The 70's has the best music of all time!!!
Absolutely! I'm imagining walking down the halls of my high school on my way to marching band or yearbook class. :) It was a happy time. We're so lucky to be able to play that music now.
The Babys - “Isn’t it Time” (1977) was their greatest hit.
I agree. Their best song!!
I love that song.
Yes please do Isn't it time💯💯💯💜
Change is also an awesome Babys song
Yes
So happy you’re going to react to this song. John Waite had one of the most distinctive voices on the radio. He eventually has a huge solo hit with “Missing You,” and then joins up with Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain (both of Journey) to form Bad English, a great band that is best known for the power ballad “When I See You Smile,” but which also had rockers like “ Rocking Horse.” Jonathan Cain was actually in the Babys too, but that was actually after “Every Time I Think of You.” Another John Waite/Journey connection is that they both had songs on the hit soundtrack to the movie Vision Quest. While Journey offered up the stirring “Only the Young,” Waite provided a mid-tempo gritty tube called “Change.” The soundtrack also featured two Madonna songs (Gambler and Crazy for You) as well as tracks from Foreigner and Dio.
I just noticed that Jonathan Cain is in the official video, but according to Wikipedia (if we can trust it) he wasn’t actually on the studio recording.
Wow that soundtrack sounds amazing! I definitely need to check it out. Thanks👍😁
That is such a fun movie. And I LOVE "Only the Young". Typical Steve Perry knock out. I actually keep that on my workout playlist.
"Change" is, actually, a cover of the N.Y.C. band: Spider.
...Waite's version is, definitely, the better of the two, however.
-If you know '80s songwriters, you MAY recognize the name: Holly Knight.
She was a founding member of Spider (which, also, included: drummer. Anton Fig - who, later, became the drummer in The Most Dangerous Band In The World/CBS Orchestra [Paul Schaeffer's band on Letterman's shows], after Steve Jordan left.) and wrote "Change" and "Better Be Good To Me" (Both, originally recorded by: Spider), which became a huge hit for Tina Turner.
Holly also founded an electronic band called Device, after Spider.
They got some notice with a song called: "Hanging On A Heart Attack" (if you were a "club kid" in those days, you might remember it.)
...Holly, also, wrote (or co-wrote) "Love Is A Battlefield" which became a hit for Pat Benatar.
...she has a bunch of '80s hits.
Spider has some worthwhile tracks, besides Holly Knight's tracks.
"New Romance" is a cool one.
"Burning Love"
(later, also, covered by: Kix
and Lee Aaron - in case you know who those are (you, really, should!)-)
... 🤷
@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra Cool info. I definitely remember the Device song, I had it on a Living in Oblivion CD, and I had the Tina Turner song on a Miami Vice TV show soundtrack. I don’t remember if it was season one or two.
"BACK ON MY FEET AGAIN" is a very catchy Baby's hit
Absolutely! And "Gonna Be Somebody."
And "Midnight Rendezvous"!
It's actually better than Every Time I Think of You.
❤
The Baby's fucking rocked!! They have a ton of jams awesome band!
I love the Babys and this song is one of my favorites, John Waite is the lead singer and 2 female backup singers. You should do "Isn't It Time" next! You guys should also react to some Bob Seger; "Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser."
Yes Bob Seger👍🏻👍🏻
I always loved this song! 😁💖
If you every wamt to see them do this song live? You will see that Jon Waite and one of the female background singers sing the chorus together.
"Midnight Rendezvous" is a rocker!
Love the Baby's! I saw them in concert, they were great!❤❤❤❤ Every time I think of you, it always turns out good.😊
John Waite and Jonathan Cain were amazing together. Cain left for Journey to replace Gregg Rolle and actually wrote a bunch of Journey hits including Faithfully.
Good Call Kevin! Many Great Artists Started with Earlier groups. Neil Schon in Santana at 15 yo!
Journey combined with the Babys to form Bad English !!
Incorrect. This is Michael Corby, he and Waite were fabulous together. Jonathan Cain would replace him on Union Jacks and ruin the Keyboard sound..
Saw the Baby's open for Journey at Freedom Hall in 1980! Great show! One of the last Derby Eve Jam's!
"Back on My Feet Again" is my favorite song from them. This band brings back memories for me. I was only 8 when this song was released.
Finally, you are getting to a fantastic group that is very underrated. I sent the over under at 10 at the number of times you guys say this is fire.
🔥×10 😂😂😂
that comment didn't age well. I guess when we were exposed to it all over the radio multiple times we form a different opinion. but in reality, what percentage of songs did I like after hearing them one time? for me, it usually took at least a few listens to a song before I decided whether I liked it or not.
Male lead , 3 women background singers with one trading vocals with the lead
Have been mesmerized byJohn Waite since the late 70s throughout his bands and solo career! Another awesome song by the Baby’s.. “Isn’t It Time.” But of course, there is also John with Bad English, “When I See You Smile,” and solo, “Missing You” among others..! Thanks for the reaction! 💕
jonathan cain who is the keyboardist in journey was in the baby's, also the lead singer john waite had a solo career after the baby's and was famous for "missing you", im sure youve heard it. oh they were both in bad english too.
I can't help it. I just love how your heads start bopping in unison. Adorable.
Back on my Feet Again is a power hit!
Funny story, I saw The Babys and they got booed off stage. This happened at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, 1980. They were the "middle" act, sandwiched between 38 Special and the headliners, Molly Hatchet, two southern rock bands. The crowd was not pleased with their style of rock and jeered heavily from the first note. After about 2 and a half songs, the band suddenly stopped and the singer proclaimed, "We'll come back when you all grow the f*ck up." They then walk off stage to the delight of the crowd. Never saw anything else like it!
My favorite Babys song.
The female voice is one of The Babettes, their female backup singers.
You guys should watch the live performance or video so you can see the members
You guys gotta hit the live version, KILLER
The transitions are what makes this song fire. Very unusual at the time
They came up with the name Baby’s when the band was having a big argument with their manager when he finally had enough. He stormed out of the room saying “You guys are bunch of F---babies”! He immediately re-entered the room and shouted, “That’s it……..The Baby’s!!!!!!!!
Lou Gramm solo “Just Between You and Me” is killer
👍🏻
You guys are so much fun. Keep being you!❤️
It’s one of those you had to be there songs. It was one of the first power ballads so that style wasn’t overplayed when it was released
Thank you. Armchair quarterbacks. But still not all songs have staying power for fresh ears. .
Anyone who criticizes any occupation that isn't theirs can be a called an "armchair quarterback". People are allowed to have their opinions- especially with something as subjective as music.
@@ViewsFromThe502 hey, everyone is an armchair quarterback, everyday! No shame in that game. no intention to offend. Keep on with your bad selves
.
'Baby, It's You' by Promises is worth a listen, too.
One of my favorites ! The Baby's are awesome! Isn't it Time such a classic!
I loved The Babys! The aren't on any of my playlists now, but I enjoy hearing them. Loverboy was good, too. Same.
😂 They had female backup singers! Which is the other lead vocal on this.
John Waite (pronounced “wait”) is one of the best rock vocalists ever imo. Check out “Change” and “Missing You” from his very successful solo career, as well as “Isn’t It Time” which is the other Baby’s hit everyone is suggesting.
Funny you me think that keyboard. Jonathan Cain was the keyboardist for the Baby's prior to replacing Gregg Rolie in 1980 as Journey's new keyboardist and fellow song writer.
I think the part of the song where you hear two voices is a woman (I don't know who), followed by John Waite. He had a very successful solo career after The Babys.
Blast from the past!! This one had been buried deep in the cobwebs!!
It does go together.
Love this song and much that they did.
John Waite provided lead vocals, featuring female vocals by Myrna Matthews.
I heard this song on the radio all the time....I didn't know this group was called "The Babys" Wow!!! Thanks guys! Good reactions!!!
In the year when that song was released, Rocky Phillips on bass guitar 🎸 and Jonathan Cain on guitar 🎸 and keyboards 🎹 joined The Babys 👶.
This title appeared in the song Missing You in 1984, 40 years ago 🎂 Written by John Waite, Chas Sanford and Mark Leonard.
The Babys 👶 broke up in 1981. Brock joined Sir Rod Stewart. Cain joined Journey. In 1987, Waite, Cain, Phillips, Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo formed Bad English. Greg Rolie and Ross Valory formed The Storm.
The Storm opened for Bryan Adams in 1991 to 1992. I saw 👀 one of the concerts.
Both bands broke up 💔 in 1996. Journey reunited. Steve Perry quit again. Arnel Pineda is the current lead singer.
Right ✅ 2 women were backing singers.
Suggested videos 📹: 1 Bad English performs Straight to Your Heart 2 The Storm performs I've Got a Lot to Learn about Love 3 Steve Perry and David Foster perform I Stand Alone. 4 Arnel Pineda and Morissette Amon sing I Finally Found Someone. 5 Bryan Adams sings Can't Stop This Thing We Started
I'm sorry you don't have very positive feelings about this song. Everyone is entitled to their opinions as flawed as they may be. This song is incredible. The different styles blend perfectly together. The minor key was a perfect choice. The background singers are perfection. Watch the video and I guarantee you will change your mind.
They do have a point about it being a sappy love-ballad. Still, John Waite could frickin' sing.
Agreed. They’re stuck on the name and whether the backing vocals are female or no. A simple google would’ve cleared that up. I’m glad there’s a reaction but they could’ve been a little more respectful.
@@yourebusted5786 Yeah but, this is sappy love-ballad done well, or power-ballad is better. This song 'cranks'. Remember that term?
John Waite is lead vocalist ,with Myrna Matthews featured as the female vocalist...
Great song.
Nineteen seventNine was a great time to be alive!, great music, out the ARS 😊EEHA HA!
E
So many great Babys songs and John Waite solo stuff. Have tix to see him play in a couple of weeks.
The album’s title song Head First is FIRE!!!!
They were great in concert. I got a guitar pick and gavebit to a guy in HS who was in a band...lol
Damn Yankees- High Enough ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I saw. Journey in 79 and the Babys opened for them. I saw them in 1980 and Bryan Adams opened for them....its connected....Jonathan Cain left the Babys and joined Journey
Anne Bertucci is the women's voice you hear in the backup vocals
Lead singer John Waite has a voice that can be heard out of thousands. He also had a lot of hits as a solo artist, for example Missing you and an absolute rock club classic: Mr. Wonderful
Every time I think of your reactions "I go Crazy". Another great song by Paul Davis I would like you to react to. Love you guys!
John Waite is the lead singer. Back on my Feet Again is a great upbeat song by them. John Waite had a ding called Change. Also, Missing You a number one song.
Lead singer, John Waite, in my opinion, one of the best voices in rock. Has many hits from his solo career also. And from another band he was lead singer of called Bad English. Check out "When I See You Smile", "Price Of Love" and "Rockin' Horse" by them.
Yes, it's one woman in this song. She is not a regular band member.
✌ (Jodi/Child of the 60s)
Vocals were John Waite and they had 2 women back up singers on this track if you look at the video it will answer your questions lol
Keyboardist from the Baby’s played with Journey.
OMG! The Baby’s were great! Give them some more listens. Different songs.
The Baby's title track, Head First, gives serious Foreigner vibes, omg... U gotta check it out!
i flipping love this song. it wasnt super popular but it was with me. LOVE IT!!!!!
OMG I haven’t heard this in sooo long and forgot all about it. ❤❤ Thx guys 😊
6:20 😂
My fav song from John Waite..."Missing You"...That imo was the biggest hit.
This song has such great background vocals (they are women lol), and the dynamics and tempo changes are something you don't see anymore at all. I would like to see you react to Nick Gilder - Hot Child in the City.
I saw them on this tour. Agora Theater, Columbus Ohio ( was on High Street ...across from campus). excellent show. John Waite is the lead vocalist who had a solo career years later.
Freaking LOVE you Guysxx Sooò funny love n peace xx
You must do '' Isn't it time '' its a banger groove and you will love it ❤❤❤
The song comes to life when the back-up singer joins in.
Yay y'all! Hardly anyone reacts to The Babys. You will like them. Then you'll want to hear "Isn't It Time" and "Back On My Feet Again" I'm excited for this one!
Midnight Rendezvous, Head First and Isn’t it Time are great tracks
Midnight Rendezvous is an early Foriegner like rocker.
John Waite is the lead singer. I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago. He was playing at a club in Fresno. While his opening act was playing he and I were the only two at the bar. Very nice guy. Listen to more of his music I’m sure your opinion will change.
There are 3 Female Background singers on this track Myrna Matthews as the lead.
Great choice!
A very underrated band! Love John Waite’s voice. Isn’t It Time is a terrific song. ( This song includes female backup singers and one girl trading lines with Waite.)
Thanks for the great reaction! Recommendations April Wine "I like to rock" Candy Dulfer "Sax a gogo" Fourplay "Eastbound & Between the sheets," Steely Dan "Peg, Hey 19, FM, Gaucho, Babylon Sisters, Deacon Blues, Home at Last, and Bad sneakers," Pure Prairie League "Amy," Kenny Loggins and Messina "Angry eyes," Journey "Stone in Love"❤️
They used two female backup singers for this song. There is a video showing the band playing this and shows them.
One if not the loudest concert I’ve attended, was The Babys. And those were definitely girls singing along with John Waite
Isn’t time and a piece of the action, 2 stand alone classics
"Every Time I Think of You" augmented the vocal of Babys' frontman John Waite with prominent female vocals, with "Every Time I Think of You" featuring Myrna Matthews, Pat Henderson and Marti McCall, Their two other heavy radio play hits also had the female backing vocalists, "Back On My Feet Again" and "Isn't It Time." I'm shocked it didn't make your playlist. Based on your comments it seems you don't care for songs with different parts. This song didn't even have a key change. You're going to have trouble with Meat Loaf songs and even some Rush songs where the music isn't straight forward. Great video as always guys!
John Waite on lead vocals, female vocals by Myrna Matthews & Anne Bertucci. Not one of my favorite Babys tracks, but it has its moments.
Nice, definitely looking forward to this reaction!
This song is likely on one of those 4 am " hits of the 70s" infomercials lol
Boys you guys look like you’re in your 20s? I am 62 and I know when I was 20 I thought people that were 40 were old but I’m just beginning to enjoy my life fully. I will tell you that the music from the 70s is the very very best that you will ever hear. Listen to Gordon Lightfoot, Boz Scaggs, Al Stewart, Beegees, and you will be in music heaven❤
That is a woman singing that part...she is their backup singer
They were great pop songs! When you weren't of the age at the time its hard to appreciate
Had to have these guys and "Jurney"in the ride for date nights. Back to Black Sabbath ,Deep Purple for the regular run around.
This was Myrna Mathews on the female vocal. Yes she's "soulfull"😉
This version of the baby's has different members than what you mentioned.
The great Job Waite on lead vocals, and on keyboards is Jonathan Cain, later of Journey.
...And, also: Here's your Babys [sic] "must listen" list!💥💥💥💥:
"Midnight Rendezvous";
"I Was One";
"Give Me Your Love";
"...And If You Could See Me Fly";
"Wrong Or Right";
"Sweet 17";
[their cover of: Barrett Strong's:]
"Money (That's What I Want)"
(Which was MOTOWN Records' first, ever, hit single (in 1959), but effectively: made famous by: The Beatles covering it-but, I would argue that: the DEFINITIVE, Rock version is THIS one, by: The Babys [sic])
(Barrett, just, passed away at the end of January [2023], so: 😭😭 A sad farewell to, yet, another legend!)
"Isn't It Time" (which every will recommend, because it was their other major hit -besides: "Every Time I Think Of You"- but the other songs on this list are more interesting! -As GOOD as this is! (and it IS very good!));
"Darker Side Of Town"
[really: a song-fragment/½ song, but SO, DAMNED, GOOD! 🤘🤘];
"Love Don't Prove I'm Right";
"Head First";
"Love Won't Wait";
"Postcard" (another, seeming, song-fragment/unfinished song.
...But SO cool!);
"Too Far Gone " (Yet another song-fragment/incomplete song (maybe left over from development sessions🤷🤷). Super-rocking!);
(🤷🤷) "The Golden Mile";
"If You've Got The Time"; ...
"I Believe In Love";
"Love Is Just A Mystery";
"True Love, True Confession"
(🤷);
"Turn And Walk Away"
John Waite is the lead singer
This hit the charts in a big way when it was released! And Isn't it Time. A band i was in in the 80's covered a song of their's called 15, 16,17. A great song, even if a bit naughty! I hope this made your play lists!
They had guest vocals for this song (women), but the members of the band were men. This group had a few hits.... very teenage angst ridden love ballads but they were pretty good.
Soft Rock, I love this band.
John Waite solo Missing You. John also with Bad English When I see You Smile. Great songs both. John’s vocals are tops
The Babys had a similar hit song to this called "Isn't It Time" with the female singers added in. Most of their songs that I've heard are rock bangers, though. One of my favorite Babys songs is called "Back On My Feet Again."
"HEY YOLANDA!" I'm dying! LOL
I love John Waite. He’s still touring. Usually with Rick Springfield.
Here you go - "Every Time I Think of You" is a song written by Jack Conrad and Ray Kennedy and released in December 1978 as the lead single from The Babys' third studio album Head First; John Waite provided lead vocals, featuring female vocals by Myrna Matthews.
Speaking of Firehouse band.....There is an 80's Band called Firehouse with a song called "Dont Treat Me Bad" you should react to it.
