Live Coaching Session with 1.25 million Mastery Point Rakan Main! (Streamed Live July 31 2023) - FD

This was a special session that lasted 5 hours and was streamed live (over at / featherdaddylol ) instead of privately offline, at their request. Usually, a typical coaching session with me includes:
- A 150 minute (2.5 hour) long private session for $100 Canadian ($75~ American).
For those who are intersted, during a coaching session with me, you would stream your League ranked games to me live through Discord. During this time I will give you any and all advice that has helped me reach the title of former rank 1 support in NA, including advice related to:
- Developing support champion mastery + crucial macro-game skills to enable you to outplay and carry your games across all ranks through your mechanical skill and overwhelming macro-based map presence in the support role, which notoriously has a hard time carrying games with bad teammates, especially in lower ranks.
- Developing a fluid understanding of matchups to enable you to outplay + counter even the toughest matchups in addition to thoroughly understanding powerspikes/when to be aggressive in lane.
- Cutting out any uncertainty and developing confidence in your ability to always be in the right place at the right time in relation to early game roaming + mid-late game macro where many players struggle.
- Developing decision making skills in relation to the tough, close-call, game-deciding moments that League can have.
- Cutting out common bad habits + developing good long-term habits in their place.
- Preventing common mistakes that lose players games.
- Understanding the meta + how to draft appropriately to the meta.
- Learning to stay cool even in the most tilting moments to secure those extra wins

Some rakan questions i was wondering about if someone smart and kind wanna answer
1. If your adc gets outscaled, eg lucian vs twitch, do you need to be winning lane or should you still try to scale.
2. Do you think it is ever worth building zekes with a samria assuming it procks off her ulti (it might not idk)
3. What situations would you take E or Q level 1
I can help with this one!
1. Regardless of what the ADC matchup looks like in terms of who outscales who, Rakan usually doesn't really care since he is most effective as a diving champion and not a peeling champion. This means Rakan is effective on his own as a scaling champion outside of what his ADC looks like power level wise in the mid-late game. Even if you noticed that your ADC gets outscaled by the late game and then wanted to force plays in the early game to take advantage of this, a lot of the time as Rakan you can't force kills in laning phase pre 6 anyways due to his very weak early killing power. Contrary to how most bot lane matchups go with engage supports, Rakan actually needs his ADC to enable him (once again due to his very weak early laning power from lack of CC, low damage, and low engage range) in order to find success engages and therefore, kills and subsequently a lead in the early game.
TL;DR~ Don't worry about which ADC outscales who, either play for laning phase with a high synergy ally ADC (these are usually Tristana, Lucian, Samira, Nilah, a really good Twitch, Xayah, and Draven), or just be safe during lane and scale to the mid-late game where you have consistent access to your ultimate and therefore become a useful champion.
2. Yes, from my understanding Zeke's applies from each tick of Samira ult, which makes it a very valuable combo and practically the only scenario in which Zeke's could be build on Rakan and be good.
3. Q and E starts are actually much more common than you would think. Almost always engaging level 1 actually spells out disaster for Rakan since he has no mobility for escaping afterwards and squishy base stats that force him to take a lot of damage as he slowly walks away from the target he engaged on. This usually means that unless you're playing with a very strong level 1 champion like Draven or Xayah, engaging level 1 is actually a very bad move since you will very likely take more damage than they will. So even though most Rakan's start W level 1, most of the time that is only for the pressure of the threat of being able to engage on them so your opponents can't just walk all over you, but in reality you still won't engage since you lose level 1. However, if your opponents call your bluff and realize that you lose level 1 even with a W landing on them, and as such are walking all over you anyway, then a Q start to begin healing up the damage you're taking is not a bad idea at all. E start is much less common than the Q and W, but it could have some decent use if you're versing a strong level 1 engager like Pyke or Nautilus so in case you mess up your E and have the first dash canceled by their CC, then you can always E again. Also sometimes being able to shield your ADC from damage instead of CC'ing them with W is better if the trade is short and not an all in. Still though, if they're engaging on your ADC and that's why E start is useful from the shield, and not just the mobility, than the W start is probably still better since it would prevent them from chasing your ADC further after they engaged on them, because most likely it is an all in to the death.
TL;DR~ Q start can be nice versus poke lanes since engaging level 1 with W is usually bad and E start can be nice versus strong level 1 engagers to give yourself mobility to dodge their hooks in addition to having the option of protecting your ADC with a high base shield.

The short answer is:
1. Star Guardian (which I think will be surpassed by Redeemed Star Guardian which will release in a few months)
2. Broken Covenant (if you're willing to buy some chromas, especially the red one IMO)
3. IG
Personally, I love Star Guardian the most due to the new animations that fix some of the goofier looking animations that base Rakan has such as his homeguard animation, stopping animation, and also adds a much cleaner-feeling W animation as well. However Star Guardian also contains great new voice lines and it goes without saying the visual and sound effects all look fantastic. With that being said, in a 2-3 months we are receiving Redeemed Star Guardian, which I believe will also have new voice lines, new animations, and without a doubt fantastic visual and sound effects as well. I think that Redeemed Star Guardian will be better than regular Star Guardian due to the fact that Riot skipped a few corners when making regular Star Guardian, but likely won't do that for these new skins. For now though, I think Star Guardian is the best skin.
Obviously Star Guardian, or even Redeemed Star Guardian, will both cost 1820, so a bit more than your average skin. So, if you're looking for something within a cheaper price range that still looks super clean, I would suggest Broken Covenent (especially if you are willing to spend a few extra dollars on chromas, since its bundle exclusive red chroma, or really any of Broken Covenant's chromas, are beautiful), Arcana (base skin I think is best, but there is also chromas for this one), or IG, which is seasonal to be able to purchase during world finals, but that is coming up within a few months so you wouldn't have to wait that long.

More or less, yes. I do recommend that you go Radiant Virtue with Aftershock and Shurelya's with Summon Aery, but theoretically you could mix and match Shurelya's, Radiant, Aftershock, and Aery. I just think that they tend to synergize with one more than the other usually.
Otherwise the flex items stay pretty much the same. Going Radiant + Aftershock? You're gonna want to opt in very likely for more tanky options like an Abyssal Mask, Knight's Vow or Thornmail. Going Aery + Shurelya's? You can still opt in for a tanky item if you'd like, or you can double down and opt in for more utility like Redemption, Imperial Mandate, or Mikaels, which tends to be the better choice if you already thought it was a good game to go Aery + Shurelya's, which means likely you already have engage/frontline and they likely have less assassin-y high damage threats.

Where to ward in general and for dragon/baron to avoid common pinks and place them safely when you have no vision. Mostly from Blue side's perspective, but could be generalized to Red side.
-General wards/tips
--47-35 Placing control wards (though I think this is good for normal wards if you can't ward tri-bush) in river bush for bot lane to better cover people coming out of tri-bush. (warding as far toward mid in river is not optimal)
--48:44 Placing the ward in the bush behind red buff closer to raptos
--Hold your W when getting vision, use Q to scout if you can
--Use scanner to walk up and past common ward areas AND to let you see if someone is in a bush if it is on the other side of the wall (like on river bush) 56:48
-Dragon wards
--50:10 Above dragon pit, directly behind where he spawns to cover rotations from the bush behind red buff and tri-bush while also being away from the common pinks in both bushes
-Baron wards:
--52:30 Placing a ward on the wall in the river that Baron's line of sight would hit to avoid common pink in river bush and pink in pixel bush. ( do it safely by doing it over the wall from Blue buff)
