    Finally! I asked HJC years ago when they'd be releasing the helmet FIM riders are using with the statement that clearly the RPHA11 (which I owned and liked) did not meet FIM standards given that their riders were not using it. Back then I was told there was no plans, but this seemed silly. And here we go! Happy to see this since HJCs tend to fit me reasonably well.

    I currently use the RPHA11 Pro. I absolutely love HJC. I still have about 2-3 years on my current helmet before the 5 year expiration. Hopefully this will go down in price by then. Thank you for the awesome review. Keep up the great work with Max. And keep kicking ass!!!

  • @ticosandoval

    For racing, I really like my RPHA 11 Pro... it's got the best line of sight in a tucked position I've ever used/seen. It's super light and really good price...no complaints for my racing needs. Although I may have to consider the RPHA 1N when my current lid expires at the end of this year. Thanks for the review.

    Having had a Moto 3 back in the early 1980's like '81/82, I have been prone to Bell Helmets ever since. That was a nice helmet, also had a Simpson, but nothing came close to the Moto3. The brand HJC looks like it improves before our very eyes.

    I really never liked my RPHA 11. Especially after I bought my scorpion EXOR1 for half the price and it felt like a much better helmet. Is this new HJC a better helmet than the RPHA11?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This helmet is for sure better than the RPHA 11 Pro. I have ridden in both (did not hate the 11 and loved the graphics) and find the performance and fit of the 1N to be a big step up. - Van

  • @iceman_fox1
    @iceman_fox1 Před rokem +1

    I ran the RPHA 11 Carbon and never felt like it was that comfortable, then my next helmet was a much cheaper Scorpion Exo R1 Fabio and thought it was a much better helmet than the HJC. The scorpion had better padding and fit my head so much better for half the price. Now I am wondering if the RPHA 1 is a significant upgrade over the RPHA 11, as I really like the Ben Spies edition RPHA 1 but not sure if I want to trust HJC again

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před rokem +1

      I did a fair amount of riding in the RPHA 11 and liked that helmet. IMO the Scorpion R1 Air and the RPHA 1N are both better than the 11. If you are happy with the Scorpion (for sure one of my favorites) I would stick with what you know. - Van

    I had the RPHA 11 Carbon and then bought a Scorpion EXO R1 which was half the price of the HJC and now I wear the Scorpion 95% of the time. Such a nicer, higher quality helmet than the RPHA 11 and it was much cheaper. Does this new HJC have a better fit and finish than the RPHA 11?

    • @exklbr
      @exklbr Před 2 lety +1

      Kinda the same here, went from the RPHA 70 to the EXO R1. Fit, finish and quality are just so much better on the Scorpion. Did you find any huge difference regarding airflow and noise between the RPHA 11 and the R1?

      @stinger_zx10r62 Před 2 lety +1

      @@exklbr you know I don't wear the HJC much at all anymore so I couldn't compare wind noise that well but I would say that EXO R1 maybe has slightly more wind noise just based off of the fact that my Sena comms are more difficult with my buddies with the R1

      @nolimitgsxr5090 Před 2 lety +5

      I kinda have opposite impression on the Scorpion exo r1 carbon. I feel like the liner in the hjc is nicer, and scorpion is physically bigger and bumps into my jacket on shoulder checks. I also had a couple fit and finish issues with the scorpion where the rear spoiler meets the helmet also the center latch on my clear visor was broken upon arival. I don't hardly wear it as the hjc feels better on my head.

The two X14 I got are matte and I can tell you those paint don't last long. They are very easily scratched. I also like the face shield locking mechanism on the RPHA1. Seems easier to handle and it's definitely safer. Maybe it's just me after all those years, I would need a break from X14 haha.

    I have the AGV K1 as my first helmet. Actually the guy I bought the bike from had a 10+ year old HJC 3 sizes too big that he threw in with the bike. That was technically my first helmet but the AGV came in the mail 2 days later so I consider it my first haha. Anyways, I’m not totally satisfied with it and I’m gonna buy a RPHA1N in the spring. Probably a race replica or Red Bull graphic.

    Hello Van, I gotta say, I love your gear review videos! Sometimes I even watch for gear that I'm probably never going to buy!
    Anyway, my question relates to the whole five year thing and track days etc..
    If I buy a helmet like the 11 Pro that's been out for awhile, could I end up with a helmet with an old manufacture date that wouldn't give me very much time in the five year window?
    I'm considering an 11 Pro over the 1N simply because I don't do enough track days to really justify the price difference between the two

    Is the 1N simply a shell with a single composition EPS and lastly the liner? Was there more to it along the lines of a Bell Flex or Fly Formula? They don’t say much about it on the HJC website.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  Před 2 lety +2

      The EPS in the RPHA 1N is painted black (as most EPS liners are) so I am not able to tell when the liner is removed. When I spoke to HJC USA about this helmet asking for some details on the FIM cert and other points the person I spoke with did not have the info I was looking for. From that call it was clear they feel the FIM cert through the entire size range should give riders confidence in this model because the exact same helmet is being worn in the highest levels of motorcycle racing. - Van

    • @paulmcmullen914
      @paulmcmullen914 Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks. Good to hear the US version of the 1N will be FIM and ECE 22-06 approved. The Bell Flex sold in the US is not ECE approved. Only the models sold in Europe. Bell indicated the shell is different. I believe the Snell cert requires a shell that is quite stiff and makes slower speed energy management more difficult. Don’t quote me, that’s from memory.

    Stumbled across this video in my search for naked bike helmets, notice from the other comments that it’s not available yet.
    Think I’ll add this to my shortlist but I’m really looking for the ultimate naked bike helmet. I don’t know if there is such a thing but I’m searching.
    Right now you may laugh, I’m riding around in a neo tech 2 ( something to be said about taking a drink of water without removing your helmet) with a brand new street fighter and it’s killing me. some reason it’s fine on my multi-Strada but I get on to Tuono or street fighter It just kills my neck after 100 or so miles. So I’m thinking this ( hjc 1n) or the shark or maybe an agv Corsa R. I must confess I’ve always been in a Arai guy But I’m venturing out to see what else is out there because I feel sometimes if your brand loyal you miss out, I own a few Corsair X for your comparison. It’s a great helmet once on your head incredibly hard to get on and off very comfortable but like I said I’m venturing out.
    Thank you for your video reviews. I’m going to watch a few more I may be able to answer my own questions. thank you

      @@Problica As a web developer and SEO specialist, you don't ever remove products from an e-commerce platform simply because an item isn't in stock. This causes all kinds of chaos when it comes to search results and indexing. Therefore there is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping an item online. STG already flags items when they're not in stock. Secondly, plenty of businesses have listings for products that are no more produced. Do you assume a company just calls it a loss and liquidates inventory because something's out-of-date? No. That's completely illogical from a business standpoint.
      Seriously, stop being an internet Karen. Have a nice day :)
