creatures and the features in the layout it would make it 100x better

Before this ride I hadn’t ridden an actual roller coaster since I was nine. Thank you Hagrid for reminding me that I don’t like rollercoasters.
Never watched a Harry Potter movie ever, had no clue what this coaster was, and fully expected it to suck. Boy was I wrong. It was a blast and had some surprises I definitely wasn't anticipating.
4 things amaze me -
1: That they had the land to build such an expansive track layout
2: That they managed to keep uninterrupted sightlines for pretty much the entire ride
3: That this not only has EXTREMELY impressive theming, but also a reverse track switch AND a drop feature?!
4: Rainbow-anus farting scorpion thing.
at first they didn’t have the land, they replace dragon challenge with this ride. don’t get me wrong this ride looks good, but they replaced an absolute amazing ride and that kinda sucks
That would be a blast-ended skrewt. hahaha
1) This replaced Dragon Challenge, which was a pair of B&M inverts. They took up a huge amount of space.
2) They did a great job of hiding backlot areas, but seeing as most the ride is ground or near to ground level it wasn't too difficult. It's no less impressive though.
3) Track switching isn't impressive anymore. The speed at which the tracks switch is made is Very impressive though. If this is the track switch system that Intamin are now using, their coaster at Parc Asterix is France will be something special.
4) Rainbow farting is the best, no matter what animal it is.
@@leahcloudforest7259 I would disagree. Even with a low coaster count like mine (in or around 40) I still wouldn't say that it's top 5. It was solid, but Dragon Challenge, in my opinion, doesn't touch Hulk or Expedition Everest in the same city. I've yet to go to SeaWorld or Busch Gardens Tampa, but seeing as it's not even the best coaster in its park or for me top 3 in the complex I wouldn't say it "amazing", it was fun but nothing really stood out to me, and it felt like the only draw was the duelling aspect when that was running.
In fact from all reports, they weren't even the best of their kind in Florida (I get to ride Montu at BGTampa next year so I will know for myself). With SWO and BGT vying for the best thrill coasters in Florida, I don't think Universal should try to compete with those parks and just offer a rock solid cross-section of rides and coasters for the whole family.

For everyone super scared of rollercoasters this post is for you!! The drop is only three feet, a worker let me know! Its a super small drop, it goes backwards just for a little bit but its not crazy fast or bad. The ride itself is extremelyyyy fast, it speeds up at random unpredicted points and it will take your mask off! Mine almost flew off and I had to grab it. But there are no huge drops or loops or anything awful, as long as you don’t mind super fast speed and turns you’ll be ok. I have tons of anxiety about rollercoasters and I N E V E R ride any, but I was determined to do this one and I was proud and happy I did. You hear hagrids voice throughout which is very comforting, as cheesy as it sounds.

Dude it actually looks so sick... Way better than I was expecting. I didn't go on it, cause the line was too long, and I thought it was just a lil roller coaster... but this looks actually beautiful, the whole ride is a piece of art.

I went to universal about a month ago. This ride was my absolute favorite ride in the whole park! We went to both parks, every roller coaster. This is super fun, I loved it.
It’s so awesome that we finally have a new ride that isn’t just seats in front of a big screen. A ride that is all animatronics.
I love it. And I would totally ride it if I wasn’t so scared of that drop.
But I’ll try to get over it.

This is one of my new favorite rides. We went to universal a few weeks ago and I was AMAZED by this ride.
I stumbled off shaking and sobbing. Full blown panic attack after the 5th launch.
My sister and I recently went on the ride (front row) and it is a lot faster than it looks in the video. We also stopped right before we went up a hill for a drop and were sat there for a minute before it suddenly took off again. The ride does have a few bugs (we stopped about 3 times) but it is new so there’s bound to be bugs. I’d give the ride a 9/10 as I would have loved to see creatures as you were zooming past the forest.
The bugs are normally for safety to make sure tracks are in place and ready to move or because larger people that don’t fit try to cheat past the queue and get on the coaster and the restraints won’t lock. They have to stop the moving walkways and boarding/unloading the trains when that happens.
How much do you feel in your stomach? Im not sure i want to go on because im very sensitive to drops
@@EstoyPensando There are very few drops. It is more of an acceleration ride. You really feel the bike push you back in your seat, but there aren't really any bad drops.

so I went on this recently and my gf and I were luck enough to get front row and let me tell you this ride was so fun. I love the mini speed boosts that happen over and over again.
this ride is awesome! road it for the first time today and it malfunctioned a little bit, leaving us stuck in the dark forest after the big drop with the lights off for a while😅 they gave us a chance to ride it again right after it for our troubles 😊
