My dad gently waking me. In my house, we gently wake each other, even in emergencies. So when my dad sat on my bed and gently shook me awake, I immediately thought that it was for school, looked at the clock, saw that it was nine, and immediately started to scream and hyperventilate. He keeled over laughing.
Another time also involved my dad gently waking me, but it was actually scary. A bit of backstory - I usually am the first to wake up. And when I was little, shortly after the first story, I began to wake up at ridiculous times as my insomnia got worse. As my insomnia got worse, my sleep walk-in and talking did too. To the story- So one night, my dad smells something funny, and my mom (whom has a very weak immune system) was feeling very weak. My dad suspected a carbon monoxide leak. So I set like 10 alarms before I go to bed feeling mildly concerned. That night I proceed to turn off all but the first alarm in my sleep. I woke up groggily to my parents waking me up as calmly as I could while on the verge of tears. I remember taking a good amount of time to get ready, but it felt like seconds. When I stepped outside for school I saw a fire truck and was really confused. My parents woke up when my first alarm went off and were confused that it didn’t stop ringing until after like 5 minutes. (All which I slept through) They got scared after not hearing me walk around after a while and immediately assumed that the carbon monoxide leak had killed me in my sleep. They woke me up and called the fire department. There was indeed a carbon monoxide leak, however, my room was virtually unaffected by the leak. Long story short, I saved my mom’s life by sleeping in
Edit: so many likes......oh my lord!

Went to Germany on a high school trip with 8 other guys and 12ish girls. Slept in a 17th century building-turned-hostel in Rotenburg for one of the nights. The teacher chaperoning us said that the last school trip she went on no one was able to get a good nights sleep at this place. Weirded people out. The building looked creepy from the outside but the inside was all modernized. The guys slept in one room on one side of the second floor hall, the girls on the other, with some other tourist families scattered between us. At about 3am, I was awoken by a super loud terrifying scream, sounded like a grown man who had just seen a loved one die. It sounded like it was right next to me, so I sat up and looked around. All the other guys also got up and said “did you hear that?” And “are you guys okay?” After we found out none of us screamed, we opened our door, and every other family was already in the hallway investigating. All of them said it sounded like it was in their own room, and everyone described the scream as something completely different. Some said it sounded like a kid, others a grown woman, one said it sounded like they screamed “oh god” or “help.” After 5 minutes or so of talking to everyone, there were super loud footsteps above us, running at full speed up and down the hallway above our floor. One of our group members, still extremely tired, decided to investigate. After he had been gone for 10+ minutes, we went back to bed. About 20 minutes later he comes back into the room and climbs onto his bunk without saying anything. We asked him what happened, and he replied with “oh yeah there are no stairs, we’re on the top floor.” None of us got a good nights sleep.

    • @True_Rarity
      @True_Rarity Před 5 lety +142

Also, the next morning the girls weren’t awakened by the scream or the footsteps. Yet still had trouble sleeping, but they were literally like 4 rooms down from us. The guy who went to look for the footsteps said he remembered walking up and down the hallway but didn’t remember anything else. Maybe he was just too tired. We made jokes about the event throughout the rest of the trip, but it still was extremely unsettling for all of us.

    Funny story
I live in quite a big house, I was sleeping downstairs alongside my mother, and my father was sleeping upstairs. Apparently my mother was hearing some footsteps and banging noises coming from the living room and kitchen at around 4AM. She knew it was not my father so she called 911. The police came and that's when I woke up to the sound of like 3 officers marching through the house with their flashlights and pistols. I asked my mother what was going on and she told me to stay in my room and lock the doors, as there could be someone inside the house. The police eventually went upstairs and that's when my Father woke up and thought that the police were actually the robbers trying to lure him out. After a while the police were able to convince my father that they were actually the cops and they continued the search. After like an hour they concluded nobody was in the house or tried to get in the house and they soon left. The next day when I came back from school my parents told me they found a Bat in the living room. So it was a bat that cane from the chimney that kept crashing into our glass doors and walls and my mother thought it was a break in

I got one: I have a giant, 130lbs black Great Dane with cropped ears. He is absolutely gorgeous - a show dog. To give a visual on how ginormous he is, I am 5'4 and he can easily touch my chin with his nose just standing normally on all fours.
I had been watching a horror movie with my boyfriend and we fell asleep. Usually my dane gets crated at night so he doesn't eat the bathroom garbage, but that night I fell asleep accidentally and forgot about him. I wake up at 4am to a giant black silhouette of him staring straight at me, like 10 inches from my face. I almost fucking shit myself, his eyes were gleaming in the moonlight and everything.
I realized after a solid 20 seconds of being frozen in place that it was my giant goof of a dog confused because he'd never seen me asleep before and he had to pee.

    Here's mine:
I was about 14 at the time and home alone for the night while my dad worked an all night shift at his work. I ended up falling asleep on the couch while watching videos or something, but I was woken up at around 3:30am by knocking on the side door of the house, that was directly next to the couch. The side door had no windows and is very obviously the side door, so no one ever knocks on it. I have absolutely no idea why, but I just got up and opened the door, wondering who the F*** was out there in the middle of a night. Someone said that they had a delivery for Mark(Downstairs neighbour) and just held a weirdly wrapped package in their hands. Like it was white with tape everywhere. I just told them they had the wrong house and they left.. Needless to say I got yelled at for answering the door.
Also at that house, I was woken when I again fell asleep on the couch by someone trying to open the side door. I remember hearing the foorsteps on the deck and door knob turning(thankfully locked), but I never did hear the footsteps of them walking away. So I just laid on the couch comepletely still until the sun rose and my dad got up. I was freaking terrified. Spooky stuff.

Imagine lying in bed, tired after a long day. Then suddenly you hear painful, loud, terrifying baby screams. But not in a crying way, but in a way that sounds like there's a child getting slaughtered.
I still can't understand how cats can sounds that way

Not in the middle of the night, but once my mom and my little sister were out jogging in the morning, but accidentally locked themselves out. I was still in the house, sleeping in my room after staying up late the night before. My mom and my sister went to my bedroom window to try and wake me (my shutters were open, but they couldn't go through it bc it has permanent screening and bars). Apparently they went as far as yelling and banging on my window's metal bars, but I still wouldn't wake up, despite being screamed at from 5 feet away. So the next thing they decided to do was to go get the hose and like. i get where they were coming from, but being blasted awake by a hose while sleeping in my own bed was one of the worst experiences ever.

So I sleep in a bunk-bed just because replacing childhood beds is expensive and I like the sheer power of looking down on everyone from my top bunk, but one night when I was about in 3rd grade, I woke up feeling weird all over, like tickly. I look around all confused and see black forms moving all over my body and scream bloody murder, which causes my sister to wake up and turn on the lights, revealing the billions of ants crawling all over my body. Not small little ants you just flick away, BIG ASS carpenter ants. I jumped right over the side of my bunk-bed and nearly broke my legs screaming and crying. Luckily my sister cracked out the winter boots and we spent hours just stomping around the entire room b/c we could only see the ants' movement in our thick shag carpet. I was deeply scarred.
Turns out sneaking halloween candy up into my bed at night and leaving the wrappers there was not the best idea, especially considering my house had a carpenter ant infestation at the time.

Where as a loud low pitch sound is easier to ignore, as it only happens for a brief moment.

My parents always tell me stories about how I scared the crap outta them when I was like 3 or 4. I was having nightmares very often and every time I woke up in the middle of the night, I just silently got out of my bed, walked to my parents bedroom next door and just stood there in the entrance, waiting for them to notice me (I was too embarrassed to tell them I had a bad dream, as a three-year-old I thought that was childish lol). Sometimes I made little noises like scratching my fingers on the door or tapping with my feet on the wooden floor. Eventually, my mother was always the one who woke up first, and she always tells me how the first thing she saw after waking up was the (in the dark almost invisible) silhouette of a small child standing in the doorframe, not making any noise except silently scratching the door. It freaked her out every time and my dad had to calm her down. Looking back at it now, they're laughing about it 😂

It happens when you are falling asleep to fast (like when you are exhausted). Your blood pressure is dropping too fast and your body thinks you are dying, so it triggers a fight or flight response.

2 things: one was realizing that I was standing on the outside of my bedroom door, able to look around, when the last thing I remembered was laying in bed facing said bedroom door from the inside. This lead to me suddenly being back in my body, in bed, still facing the inside of that door, and experiencing sleep paralysis. I'd never heard of this phenomena and had no idea what was happening. I'm convinced that if I wanted to I could do this (out of body teleportation thing) again, but that the experience was so emotionally scarring that I won't let myself.
The second was hearing my sister have a conversation with someone and saying "I wonder if Joey knows?" To which I replied "knows what?" no answer. I open my eyes, frustrated by my sister's rude question, waking me up but she's not there because she lives thousands of miles away in an other state.

And unlocked and opened the back door so slow to where it doesn’t make a noise with my knife in one hand with the tightest grip and the door handle in the other
    I look out

So I've always been sorta paranoid (watching these kinds of videos don't help that), and I will jump at literally anything and prepare for attack. I must've been around thirteen-ish give or take, and I was home alone while my family went to church. I was up in the kitchen at the table fiddling around with the computer when I heard what sounded like footsteps in the basement toy-room. Normally you can't hear someone walking around in that room from upstairs, but sometimes you can if the floor cracks, which was what I was hearing repeatedly from that room. I was freaking out and grabbed the first thing that seemed weapon-ish - my dad's huge tennis shoe. I proceeded to walk up to the basement door, open it, and yell downstairs, "I'VE GOT A WEAPON, AND I WILL USE IT! SOOOO YOU BETTER LEAVE, LIKE NOW!" and being the stupid, paranoid person I was, at the moment I heard another floor crack I proceeded to chuck the tennis shoe down stairs and leave myself defenseless. Turns out it was just the floor randomly cracking like it sometimes did and I was being easily scared because I was home alone at 9 pm.
There was another time when I was home alone, and I was also sitting at the table on the computer. My little brother was probably four around the time, so when he cried it sounded baby-ish. The basement door was open a crack, and i was listening to something probably creepy on CZcams like creepy text chat story reactions, and I thought I heard something. I immediately shut off the sound and my heart jumped into my throat when I heard what sounded like my little brother crying in the basement. But that was impossible, because I was home alone. This freaked the heck out of me and I just sat there listening to it for a second before it stopped. I waited for a minute before going to the basement door and opening it and turning on all the stair lights. It freaked me out to see a shadow on the floor which ended up being my sister's old baby doll sprawled on the floor. Needless to say I didn't want to be home alone at night for a while after that.

(for my cat acting weird, turns out he destroyed open a bag of catnip and ate the whole thing) I was so shook cause my grandfather had passed away recently so automatically I thought it was a ghost

I have a story. It was a few years back and my grandfather had just tucked me into bed. (I was like 9 or 10) and the ground seemed like it was about to pry open. I ran as fast as i possibly could into the living room on the opposite end of the house and jumped in my grandfather's arms. He said later that i had only taken 3 steps i was running so fast. The shaking stopped and we turned on the T.V to see the news... There was a 4. something earthquake and i had never felt one before... Needless to say i slept in my Grandfather and Grandmothers room that night.
Actual info from a smarter source
On Friday, February 14, 2014 at 10:23 p.m., an earthquake occurred in the midlands of SC. The epicenter was located near Edgefield SC and could be felt all over SC, Georgia, and Western North Carolina. It was reported to have been a 4.1 earthquake, which is rare for South Carolina.

Commented this on another vid, but I get nightmares routinely, I think it's because of stress or something, but anyway, a few months ago, I had a terrible nightmare. I was in my friends basement, and someine called us from her home phone. The caller ID was just the letter 'E', and there was no phone number listed. I answer, and the only sound is a static sound, like someone had their hand over the mic, and were making noises. There were no words. I hung up, and it immediatly rang again, same caller. I answer, and this time, it's the sound of heavy breathing. I hang up, again, and my friend, let's call her Ruby, says not to answer it again. My dog is with us, and he's agitated, like growling and hackles raised, and stuff. The phone rings again, and I press 'decline call'. It starts ringing again and again and again. Every time I press decline call, it starts up again. Then my actual phone rings. From 'E'. I answer, and I hear this really distorted and angry voice say 'You should wake up before you can't.' I woke up in my living room. I sleep on the top bunk, and my bed is really rickety, so my parents would have heard me, but they say they didn't. The worst part is I had the home phone in my hand, just making the dial tone. Worst experience of my life. I didn't fall back asleep that night, and I didn't go to bed the next. I've not had a dream similar to that, but sometimes, in the middle of the night, I'll wake up, and the phone will be making the dial tone noise.

Metalisha A woke up a similar way
Lightning struck near or on my neighbors car and it like SHOOK the house. The car immediately started making that alarm noise? At the time my uncle aunt and their kids were living with us (they had just moved back from Utah to Florida) and the oldest cousin (we’ll call her Lily) was sleeping with me.
Right when the lightning hit the car we both bolted up into sitting position. We looked at each other. The bed was against a wall and on the wall (obviously) was my window. I was the one on the side of the wall because I hadn’t quite learned how to not fall off the bed yet (I was 9 Lily was 12) so I kneeled up to look out the window. I hadn’t opened the blinds but there was a light emitting through.
The light was red. Before I even opened it, I looked at Lily. We both panicked. We legit thought there was a fire on my neighbors car.
Turns out it was just the cars light flashing. It was facing our direction.
      It was scary ok?

Before I start this story, I have to mention somethings:
    1. My family has this one Christmas ornament that talks when you push a button.
    2. My dad puts cardboard boxes in the attic when there isn't enough room in the recycling.
So my dad wants to put some cardboard boxes in the recycling, so naturally he asks me to do it. So I get the ladder out and climb up to get the boxes down. While i'm moving boxes around, I hear:
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
So naturally, I let out a bloodcurdling scream and almost break 20 bones by almost falling out of the attic.
The following Christmas, I immediately destroyed that ornament, and I've not been up in that attic since.

When i was about 12 i had a weird dream about my little brother and it woke me up. Few seconds after i woke up i heard my brother get out of bed and walk down the hall to the living room area. I heard him say "mommy my leg hurts really bad" (which was weird as he hadnt called her mommy in years by then) she got up to talk to him and had just enough time to catch him as he fell down the stairs and started having a seizure. She screamed, my stepdad carried him to the couch and was yelling. I came out of my room by then because i heard the screaming but didnt know what happened in between little brother saying his leg hurt to then adults screaming in terror. I got to the stairs and stepdad turned and shrieked at me to go to my room. About 10 minutes later he came out of it (i know because i heard him gasp for air and start crying) the ambulance showed up right after and said he looked okay for having his first seizure and suggested he go to the hospital to get checked out. Turns out he had a bad cause of infections in his ears that he hadnt told us about and it had gotten bad enough it messed with something in his brain. He got treated for the infections and healed up okay and no more seizures... For about 3 years. Then exact same thing happened. I woke up cause of a dream i had about my brother and had woken up with an intense pain in my left leg before i heard him walk across the hall to moms room (we had moved by then) said it again. "Mommy my leg hurts"
Mom more alert to that phrase jumped up grabbed him and pulled hin onto her bed. Heard her crying and them call the ambulance again. This time he came out of it about 5 minutes and was very angry when he came out of it. He snapped at my mom a lot (he was 10) until the paramedics helped massage his legs and seeing him alert and seem okay said maybe take him in to the hospital but didnt seem to need the paramedics to take him in but call them if it happens again. I go back to bed as they help him go downstairs so he can watch a little tv and maybe eat.
Hour passes. I wake up again leg killing me. Here them start yelling in a panic and ny mom crying into the phone. Comes out of it maybe 5 minutes later saying "I'm back. Its okay I'm back." The called the abluance and stepdad and brother go to the hospital via ambulance. I came down after they loaded him onto a stretcher to take him out. Mom closed the front door and turned to me and burst into tears.. I dont know why it happens but it has happened everytime since then if he has a seizure i wake up RIGHT before it happens. He had infections again but so bad if had spread the infection to his brain and thats why he was getting them.
