- We're doing a food review this week in Vancouver! But it's not from a restaurant, it's my Aunt/Uncle's home cooked Shanghainese food! It doesn't get more authentic than that. Starting with my favorite red braised pork and egg and a traditional noodle with shrimp oil. I can eat this all day, and I did. Like this video for more Jimmy’s taste test.
Be sure to comment on what food I should review next in Vancouver!
Come back for more food reviews, cooking videos, and I guess sometimes I'll get back to my job as a standup comedian.

"Every Chinese person has a relative in Vancouver"
Whoa. Totally true.
Not really. My aunt and uncle live in Toronto😆
So relatable
@@chengjiang6630 same lmao
Lol shit I didn't know that's a thing
nononono. My relative don't have enough money to immigrant to Canada🤣🤣🤣
You've done it... You've made the only food reviews that I can actually enjoy. Love the vids, keep em' coming
Are you saying you don't love joeysworldtour?
Earthsounds what are you even saying??? No one does not love joeysworldtour
Jason Tran 🙄🙄 so was I ..... it was sarcasm
Started to become a fan of Jimmy after watching Love Hard. Really love his performance there! Now I’m stalking his youtube channel 🤣 Didn’t know you do mukbangs, very very detailed 😁 Somebody give this man a food show!
As a born and bred shanghainese(I left shanghai when I was 18), I missed so much these local dishes... Even when you're speaking Shanghainese, I almost teared up... I loved your talk at Google and your immigrant experiences also touched a lot, as well as your stand up jokes ...
Damn ,when the “Huyo” came outta ur mouth it tooks me 2 secs to recognize that was Shanghainese, didn't know u speak Shanghainese before. That’s really dope bro,Imma call u a “Muzi ” from now on.
seeing shanghainese words in an English sentence is sooo funny. "Nong a si mu zi"
哦册那 笑色特了
我也想回家了… 🥲 上海~
我也以为他是香港过来的
I wish I knew what the name of the dish is. Love bamboo.
Is this intelligent, handsome, humorous guy single by any chance? Asking for a friend here. I might move to the US then. -- I mean her! She is moving of course.
HE LIKED IT! GIRL SHOOT YOUR SHOT!
@@darabrandao5762 But I'm shy! And he didn't say anything either. LOL :D
@@darabrandao5762 Thank you for making me laugh, though. I got so excited about the like. 🙈
Vorname Nachname WE’RE ROOTING FOR YOU
@@mayachaoui814 Aw ._.
I do, in fact, have a chinese aunt and uncle that live in Vancouver. Squad
me as well, lol
I wonder how close they are? My relatives are my dad cousins but we still call him uncle 😂
Yea, my dad's cousin and husband, their daughter and son, who I'm sure both have kids by now, also in Vancouver
More like squat lol
I do NOT have a Chinese aunt and uncle in Vancouver. A Taiwanese cousin, but that’s COMPLETELY different.
I love these quarantine videos! Honestly, I’d only ever seen you in small parts - now I’m trying to find as much of your stuff as I can. Thanks for giving me a reason to smile 🙂
lol yeah right jimmy is a great find in quarantine, bringing lots of joy to us :)
“Appreciate your uncles” Jimmy spitting out some wisdoms bombs here
If you are in East Vancouver I think you should definitely get Vietnamese food. Bahn mi Saigon has the best bahn mi, the special is my go to. They don't do delivery though and the line up is usually over 30 mins long but worth it (after quarantine or if someone could line up for you). Viet mama cafe has some different Vietnamese food, their fish and crab cake vermicelli and rice rolls are so bomb. When you do move to down town you need to try phnom phenh. Super good cambodian food, butter beef and the wings are to die for. I have so many more places to recommend. And we welcome you to the Vancouver food scene
the way you spelled banh mi killed me inside a lil bit as a Nammer
I agree I’m a white dude and I would go there for the sandwich at least twice a week. Can’t go wrong with a big sandwich for 5.50
@@linh.thanthien what's the proper way. I just spell it the way google spells it lol
@@dordorjuu its the way that I did, B-A-N-H, not the other way around ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Should also try bao chau one of the OG viet places with amazing spring rolls
I would literally watch a video of Jimmy taking a shit, this dude makes anything entertaining
Welcome to Vancouver, dude! That pork belly looks freaking unreal. I'm envious.
If you're ever in Richmond, please check these out. Not all of these will have amazing reviews on Google but don't let that sway you. These are some of my favourite eateries(cuisine/recommended dishes):
Sing Yee (打冷 / Clams stir fried in black bean sauce, deep-fried pork intestines)
Dragon View (Dim sum / 流沙包, but honestly, everything's pretty good and they have old school shit like 糯米卷)
Gyo-o (Kaisen don, udon / seafood yukke don)
Prataman (Hainanese chicken rice / Hainanese chicken rice (duh), beef brisket curry)
Double Double (Congee+noodles / 炸兩)
James Snacks (Claypot rice+other old school Chinese dishes / Chicken and octopus, or preserved sausage+meat)
Pho37 (Pho / Tuan's Special)
Rainbow Cafe (dessert / bubble waffle [this is Richmond's OG bubble waffle shop and still the best, imo])
Parker Place Meat and BBQ (HK bbq / crispy pork belly)
Icy bar (dessert / 八寶冰 [NOT the Korean-styled snowy shaved ice. You get a stupid amount of toppings so if you run out of ice, just ask for a refill. It's free])
[These 3 are in the same mall/food court. Everything there is pretty darn good and cheap, just be adventurous!]
Excellent Tofu and Snack Ltd (豆腐花 / 豆腐花 [of course], other snacks are good too)
Max Noodle House (Noodles / classic soup noodles with shrimp wontons [small portions. A quality over quantity kinda place])
Nanchuu Gmen Ramen (ramen+izakaya / shoyu ramen [they only serve tonkotsu broth during dinner time, lunch time is chicken-based broth])
[Grouped according to proximity]
Shout out to my fellow HK Shanghainese! Love that you are so proud of your Shanghai roots.
Watched my first mukbang video because of you! Your passion and enthusiasm for good food really shows.
I'm watching all of your food reviews from now on! Jimmy how can u be so amazing in everything you do???
The only food review where I laugh and learn something new about food!
Love the in-depth commentary! Would love to eat with you and analyse everything, would be so fun
I love how Jimmy breaks down stuff about cuisine in a way that you can easily understand, and he doesn't make you feel dumb or uncultured for not already knowing about it.
Also, he doesn't just *recommend* food, he raves about it while explaining how the dish is made in detail.
I've got to look for a local place with these kind of dishes, because I'm so curious now! I mean, dude, he enjoyed the SHIT out of this. xD it's got to be top notch nosh.
I like Jimmy. So, down to earth and remembers his roots. And, he is very good with his food channel. Authentic!
This is my kind of food review! He mentions all the key points! Good work jimmy! Keep it up!
This is awesome!! Love learning about the Shanghainese culture
Could watch you all day. Really effortlessly entertaining.
Totally underrated actor, comedian AND youtuber! Love all your videos! Can't wait for the rom-com to come out!!
Jimmy, I want you to know you and your cooking/food series live in my head rent free.
Wow Jimmy I didn’t know you could pull off Mandarin like that! Had expected it Cantonese accented hahaha
He speaks Shanghai dialect as well I believe, my hunch is that his family moved from Shanghai to Hong Kong before he was born
Exactly he did all three dialects perfectly.
I think he can speak proper Mandarin, because all Mandarin dishes he pronounced are authentic.
A lot of Cantonese can speak proper Mandarin, even in Hong Kong, it's not that hard.
I think he can speak 3 Chinese languages: Mandarin, Shanghainese (Wu), and Cantonese (Yue) of course
the only mukbang i will ever watch from our great lord jimmy
Thx for takeing time out of your day for us and the food looks so good i love your vids
thank you for all the detailed descriptions of the food, pf their history why they are supposed to be of this taste and texture. I'm drooling
Great video man! Informative, great descriptions, satisfying, AND you know exactly where the food originated from. So important to know the history of the food. Will have to visit Vancouver when we're allowed to cross the borders w/o quarantining.
Love your attitude to both the food and quarantine. Made me miss the Shanghainess food back home 😋 good luck with your shooting and stay safe
Teach us these dishes brother. You know our hearts are with you ❣️
I really enjoy these videos. You can tell this man loves food.
He explains food in great depth and detail. It’s a very beautiful thing.
Love your vids, love your personality!
The way Jimmy holds his noodle bowl - you know he is legit real Chinese hahahhaha
Dude, you just made a down-to-the-earth food review look like a luxury cuisine tour. Good job.
OMG one of my absolute all-time favorites
Awesome food! Very informative review! Nice job, Jimmy! 👍
love your channel content! Very much inspired by you :)
Wow it's amazing you speak Shanghainese! I love the "hu yo" 虾油 too xD
Drop the catering business name
flashbacks to the racism episode of review
That watsgood bro keep it up love ya movies funny asl ✊🏽💯
You're like the perfect blend of home and America. You talking about all this food that I grew up eating sums up my entire life. Damn bro, I'm seriously craving some red braised pork now
Jimmy, your channel is 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!
3:06 No MSG? I could already hear Uncle Roger yelling.
Shocked when he burst out Shanghai dialect. Feel so close to home:))))))))))
You're definitely giving Vancouver a lot more credit as we've unfortunately had a huge uptick in COVID cases as of late (plus the worst air quality). For banh mi, my favourite place is Ba Le (for the #5 special) in the Mount Pleasant area and if you're feeling soup Hoang Yen for their bun cha ca. And if you're feeling adventurous, perhaps venturing out to the neighbouring municipalities of Richmond or Burnaby to Aberdeen Mall and Crystal Mall respectively. But downtown also has its plethora of good breweries and eats. Welcome to Vancouver and stay safe!
MY MAN! Welcome to Canada. Enjoy the greenery :D
Welcome to the city bud! Doing your quarantine right and you'll be out in these streets with us all in no time !
Came to your channel because of the movie. First video I open and you happen to mention it during the first minute. You were great!
Thanks Jimmy for another great video
the BEST thing about your videos....besides the food....is i learn a little bit of Cantonese each time.
Living the best life Jimmy! Welcome to Canada!
I love yoooooou, you're sooooooo funny 😂 liked 👍 and subscribed ❤️

Dude love u and ur vids
Jimmy you made such one vivid review!I just finished supper now I am hungry again!
Appreciate your uncles Jimmy, those are a wonderful cooked, and red braised pork and egg are my favorites as well.
Amazing 😍! Very detailed introduction, wish I could enjoy the authentic Shanghainese food after pandemic 😄
I don't have a Chinese aunt and uncle that live in Vancouver, but I am Chinese and live in Vancouver so... First gen stereotype squad?
You are that chinese uncle!
@@dominictan800 soon brother. just need a sibling any day now
Naw, you just need to have a friend with a kid and you are automatically "Uncle"
You are going to be an uncle or aunt.
Than you are that relative
so lovely to see the chinese food in Vancouver were came in jumbo size, I can't definitely finish them by myself at all
Love your vids!
Awesome video keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see the new show.
OMG, that pork looked really tender! You're making me hungry.
So a little weed and excellent food being delivered to you, sounds like a happy place.
I always learn so much from your videos Jimmy.
Until next time. ;)
Congrats! Can’t wait for your new movie jimmy!!!
Love this!!!
I'm an old white woman. I like your cooking/tasting bc I get educated abt Asian food. Thank you
You know how good this is. Jimmy hasn't un-packed all his luggage items.
Daaamn, that food looks amazing! Shout out from Shanghai btw!
"giving the piggy lasix" LMAO
Yo Jimmy you are a blessing
Dude, this is an awesome video.
I just find it so funny how this guy, an established comedian was just like “Ey fuck it here’s my enchilada recipe” filmed on a shaky SINGLEHANDED handheld camera, and now look at him. He’s our new favourite CZcams foodie.
I'm so jealous! I know that egg/pork belly dish as a Vietnamese one my mom cooked as I was growing up. I see where it got it's roots!
Ayyyyy Welcome to Vancouver man!
Damn this looks so good Jimmy. Makin me hungry
WOW!!! Your Shanghai dialect is pretty awesome, welcome back to Shanghai as our city is utterly amazing now!
Welcome to Vancouver Jimmy!!!! Hope to see u soon!
My guy really knows his shit and you tell the passion oozing when he goes into details about the food.
Can't wait for your food show project to happen (oh you know you're going to do it haha)
Watched this on repeat while eating cup noodles 公仔面 for lunch.... thanks for the company Jimmy ;)
my guy ENJOY that Vancouver food!
All the dishes looks sooooo delicious
Welcome to East Vancouver! Great food around here and excellent Chinese food here always. I've noticed growing popularity for Korean fried chicken and ramen lately. If you have any more time left here give them a try. 👍
"The one thing that is keeping me sane and alive during this quarantine is this great asian food" lmaoo
Those braised pork looks AMAZING. Huge pieces means Huge love from the relatives, usually.
He did it again!! Just a man with his favorite food
Yooo welcome to Vancouver Jimmy
Enjoy your stay and awesome meals in Vancouver Jimmy ✌️
Yum...the food looks so good!
Man i love the idea of jimmy in iso with a camera! More raw content of him and his thoughts! Yew.
Yay just saw your channel for the first time. I loved your movie. Can I be in your next rom com?? Haha :)
"You're going to see your boy do a rom-com here."
Thank you, Jimmy for being "our boy." We love your acting and comedy acts .... and, _oh yeah, your cooking too._
interesting, i am very typical Shanghainese(born and grow up in Shanghai), and i moved to Vancouver when i was 18. never heard of the shrimp oil noodle but it sure looks delicious. HongShaoRou with the egg is a must for a proper Shanghainese meal !!!!
Can't wait for the romcom! 🥰🥰🥰
“ Every Chinese person has an uncle or aunt who lives in Vancouver” 😂 so true…
Canadian in the house...Vancouver is awesome! 👍🇨🇦😊 Nina is a Canadian too! Comfort food...😉
Do most HK youth Chinese speaks Mandarin as good as you do for now? I'm an overseas Chinese and i like how he is so proud for where he is from
Is that song Minguk?
P. F. Chang's more like Jimmy O Yang's😂
🤣
Jimmy pls open a chain restaurant called jimmy o yangs.
Well done video. I like how he flipped his chopsticks to get some of the sauce stuff, I do that too.
Jimmy's got me looking for Shanghainese food in Portland.
