I'm from Chicago and her place was okay but there are really NICE apartments in DOWNTOWN Chicago and the Northside for 1200 a month that have more than the girl from Miami has. Except for a pool, we've got the lake and no room for pools really. My son was just looking at GORGEOUS studio apartments on the North Side for under 800 bucks! They were HUGE!

So im gonna call a bit of BS. the miami girl lives in bayview palms in North Miami aka not the “real miami” that non natives imagine (ocean drive and the like) This is at least 30-45 min and sometimes almost an hour when traffic is bad from south miami, coral gables, doral and other areas locals frequent. Dont be fooled a real miami rent is at LEAST 1600-1700 For a 1-1 in the heart of miami. And if you want to live on the beach you better be making bank or dealing to afford that. The only good thing is that it is a bit closer to the beaches but that in my mind that doesnt make up for the commute for everything else :/
i mean technically north miami is still in dade county, but tbh it’s not a very good neighborhood. where she lives they have really big fences because everyone was getting broken into at one point. i think the miami everyone sees on tv is miami beach which is a complete and total lie because nobody can afford to live there 🙃 even north miami and north miami beach rent is expensive. all of dade county is expensive ☹️

Gigi Saturn North Miami is a suburb of Miami. North Miami is called a municipality. It has its own police department, water company, etc. Most cities don't call their suburbs after the city so maybe that's why you're confused.
Gigi Saturn Real Miami is within certain zip codes. If you go down I-95 South, on the right hand side there will be a green sign that says Incorporated Miami, or something like that. It starts at about 79th Street.

Depending on what kind of person you are, even with the lesser amenities in the Chicago apartment, being close to the city is way worth it. There's probably way more opportunities to get involved in business, economics,theater, food, etc. My personal favorite thing is the free mariachi festival at Millennium Park.

I live in a small town in Iowa. I pay $1,220 for a 3 bedroom townhome, 2 1/2 baths, 2 car attached garage, granite counter tops, dishwasher, decent walk in closet, and upstairs washer/ dryer. It would of been $1,190 but we pay extra for having a dog. Brand new but I m buying another home when lease expires. I want my own house.
As a Miamian. I'm trying to figure out where she lives because if it's not an hour outside of Miami. AIN'T NO WAY she's dropping 1250 for 1 BR. By the looks of it, she's down in Kendall (30-45 minutes outside of Miami proper) with the WORST traffic to get north to work in the morning.

Stephanie C I don’t have to believe the media to accumulate this information. I can simply look up the facts. Hurricane Irma cause 65 billion dollars in property damage alone. Just think of how much property damage was caused from storms in the past 10 years or so.

Some of us dont have that option. When I got sick I had to go on disability, and not by my choice. So before you tell someone what to do, get your facts. My comment was to Buzzfeed and if you did any research before commenting back you would know that the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a median personal income at $865 a week. And the US Bureau of the Census has median personal income at $31,099 a year and that breaks down to roughly $2,591 a month. So if your rent is $1,250 that would leave you only $1,341 dollars for food, gas, bills, insurance, health expenses. SO again do research before getting snobby about hustling.

In the end, it all depends on where exactly you live in the city. Prices can vary from street to street and block to block, depending on the luxurity of the appartment, the services near it, and the overal location.
And how much your paying for utilities and if your paying them or your landlord is
We pay $550 for a 3 bedroom 2 full bath house with a decent bath. Everything inside was brand new when we moved in
