    Mid-June 2016 the wonderful Lausie D a.k.a. Biker808 / @laura_d234 found her way into Austria. After spending a sightseeing day in my hometown Vienna the next day two friends and I decided to join Lausie for one day of touring. After a couple of hours it was bike-swap time!! Naturally I got all excited. Finally I myself got to try that MT-07 which received so much praise from the moto press last year for being one of the most fun low-budget bikes out there. So - how much fun was it?
    Loads of it. The sound was magnificent. Its power certainly surprised me. It's rather simple to ride and definitely a forgiving bike. The suspension is a bit on the soft side but this only comes into play when riding hard. And its front brake was slightly too weak for my taste. But since I'm not into braking too much anyway I really didn't care. The brakes might could need a little bit of an extra for racetrack usage. But only there if you ask me.
    You can definitely go and buy this bike if you're looking for a non-expensive and still very fun option. So to answer the question raised within the thumbnail: Watch the video and decide for yourselves. I had ZERO experience on this bike and tires before recording the video.

    Great stuff!! I did my A2 training on an MT07 and loved it. Just so forgiving, responsive, with loads of feedback. I liked it so much that I bought the Tracer 700 as my first bike. One of the first mods I did was to replace the front springs with an adjustable set. What a difference. So much more poise and stability. Schaaf, when you get the opportunity, come to France and try the Route de Napoleon through the Alpes! You won't be disappointed.

    How does this compare for fun to your cb500? also, have you ridden the new CB 500?

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  Před 6 lety

      not the newest CB500 model. The MT-07 is ~25 years younger than my CB. That's the difference you can feel. But my CB is still more fun to me because it's more agile.

    • @dry509
      @dry509 Před 6 lety +1

      Schaaf Thanks for your response. Yes, I understand, I really like nimble bikes also. Yours weighs in at 374 lbs I think. After test riding a few 600 cc and 1000 cc bikes I rode a used Honda CBR300R and it was a lot of fun because it was so nimble. The Honda dealer here does not allow test rides so I can't try out a new cb500f to see how nimble it is and how it compares nimble wise to an fz07. Considering getting a CBR300R because it is so nimble. Any experience with the CBR or a Ninja 300 as far as nimbleness goes? Or look for a CB500 like you have. Bottom line, I want a nimble fun bike.

      @Schaaf  Před 8 lety

      die MT könnte als Ersatz durchgehen. Das Mehr an Leistung macht schon sehr viel Spaß. Aber die alte CB mit getauschtem Fahrwerk lässt sich präziser bewegen. Ist mir im Endeffekt doch wichtiger, als die Leistung!

    I really enjoy your videos! I firmly believe that if you road a bunch during good weather and then uploaded 2-3 times per week year round your channel would explode. You could be like RJ, just ride and offer a little subtext.
    I'm so jealous of the roads you have available to you! There never seems to be much traffic and so many great curves!!!!
    Next year my little R3 is going to become a full time track back and I'm going to get a second bike for everyday. I'm really leaning towards a naked bike. I've considered the FZ07, FZ09, FZ10 because they are all such great values, but I'm also wondering about getting a premium European bike like the S1000R, Tuono or Speed Triple.
    Decisions. Decisions.

    • @Schaaf
      @Schaaf  Před 8 lety +1

      You'll have to try them all I'm afraid :) I'd love to record and upload videos 2-3 times per week but the reality is that I can't afford to ride bikes more often than 10-15 times per year.

    Killer skill, killer videos. Like your stuff so much! I'm an American rider that spent my 20's on big Harley Davidson's. I've been looking at sportier bikes but I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on something like the XSR900. Sure, my Road King "technically" had a TON more displacement but its just different kind of power, you know? Your videos on the MT-07 and XSR700 are making me lean more towards them. IDK- I'm not a beginner rider but I'm a beginner non-cruiser rider.

    Ooooh i loved that!! Shcaaf on a bike that's new to him is "very good viewing". At 5:51 my dad (RIP) called it "scrabbling" when a tyre was almost letting go of it's grip, it did little skips to let you know it was on the edge. He used to say it was a good thing if a tyre warns you when it's on the edge so you are aware of the danger. If the exhaust on that bike is stock? then i love the sound of it. Another great bookmark video, thank you.Ride Safe.

    • @laura_d234
      @laura_d234 Před 8 lety

      The SC Project exhaust was aftermarket. The stock exhaust is painfully quiet and the recommended Akra is expensive and doesn't sound quite as good in my opinion.
