The male vocalist you are hearing is Marko Hietala. He is a well know musician in Finland, loved and respected as one of the founders of metal in that country. His voice is unique and powerful. Marko harmonizes so well with Floor, and there are songs in the Nightwish catalog where he is the lead singer. And, of course, as he is singing he is still playing that bass. To hear the full power and range of Marko's voice, I suggest that you listen to Nightwish's tribute to Pink Floyd and their iconic song "High Hopes" from the End of an Era DVD.

Marco. He has a mostly solo song with Nightwish called The Islander
I actually understand why you think it sounds like Wagner. It sounds vaguely like "Flight of the Valkyries". The parts of the verses seem to have the orchestral sound (horns?) of staccato that is somewhat loosely reminiscent of FotV. I never really thought of that.

Great reaction, and you are probably the first to say it has Wagner vibes. Many say Tuomas Holopainen is metal Mozart but for me he is more metal Wagner, so many of their songs really is close to Wagner. Maybe I hear it because Wagner is one of my favorite composers.

Didn't check the comments there but I think it's a safe bet that the epithet "Valkyrie Goddess" was mentioned? So with Wagner's "Ride Of The Valkyries", there's the possible click in your brain. That's from an opera "Die Walküre" which translates to "The Valkyrie". LOL. Coincidence? Ha... I don't think so.

Well Tuomas Holopainen the synt player who write nearly all of their music is called Metal Mozart...Maybee not Wagner but one of these composers who is going to e remembered. Nightwish Armey Sweden calling for duty.
