Apologies for the voice quality here. I clipped my microphone too high on my shirt and ruined half the recording with beard hair rustling... classic.
My presets will be added by Mercuriall in the first 6160III update, so keep an eye out for that!
That is awesome! I will look out for them.
Was wondering where the PSS stuff was when I got it right away
i had pretty much the same impression. at first i rolled my eyes because it´s another 5150. then i saw it´s the Stealth and i got stoked. then tried it and fell in love. most other 5150 amp sims feel very generic to me. but this one has that aggressive slicing pick attack ala Trivium and Machine Head that i haven´t experienced with anything else. great video. i think the S/C switch is for Stealth and Classic mode.
Hell yeah, Ryan’s back!
Great stuff as always man!
Hey man. Good to see ya.
Awesome review as always,
Dude so great to hear from you and you sharing such sic tones and jamming. I've got to say, lately it's been hard for me to get into or even enjoy music. Hearing you put the hammer to those riffs I found myself relaxed and absorbing it all like a sponge. Thank you for the gift of music and I'm glad to be here, looking forward to what's to come. :)
Glad youre back!
Awesome work!!
I scrambled to get to your channel and see this video, as expected a mercurial addition, great!
sometimes I revisit your older videos, thanks for making more content, I still haven't got a good 5150 tone with the stuff that I have
killer riffs you made
That Bastard cover was so sick dude. The plugin sounds great.
Sounds phenomenal 🤘
Awesome as always Ryan!
As many stated I also rolled my eyes at yet another 5150. But gotta admit, it sounds great and has taken Archetype Gojira in the top spot for a 5150 III tone. Super chunky and the boosts work well.
I like the builtin verb, I'm a guy who generally uses a big guitar plugin chain. External boost (where needed), main preamp/power amp setup, external IR plug. So IMO, Mercuriall should ditch the postFX sans the EQ and release FXBox and get crazy with all that lush delay and verb, etc.
I often feel like people want a full fledged solution for guitar and that thinking can be limiting. I'd rather build a unique chain with a Vadim Taranov plugin and some lost free IR's from a decade ago. In other words, Mercuriall's strategy seems to be crafting superb amps, spending lotsa R&D on unprocessed tone modeling. Then they throw external things on to round out the plugin. Maybe down the road they'll update those modulations. The guitar plugin world needs more flexible flaners.
All that to say I'm gonna pick this one up soon.
Peace
Nice hearing Poundcake get some love. DLR Halen was the best, but Van Hagar did have some absolute bangers
Never thought I'd hear you playing QOTSA. Very close to their weird tone. Also loved the Sanitarium sound
Just yesterday I checked the channel to see if I somehow missed something. Glad you are back.
Love Mercuriall software
Me too, they're some of my all time favourites.
@7:30 I couldn't agree more! Fix those fx and the weird, counter intuitive controls. The way the display the fx also is super cluttered.
I appreciate the work you go through in making these videos man! Can't wait for what's store! Also, what song is that riff/lead from @17:29? :o
Bastard - from Devin Townsend's Ocean Machine
For anyone reading this,
1) Which audio interface do you use?
2) How do you set your input gain knob on interface? At zero or just before it clips?
3) And pre-eq in the DAW before the signal hits the amp sim?
Thanks!
I personally had a 50 watt 6l6 stealth with a 4x12. I wish I still have it, ditched it when I ditched the LA gigging scene. Was one of the most awesome and versatile amps I've played. It's a common amp, I know, but holy SHIT that green channel with my Xotic BB pre in front was the most BITCHEN crunch tone, could go from killer blues to straight AC/DC when you worked the volume knob, and when I would switch to my p90 neck it could clean up and get suuuuper creamy. The blue channel was some of the most ballsy glorious rhythm tone, actually never really used the red channel. Gotta get another one when I don't have neighbors lol
Great review, sir!
C = Ivory, non-stealth version
I've gone round and round and round the guitar vst world. Mercuriall is still the best imho. They keep managing to hit something that's always useable but slightly unique in the space. Truly killer stuff. Always looking forward to whatever they're up to next.
Literal goosebumps from the Bastard riff
Thanks for the video🔥Do you plan to review MTurboAmp/MGuitarArchitect? It is pretty different from other plugins as far as I can see, would be interesting to see your opinion on it🙂
have you done your presets for the 6160 amp sim yet
i was just today watchin ur pod vids....however...i been usin audio assault stuff ...disabling the cabs.....useing 2notes wos ...then guitar rig 6 effects.....actully sounds pretty good....do u ever use audio assault stuff??
Grind machine and Headcrusher were excellent plugins you could score for free 8 or 9 years ago. I use the paid version of Headcrusher still on Tom busses, and their transient shaper was the best free alternative to Waves plugins. Their paid amps are perfectly average, in my opinion.
@@12ealDealOfficial Theyre decent and reasonably priced, some are better than others.
I have a feeling that S-C switch is probably similar to the Burn switch on the 5150 Iconic that basically changes from Signature/5150 II/5150 III/6505+ voicing to Block Letter voicing, which James Brown himself says has a thicker attack than later 5150s.
I've said before and i'll say again that Mercuriall's value to me is in the specific amps they choose to model, and whilst the Stealth is a rarely modeled take on a 5150 (only other one i can think of is in the Fender Tone Master floorboard), it's still ultimately a 5150 and i can get the tones it provides by other means. I'll admit to being biased, as my first tube amp was a clone of this circuit, but i'd have been far more excited to see a model of the Ultra/XXX/JSX because the only models of those i can think of are Kemper (or similar ) captures. Credit where credit is due, the green channel is leagues better than most other 5150 plugins and sims, both in outright sound but also versatility. Wasn't expecting QOTSA tones from this type of amp. I don't know if that specific channels is worth $70 to me, but it's something that allows this plugin to stand out from the rest.
I have a problem during instalation of the plugin. I dont know where to copy files. I know that there is description by i do not understand it. 😢I'm not technically backward, but damn
Is it a .dll?
@@12ealDealOfficial yes. I dont know where to copy them. I mean i copied it to where Reaper looks for vst and nothing. I don't see any new plugins
@@milsamilsa-is8uv First two things I can think of is: are you using the 64 bit directory? And are you using the proper vst format directory? Sometimes the install for these types of plugins goes to the wrong folder. You might also try adding directories in your vst path in Reaper.
@@12ealDealOfficialI did everything according to the instructions. I copied the downloaded folder + dll file to all possible directories with other plugins. I refreshed Reaper and nothing. DAW doesn't see at all that a plugin has been added. I'm talking about the plugin: JCM800 preamp, maybe it's screwed up. Fuck it
Ryan is back yeahhhh ... when will you be on the leon todd podcast?
Not sure, ask the man himself. But I'd rather wait a few more months when I have more to talk about 😏
@@PlagueScytheStudios after the long awaited 2 hour video i think you will have a lot to talk about
Thoughts on the new Mateus Asato archetype?
None, haven't tried it and don't really have a plan to.
Still wishing Ryan had a discord and a patreon 😢
are you sharing your presets
They will be added later in an update by Mercuriall!
i have a question is have u ever did a review on the ml sound cab plugin and any ir company u would suggest
