    >> *I REMEMBER ALL THIS AS I LIVED IT THEN. >> IN LOS ANGELES . WHERE I LIVED... I STREET RACED MY 67 SS 396 4 SPEED CHEVELLE WITH 427 HEADS AND EVERY SINGLE UPGRADE YOU COULD THINK OF INCLUDING A CUSTOM MADE HUGE SOLID LIFTER CAM AND A 30 POUND STEEL FLYWHEEL.. NEVER LOST TOO MANY REVS BETWEEN SHIFTS THEN.. WE RACED THAT CAR IN ALL 5 SO CAL COUNTIES. OVER 300 RACES. 99% FROM A 20 MPH ROLL... WITH ALL UPGRADES AND 4:88 GEARS I LOST 3 RACES IN 2 1/2 YEARS.. A 69 440 DART.. A 67 CAMARO WITH A TRACO ENGINE WITH OVER 400 HP AND THE CAR WAS LIGHTER LIKE THE DART.. HIS TRACO ENGINE OUT OF CULVER CITY COST OVER $3,000... THAT WAS HUGE DOLLARS THEN.. A LIGHTER BB NOVA GOT ME TOO. ALL 3 LOSSES WERE LOST BY LESS THAN 10 FEET. YES.. I HAVE PROOF OF ALL THIS...RACED AT LIONS DRAG STRIP TOO. 1320 FEET. 12:15 ET.. AT 120 MPH.. MISS THOSE DAYS..

I bought a 70 blue/white Baldwin Motion Camaro out of a buddies insurance yard for $600 in 79. It was a recovered theft. Put back on the road with a 350 and used it as my daily driver for a couple of years.

At the 7:18 mark, the picture of the magazine mentions at California Highway Patrol Dodge. I’m thinking it may have been the 1969 Polara with the 440. At the time it was the fastest car the CHP ever had up until the ‘94-‘96 LT-1 Caprices arrived on scene. But flash forward to current times & once again it’s a Mopar, being the Dodge Chargers.

The Cobra was a 289 inch motor. Joek used to test it on Sunrise Highway in front of Motion! I remember it had 4 Weber carbs but never a blower of any kind. Back in 1966 a 10.60 out of any street car was a world beater!
