- On the 18th of May something quite incredible happened - I got invited to join the Beach Boys up on stage of the Royal Albert Hall for a dance!

Getting to a Beach Boys concert and hearing rarely played gems Kiss me Baby, Lady Linda and Wild Honey would be tops in my books and with backing member from the 80s on forward Jeff Foskett hitting the high notes for Mike and Bruce thats fine with me...

....but what about them Beatles ?! This year's Liverpool Convention....aka yuk..'BeatlesWeek' was meant to be the last one ...'in this form' . Someone said The Adelphi and CCT had a big disagreement...?.....but I didn't bother going as it all seems to have lost it's magic somehow . Did you go and film any of it ? I went for 25 consecutive years - from 1986...then just a couple of times since.

Only 2. Mike Love and Bruce Johnston (on mini piano ) Jeff Foskett (singing high parts and on left of stage playing guitar) has been doing Brian's high parts since early 80s. That's it. Cowsill on drums is amazing and sings Wild Honey.Most the rest are from Brian Wilsons solo concerts backup group.
But it's not The Beach Boys though, is it?
Well, it sorta is. And it sorta isn't. But close enough for me !!!
It is Mike love is on lead vocals, when he is not , you know what no Beach boys touring band, and that is a fact.

who is allowed to call themselves Beach boys these days - if Brian Wilson and Al Jardine are in one group touring as "brian wilson" and playing Beach Boys songs, and Mike Love and - what's his name - on keyboards tour as Beach Boys and play mostly the same songs ... ?
maybe then paul and ringo both could tour as the beatles!!!!!!!!
Brian Wilson was out of it for 30 years with drug addition, and never toured with band, Mike & Bruce have kept the music alive
"who is allowed to call themselves Beach boys these days" Mike leases the name from BRI, a company controlled by Brian, Mike, Al, and Carl's estate.
Someone had to use the name since Brian has moved on musically as a solo. He gave the rights to Mike.
