Lol, I recently began to appreciate how my mom would always make those 4 dishes every single night, and never complained about it. All that prep! No short cuts. No, stick it all in an insta-pot. Sometimes she'd just fry up some spam for one of the dishes, but even that takes work!

The better brand of oyster sauce is Pearl River vs the cheaper Panda brand
The speech at the end is so true. No matter how long the day is, no matter how bad everything transpired, there is always 2-3 fresh dishes with rice on the table. I am a wife and mom now myself and I heed by what my parents bestowed on my upbringing.

I totally agree. Cooking is a life skill that everyone should have. It's a complete turn off when people brag about not being able to cook like it's a good thing. I grew up on take outs and soda, and I can tell you it's awful. It's an awful habit and it awful for your health. I love this channel because Jimmy shows how easy it is to learn the basics and just get creative with what you have.

I've gone to this place since I was a kid! Definitely not a franchise, they branched out because they've been successful, but one of the old school joints in Vancouver. Glad you liked it so much!

Jimmy is right. My mother has a job and still cook at least three dishes with a soup. At least one dish is fish and one dish is vegetables. She keep doing it for 20 years. I do not know how she is possible to do that. I couldn’t do one dish in a week. Love you mom.
