    Greetings Dr Solar. I’m looking forward to you showing the Deye 5Kva with Pylontech as Grid-tied, reason being that I’m trying to figure out if I need a CT Clamp to make sure the anti-islanding is working even though “zero export” is set.

    • @drsolar

      We have the CT clamp on every installation. And they recommend that we install them. We are not grid tied per say, but the inverter has the ability to sell back to the grid. Use the CT clamp and you are good.

    Wonderful video as usual Dr Solar. It's nice to know that you are having a net positive view of the inverter. Is the fan loud enough to be a factor in considering where to locate the inverter in the house?

    • @drsolar
      @drsolar  Před 4 lety +2

      The Victron and Schneider inverters were just as loud and louder when the battery is being charged. I had become so accustomed to the silence from the LuxPower. I would not install it in the living room or bedroom. The inverter is IP65 and can be installed outdoors. So your options are plenty

  • @AlongCamePollie
    @AlongCamePollie Před 4 lety +2

    Hi Doc, interesting review. Noise is a common problem for end-users and as you've mentioned Victron units are also loud. The GoodWe ES is nice and quiet (fanless design) once getting used to it using this or a Victron can be a problem. Whether using Victron, GoodWe or Deye, all seem to be good in their own respect. I have a couple of questions:
    1. What is the app called to access the monitoring? (is the web site different to the app?)
    2. Does the inverter when purchasing it come with an energy meter or a CT? (I know you're off-grid so maybe not relevant)
    3. The fan you say comes on when the unit is working (be it charging of batteries, or measured temp > x, load > y etc) - So isn't on 24/7?
    Regards

      1. Solarman. Solarman the website pro.solarman.cn

    Hi Dr. Solar, greetings from Zimbabwe again. I’m loving your channel and move from the expensive former supplier. I’m wanting to get your comparative opinion on Dye vs LuxPower on Pylontech batteries. I too would appreciate to have:
    • less components
    • less noise
    • more flexible user interface
    • support (installation, backup & sales) - these products are unknown in our part of the world…any ideas & advice would be most appreciated.
    I had a 24v 3Kva system on AGM batteries which has reached EOL on AGM with 12 x 250Watt panels. I’m researching & wanting to go the lithium LifePO4 route using Pylontech battery & scaling to 5Kva. Sadly it seems I may have to change my wiring. Minus the PV it seems like it’s putting a whole new system which is frustrating and costly. What would you propose?

    • @drsolar
      @drsolar  Před 4 lety

      @Moffat Hello from Lagos Nigeria. 21 years ago we had a lady from Zimbabwe watch our son. She was an incredible woman and she showed how warm and friendly people from Zim are. I have no experience with the Pylontech. The folks at Dyness left Pylontech to start their company. Pylontech is a know brand and it works with Deye and LuxPower. The LuxPower inverter has the better app but the interface on the inverter is horrible. It requires that you use the app or the web to configure it. It does not have a fan so that is a big plus when it comes to noise. It is limited to 3600 watts when it is battery only. The AC charger is limited to 60 amps. The Deye has a fan so that is the only negative. Can output the full 5 kw. Much better and intuitive screen interface. 120 amp AC charger. They both have dual MPPT and monitoring. You don't need to change your AC or PV wiring. All you need to do is increase your string voltage and change the breakers or fuse between the PV and inverter. They both can go up to 500V DC. So your panels can be connected 12 in series. Deye is sold as SunSynk in SA. So you can find it there.

    Hi again. Have you connected a wind turbine to a deye inverter? And if you did would you mind sharing on where you connected it to? If not do you perhaps know the setup? I was wandering if one could connect it to one of the mppt's or should you use a separate charge controller, but if you use a separate charge controller how would one the manage the incoming volts when the batteries are full?

    • @drsolar
      @drsolar  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello Johann. I hope all is well with you. No I have not done a wind turbine with it. From my rudimentary understanding. It goes into the MPPT and then you go into the advanced function setting for wind turbines. You will still need a wind turbine controller between the inverter and your turbine.

      @johanncover1988 Před 2 lety +1

      The problem with transformers less inverters is that they are very susceptible to lightning strikes on the grid. When there is a transformer those high in rush voltages and spikes are significantly dampened by the transformer protecting the electronics. But the d e y e inverters have built in lightning surgery aresters that help mitigate the damage from lightning strikes thereby offering the protection that a transformer would give but less the weight and cost.

    Hi there Sir, the 100% same of deye inverters are available in Pakistan but they have changed the logo and name,
    Nitrox 5G 5KW .... otherwise it's all the same to same... but I didn't use yet,

    Hi Dr Solar. Is the Deye able to switch the generator off again and return to inversion when it recognizes the batteries are charged? Also can it choose between switching on generator or the grid to manage loads and charge the batteries. Would I need to only have either the grid or a generator and not both as how would it differentiate the two?

    • @drsolar
      @drsolar  Před 11 měsíci

      Thank you for watching and commenting. The system will look for the grid first. If you have checked the generator charge and are using the dry contact it will start and stop the generator based on parameters you set. Sadly it won't switch to the grid if the grid comes.
