- A Florida woman is accused of leaving her 7-year-old daughter in her car while she went drinking. Police say the little girl was left in the parking lot around midnight. Three hours later, the child got out of the car and went looking for her mom in the bar. The staff called the cops. Her mom, Veronica Elliot, appeared out of nowhere in the parking lot at 6:30 a.m. Cops say she was under the influence. Elliot was charged with child neglect.
The fact that the little girl isn’t crying or coming off as scared at all is a huge red flag that she is often left alone.

Yes when you have addicted parents you have to grow up way faster than your peers I had to be the one to clean my whole house do laundry cook etc and when I was in 8th grade I took care of my baby cousin while my aunt uncle and mom partied and the baby's mom only had her while I was in school so yeah you grow up real fast

I have to imagine any time a child comes wandering into a bar in the middle of the night, one starts to assume something terrible has happened to the child or their guardian. They were probably thinking something tragic and terrible had happened at first.

Respect to the bar staff for taking care of that baby. The owner and the woman seemed so tender with her. It broke my heart to see the little girl so calm, you just know this has happened before based off how she acted.
I’m so glad she found some decent people. This could have ended really badly, having such a young girl wandering around asking strangers for help at such early hours.

I dnt see what the big deal besides she should of checked on her once an hour locked the doors provided food a blanket and something to do.
That little girl was so intelligent and brave telling the police what happened. She should be given a reward while in custody and the mother should be given time to think while behind bars.
What an innocent response. “Time to think while in jail”? Giving her such a short and lenient punishment won’t convince the mom to change her attitude and behavior. Such is the case with human nature. And being charged with child neglect won’t give you jail time-it punishes you with time in *prison*.
If you’re still young and can’t tell the difference between jail and prison, then let me enlighten you simply: jail is the place where criminals stay and await trial for a serious crime or stay to be punished for a minor crime (that can not be fined). Prison is the place where these criminals go *after* being convicted of their crime in trial.
The mother isn’t going to stay in jail for a short while and ponder over her actions then get released. She will be sent to jail, tried for child neglect and other crimes, then sent to prison for whatever sentencing the judge grants her. She may even lose custody, but since the father’s dead, the child goes to her relatives.
I’m surprised the cops didn’t give that mom a piece of their mind for leaving her daughter alone while she went to get drunk. They’d be speaking as dads more than cops

I felt every word coming from the officer scolding the horrible mother. Some parents won’t even allow their kids to cross the street by themselves without holding the hands of trusted adults, yet this piece of work leaves her daughter in the car by herself to go drinking at midnight. Unreal. The little girl is very brave and smart for her age. I’m glad she was ok and she had some kind strangers to help her.
You can tell this isn't the first time this poor girl has gone through this before. Despicable.
Respect to that cop explaining common sense and decency to this woman in a simple and slow manner so even intoxicated she can appreciate what she's done!

My mother did this to my older siblings in the 90s & TRUST ME, they won’t forget this situation for the rest of their lives. They become wiser than their care taker ever was.
My parents did too late 80s and Early 90s and oddly it felt normal then but I'll never forget it and I'm reminded every time I pass some of these old bars still open.

Reminded me of my mom. She was a serious Crack addict and would leave me in the car in the projects while she tried to find dope. I hope this child never has to deal with this again and the woman gets the help she so desperately needs.

My mom used to do this all the time. She would leave me and my brother at 4 and 6 at random people’s house and return hours later. She would leave us at the mall and leave for hours. She left us at a nail salon a couple of times when they opened and didn’t return until they closed. After school, she would wait hours to pick us up, if she would come at all. There has been plenty of times, everyone was gone and the school closed and it was getting dark and we would have no clue where she was so we would start walking. We didn’t want her to get in trouble so we hid from people or said that she’s on her way. When she did show up, never once did she ever give an apology or concern for us, and this happened all the time.
Stuff like this happens more than you think.
We had angels watching us though so we weren’t harmed.

I have had girlfriends who say this was very common for them to be left by themselves in a public place. I couldn't believe it at first, especially from having a mom and dad who had me on lockdown and isolation, lol. I didn't start talking to people who were not in my family until my teen years. Coke to think of it, I was verbally stunted until my teens. Either way, I'm sorry you had to go through that and yes- you definitely had Angels all around you, protecting you, and still do!

I saw the entire video cam, kudos to the waitress who was very kind, attentive, and gentle to the little girl. all the bar staff showed so much care, unlike her mother.

My poor mother had to go through this all the time when she was a little girl. Her and her little brother would be left in the car while their parents went to the bar for hours. They were about 6 and 3 when it first started. It was a regular occurrence for them. My grandparents would give them comics and candies and soda to keep them 'entertained', while they got hammered. My mom thought it was great because she loved the candies and comics. It wasn't until she was much older she realized how wrong it was. A lot of bad things happened to my mother growing up, but she built a good life for herself and became the most loving and responsible mother. I hope this sweet little girl can build a good future for herself.

My Bio mom did this to my sister and me when we were infant/toddler age. I was the infant and my sister was about 4, she got out and was found walking around in a parking lot. Someone found her, and called the police. She led them to me in the car. We were both taken from her. My sister was returned and i was removed and adopted out. Its crazy to see kinda how that night went in real life.

I feel so bad for that young child. It's a good thing the other adults were around to help her, and even give her ice cream. I don't recommend anyone whether single, dating or married go out to bars late at night to get drunk, but if she chose to continue that lifestyle, she shouldn't have become a mom in the 1st place. . My mother told me that back in the late 40s early 50s my grandma and grandpa would go out to the bars to dance and drink they would take my mamma and uncle with them and leave them in the car. She said nobody thought a thing about it because all the other people brought their kids to, and they would all get out play in the parking lot while their parents were inside. She said even the police would drive by to check, and nobody ever said a word about it or gave it a second thought. it's just the way it was.
