  • The sequencer on the ‪@strymon‬ Nightsky reverb pedal is an incredibly powerful feature that can seem daunting to guitarists. This mode allows you to create timed pitch-shifting effects across 8 programmable steps. By understanding how it works, you can unleash musical potential.
The Nightsky's sequencer gives individual 2-octave pitch control over 8 steps. Each step can be turned on or off, allowing sequences from 1-8 steps. Use the tap tempo switch to set the master tempo. The infinite switch keeps the sequence looping. The "back at 1" stop switch resets the sequence to step 1.
You can control the "glide" or "portamento" - the speed at which the pitch shifts between steps. Fast glides sound like chirps, while slow glides sound like waves. This amazing programmability makes the Nightsky unique among stereo reverbs.
The sequencer truly unlocks the Nightsky's potential for guitarists. It's an incredible compositional tool. By taking time to experiment with the near-endless sound design possibilities, the Nightsky sequencer can become an integral part of your tone toolkit.
Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm happy to help explain this powerful feature so you can get the most out of your Strymon Nightsky.

Thank you. Having had the pedal for a year or so wit6 my synths, it’s time to start using the sequencer in the pedal. That was a very clear demo, overview, and summary.

You’re very welcome! Happy to help in any way I can. The Nightsky is such a unique and amazing reverberator that is can do so much or so little. It’s all up to you!

This pedal is so completely powerful that is reaches far beyond what I imagined a reverb could ever do. It's an instrument in itself. The Nightsky is an absolute monster! I've had mine for some time now and have only scratched the surface of its musical capabilities. Killer vid. I have fun using an odd number of steps on the sequencer to create a very different feeling rhythm. Using all 8 is nice but I find it can be quite long feeling unless I repeat notes or something, so I much prefer to cut certain steps out of the sequence.

Yes the odd steps on the sequencer is fun! I wish there was the option to set the timing (4/4, 6/8, etc) and then have turning off a step be a rest on beat. It seems like it just shortens the sequence now. Meaning if I turn 1 of 8 off, it becomes a 7 count as opposed to an 8 count with a rest. 🤷🏻

I love Strymon stuff but this thing scares me. Sounds incredible though. 👍🏼

It’s as easy or as hard as you want it to be. Don’t let it scare you too much. It grows with you. As you get familiar with one part and start to master that, new sides of the pedal open up to explore!

Thank you very much for your video. Just yesterday I was practicing with the sequences and your example with glisando was very timely. I bought it a little out of curiosity knowing that it was not going to be the main instrument but I find it fun and in some cases and with care it could be used in recordings. I also have to say that I use it with a j 200 and a Fender Jazz, so keyboardists and guitarists will surely be able to use it in various contexts. Thank you again, it has been very educational. I forgot to say that I use it with a Blackhole and it really improves the sound a lot.

Dooood, *YOU* *RULE* .....! ❤ This video is absolute *GOLD* .... Thank you so so much for taking the time to do this....!!! 😊
, "VooDoo" no more, the NiteSky sequencer steps out into the light.....and it now has a sustained shine of it's very own"....
It even has a gliss setting, and when you tapped in a faster speed, it all seemed to change, but in a cool way.... Crazy cool, gonna go play now......inspired....! 😊

      Absolutely!! You’re so welcome 😊
I love the chance to take someone’s question and flesh it out on a video. My hope is that if it’s a question for one, it’s useful to many!
Appreciate you and all your thoughts and discussion! You’re on of the good ones!

Incredibly good sounds! I have to thank you for showcasing musical examples of what it is capable of instead of mindless nonsense like a lot of videos out there. The only thing keeping me from getting the nightsky is that there always seems to be a predelay that separates the dry signal from the reverb, and I can't understand if that's actually the case or if it can be controlled. Do you have any experience in this aspect?

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative  Před 6 měsíci

There is a secondary control for the pre-delay. It’s not marked. You hold the “texture” button and then turn the reverb knob. Clock with for a longer pre-delay. Anti clockwise for shorter
Hope that helps! Glad to make things like this to help everyone :)
