G'day Mike,,
Great video, was waiting to see the difference when good injectors were fitted ,,
I'm sure it sounds like it runs more evenly ,,time will tell. I did wonder about the output of the injection pump ,,if it's a bit worn ,you could set the injection pressure slightly lower than spec.
However ,,now you have the injection test bench ,you will soon have it at peak tune .
Most injectors can be made to atomized fuel when cleaned and reset .you may need to resurface some pieces using a set of jet files or even fine sandpaper to get best results .
Again ,,great video ,thanks for sharing Mike .
Respect

thats a good tip.
Bit late to the fight, but all these backhoe vids are excellent. Currently resurrecting a 580E and have most the same to do. Great to see it first. Thanks.
I currently have my 207d pulled out of my hoe. Long story short one little thing caused a whole lot of damage. I bought one of the pop off testers like you have but I cannot seem to find the right tester stem that the injector screws into. I've been trying for weeks now to figure out a way to make it work. I saw your comment on cutting down the threads to make it work. I will recheck mine in the a.m. to see if that could be the issue.
Thank you for posting all of the info that you do. It has really helped me to be able to reference your info along the way. I am going completely through mine, new EVERYTHING INTERNAL!!!!
Already repacked all the hydrolics with new seals and wipers!!!! This is an adventure for sure!!!!
Great video Mike, I have a 1967 580CK with an injector that doesn't work well until it warms up. My engine runs and sounds good once it warms up. Maybe I need to get a tester and It looks like the same injectors fit my 188 engine. I do have a complete spare parts kit with a very well used 1966 hoe with over 35,000 hours for parts. Thanks!
could be the injector is not atomizing the fuel it might be the same injector i have a 207 engine wow 35000 hours
Cool video Mike i never knew those testers existed or there were adjustable injectors, you'll have the ole girl good as new soon.
As a buddy said, 'It's good enough for who it's for'. I thought the last was a little better but then the lope started back. Nice you could get a test pump. That took a load off right there. I went ahead and subscribed. I watch all yours anyway and I dropped four in one day for cussing. Ain't having that. So keep on digging. The old Case rigs are tough! From a hillbilly Tarheel operator.
I am glad to hear from you.
@@mikekisch5563 Glad to have something decent to watch!
runnin better than mine lmao good job regardless of outcome you tried doing it yourself sir that makes this exercise a win!
very good master
Mike,
Where did you get the injector pressure tester or did you build it?
More info on the pump would be appreciated.
Thanx
I bought it off ebay. the test pipes it came with fit several different types of injectors i have tested, yanmar (john deere) but I had to cut off some threads on the tester pipes to fit these injectors. here is the link to the one I bought. www.ebay.com/itm/Diesel-Injector-Nozzle-Tester-Pop-Pressure-Tester-Dual-Scale-600-8000-PSI-BAR/162759305518?hash=item25e535e92e:g:k-YAAOSwd8Fal6XM (im not a sponser)
@@mikekisch5563 Thanx for the info.
@@mikekisch5563 I have this exact same tester and the same injectors. How did you cut the threads to make it fit the injectors?
I would order four more and pray for one good one so's it don't wash that cylinder out!! We both know what unburnt fuel does.... a trick I pulled when hurting was to mix some diesel and ajax or comet or both and wash the cylinders out with injectors out just kept dumping and cranking and dumping and cranking for some time then wash with clean diesel and change oil plus put my best injectors in. I put the hottest thermostat in it I could and always ran the engine hard enough to heat it up a little and back off if it got hot... fine line there but closed it up and ran it that way for a couple years till I found another old tractor parked for other reasons, I got by without tossing a rod and not much power but flywheeling it till I put that other motor in without checking it. It was stuck but pipe on the flywheel teeth back and forth till I got a couple rolls out of it the towed it and jerking clutch in an out till she wherrold over. I put the injectorts back it and it wouldn't turn so took out on then finally another and it not only turned but fired on one cylinder! I put all the injectors back in and towed it and it fired on all four and I swear I almost cried I was so happy. It ran for a couple hours then I changed fluids again and it started better and better and after a while got another rig but it was junk begging to die. I made money of it seling parts and the whole thing, frame and all went away! I guess the moral of it all if there is one, is to save and get a better one when you can
Driving around with bad injectors Can ruined the motor If it's not spraying down in a normal spray mist it's going to wash down the oil film on the cilinder walls.
Have you taken the fuel tank off & cleaned it? If you do, please make a video of it!
The engine should run smoother, I have same 580c and started running rough in low RPMs & at idle speed. My fuel tank is rusty dropping rust dust, sediment, flakes & chunks into fuel. Cleaning sediment bowl with wire get chunks & silt out. All My Fuel lines were full of rust. Need to clean Two fuel connection ports on injection pump from filters. One has a screen basket w/check valve could be dismantled & cleaned. Other one has a check ball to be checked out & cleaned. The engine will run very smooth.😉Good luck 🍀👍🏻
i think there is low compression or a valve issue. it doesnt run perfect, but i dont want to spend any time on a rebuild or valve job yet.
What you tell a guy looking at one of these, It's a 580c 70 to 80s model sitting not running?
I thought it sounded better, running it should give you a better feel of how much better it runs. Not sure if you have messed with valve lashes yet, that will help with the noises a bunch too when they are set correctly. I would have had to steam clean the engine when i had that hood off too, i know it just gets dirty again but if youre anything like most of us, it sounds and feels like it runs better when shes all clean !! LOL
If it was me I think I would check the valve timing it would just cost you a valve cover gasket and it might help some

Mike you could check flow limiters and seals in the fuel pump. Are you blowing fuel out of the oil dipstick/pan or exhaust? Just a couple guesses and I know you want to keep this tractor up and running but I would hate to see you have to pull the engine because of hydro locking a cylinder☹️
i am getting fuel in the oil pan. i am going to change the oil and see if i have the problem corrected with proper fuel injection timing/ pressure. i would hate to see me pull the engine too. for any reason really.
looking back i should have hooked all the injectors up outside the engine and turned it over to see them with the fuel pump timing them. i have done that with yanmar. maybe just spin the injectors upside down where they are pointing straight up.
@@mikekisch5563 Wondering if you had the lope under load still? Idle is still a bit rough but much better! You are heading in the right direction for certain and you may want to see if you have a cracked piston in the near future... oh no not a compression check... lol ! Thanks for such interesting videos and I wish I had a tractor that could dig holes and than refill them : ( !! LOL
@@gregbutler9873 if one cylinder is the problem i would be very happy. i just dont want to find out all the cylinders arelow on compression. i probably will check at some point in the future.
Hello Mike are you still getting fuel in your engine oil ?. If so check the fuel lift pump and the injector pump. Thank you for the Ebay link sir. Liked,Shared. All my best Ps Get a cleaner and clean the old injector you may be able to get a repair kit for them New springs,Etc.
I think i will change the oil and run it for a while to see if maybe one of the old injectors was the problem with fuel in the oil. if i am still getting fuel in the oil I will check the injection pump.
Can these injectors/lines be bled as well ?
I would have sent that bad one back for a replacement
i may have tightened it too tight which can damage the injector.
@@mikekisch5563 I didn't know you could do that
