- Axial’s UTB18 Capra Buggy found here: bit.ly/3NirwpD has landed in the RC Driver workshop and Greg jumped right on getting the video completed for everyone interested. This new small scale rig from Axial is 1/18 scale and is modeled after its big brother the 1/10 Capra. Being smaller in scale means it could be lots of fun for those with small spaces to have a more capable rig to wheel. In typical RC Driver fashion, Greg tore down the truck so you can see the inner workings of the rig and takes it out for a fun crawl on the rocks so you can see just how it performs!

Let's debate the elephant in the room..... IT'S not a true 1/18 scale. The panda 46 dodge is a 1/18 scale. I pre-order this, I will cancel my order. Traxxas is coming out with a true 1/18. 👍 guessing axial has adopted the Democrats way.
Axial should have let you introduce this first. Before you took it apart to thoroughly introduce it I was skeptical. But now it actually looks like a legitimate option.
This one is kinda ..meh. IDK what to think, what was axial thinking is the question. lol No, it is cool, Just why 1/18, and it looks more like 1/16. Also, cant we stick to DSMR spektrum radio gear? What's with the random models getting SLX? Id rather it be a BND where I can at least bind to my DX5 pro, and not have to throw the RX in the bin.😬
It's just too expensive. They should've skipped the licensing.
Wow still seems way over priced for what you get. 2 in 1 esc I never have any good luck with those. Seem like a cheap way out
So...for almost a hundred bucks less....ECX Temper 2. Just sayin.
It looks great. I have to be missing something Greg? How can we justify spending 100.00 more for that then the New Traxxas TRX4m which is only 149.00? Plus you have several motor transmission bolt in options from the factory. Again I am sure there is a reason its 100 more. Do you feel it has some features that makes it worth the extra 100 bucks over the trx4m?
250 is way to high
It's an axial so it's very nice looking product, however it seems to me most people either want / can afford 24th scale or the larger 10th scale, I think the majority of us would love the larger 1/5 scale crawlers but people cant see dropping 12 hun on a single crawler, unfortunately the only folks that have them are the CZcams channels they were given to for review, sadly Ive yet to see one in the real world out crawling but I understand why ,so for me I can't see 18th scale taking off ,I think it'll be the tiny crawlers or larger more affordable 10th scale, I'm so Happy to see axial ,traxxas etc pushing the limit tho ,that's great news....
I think it looks awesome! I don't know why all the hate on it. I think the 1/18 scale will take off now that Traxxas and Axial are releasing rigs in that scale. The problem I think most have with 1/18 scale is there is no aftermarket support for that scale and that's because until now, there hasnt been a big name in that scale. You know Traxxas and Axial will have an aftermarket support. This size is perfect for indoor, outdoor and tinkering. The 24th scale is absolutely a pain in the butt to work on. And right out of the box, this thing is loaded compared to anything 24th scale. I think you're right, Greg, those wheels gotta go 😂. But, other than that, Axial did a good job!
Its got a 12th scale wheelbase and width. The Team Associated Cr12 has very similar wheelbase and width. Same motor and tire/wheel size.
I think most of the hate for this is because it's twice the size of other 1/18's and is 250 dollhairs. This uses 1.55" wheels and TRX4M's use 1" wheels. So there's not gonna be much in common with each other for aftermarket parts.
Great video review of this little car! Thank you for taking the time, again, to tear down the chassis/drivetrain and let the viewers see the haps to craps on whats inside! And! @
This might be a good replacement for my ECX Temper gen 2. It's a fun crawler but has breakage problems (axles and driveshafts) and the parts aren't cheap.
Great insight on this rig…well done!
Great show, my guy! Neat edition to the market. Unfortunately for the mini guys, it’s huge! Amazing location and shots!
Thanks for giving this a fair shake! So much hate on it from day one? Love it, the scale doesn’t bother me, most RC are not to actual scale they market them. With weight, maybe tires, and some shock tinkering - I think you are spot on that this will be amazing. Cheers!
You may have the ultimate crawling spot, that has to never get old....so awesome 💯 oh yeah the rig looks awesome to!!
1/18 scale is the market to explore. And this capra is definitely a fun rig to drive. Am sure people will be making their own 4WS soon. All the brass will come in. I'd like to see brushless upgrades too. Great video as always, waiting for my local hobby store to bring them to my shore. 🤣
