Some artists know how to use a stage to present a more immersive concert and this is a good example of that. It wasn't just ANOTHER performance.

I remember seeing this on cable. She was the better performance that night, it had such a sense of creativity and theatricality. You can hear the audience enjoying it. Some artists know how to use a stage to present a more immersive concert and this is a good example of that. It wasn't just ANOTHER performance.
This performance was actually very meaningful. She was showing how religion has been manipulated for too long to actually control people and not allow them to truly live authentic lives. Showing how a gay man is insane and needing to be exorcised, and showing how he is actually driven to insanity and misery because of it. That took guts to do, and the Grammys blackballed her for it.
She wasn’t showing that lol. She was just showing how a gay man was being exorcised by his religious mother because she thinks he’s Not okay cus he’s gay. That’s it. She wasn’t showing that religion has been manipulated and controlling, cus it hasn’t. People follow what they want and make their own choices. Religion isn’t alive.

This is called stage presence. Few artists from the 2010’s had it. When looking at the decade from a musical standpoint, she is the original and not to mention the best of the 10’s female rappers. There is no comparison. There simply would not be any Cardi B’s or Megan Thee Stallions without her. Nicki is the Gaga of modern hip hop. The song itself actually has a sense of melody and has an original story behind it, it’s not a typical 2010’s rap song about your everyday run of the mill gang violence or rapidly acquiring currency.
I’m so glad people are recognizing this performance now. When this came out I thought it was incredible and so cool but everyone was ripping it apart.

It was more about her lack of compliance to the leaders in the industry. They made her change her performance last minute to superbass after she already rehearsed and tweeted that she would be doing Roman holiday. If she complied they would probably have elevated her but she refused so they blacklisted her.
