    My favorite Bible is the Evidence Study Bible from Ray Comfort's ministry, Living Waters. It's full of articles about how to evangelize and explain the Bible to others. And it does it in a way everyone can understand.

    I will have to say this. I do not believe it is right or fair to argue that the articles by Ravi Zacharias should be removed simply because of his revealed sins. If that's the case, then let's remove all of David's Psalms from our Bibles, because he was a murderer and adulterer, which is far worse than anything Ravi did. No, the God who gives grace and forgave David's sin also provides for Ravi.

      I hear you. At the same time, there are some for whom the controversy would overshadow the point of the articles. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

    I picked up the leather touch CASB (Christian Apologetics Study Bible) today.
    I would have preferred larger text, even on notes.
    Also was hoping for Red Letter version (not sold in this version).
    I don't understand why people still print Jesus's words in black. It's harder to dig what he says out of the mass of text.
    The optimal equivalence method of translation seems to be okay. I'll know more the deeper I get into it.
    Happy to say there is sufficient margin to place notes.
    Other than those two issues, I will use it but don't know if it will replace my 1984 Thompson NIV which has decades of notes and is getting a new cover.

    This is a good review of a good study Bible. I have this Bible. I keep it for the study notes. I'm not a fan of the hcsb, but enjoy the study notes. [I have a joyce meyer study bible that I keep for the Amplified Bible part. I'm not a jm fan.] The articles and various little notes are very useful and worth reading. My "regular study Bible" is a John MacArthur Study Bible in ESV.

    I need to study the Bible. I have watched Ravi many years ago. I had heard what he was accused of. While it is horrible and I say this as a women who was once physically raped. I don't belive his teaching should be erased. I feel he was given a gift of explaining to people. Yes with that comes a lot responsible towards God and your daily walk. None of us are without sin. Christianity is the belief that Jesus died for our sins. He forgives us if we come to him with repentance. Idk Zacharias heart and if he ever made things right with God. But as a believer I don't believe it is my place to condem him when God forgives and uses sinners for his glory. Listening to him several years ago truly blessed me. That was of God. If God can forgive how can I not. I hope he made his sins right with God before he passed. I pray that those women who were hurt by him find peace and are able to heal.

      Yes, we need to study the Bible. Glad Ravi’s work was helpful to you and I hope he was repentant before his death. Unfortunately, his situation can needlessly cast doubt on arguments which he learned from others. Wholly apart from this, I still like the Student version on this Bible best. Sometimes what might seem culturally motivated brings out the sense of the Greek better
      as is the case for phrases like “brothers and sisters” instead of just “brothers” and words like “people” instead of “men.” Is that what you’re talking about here?

  • @AndreFavron
    @AndreFavron Před 9 měsíci

    wow - too bad that Ravi is so obviously in hell - according to our modern compassionate Christianity - because of his struggle with sexual sin. (He NEVER had an affair - he was "accused" of "grooming" some of his counselling clients via his Blackberry...) I am grieved at how few have shown the grace that David received for his adultery - oh yeah, and murder.

    • @apologeticsguy
      @apologeticsguy  Před 9 měsíci

      I don’t know anyone who asserts that he is in hell, but I do think that, for some, the evidence for Christian truth claims can be overshadowed by the controversy surrounding his name. He was mostly drawing on preexisting arguments for his apologetics, so future editions could employ authors who worked with those earlier sources.
