    We used pale oak in most of our main floor, stairwell and basement. It does tend to change tones with lighting and that was something we had to get used to but now we are quite happy with it, especially how it tends to blend so well with its surroundings. Makes the whole area feel brighter (especially compared to the beiges we used to have there)

      We used Pale Oak in almost our entire main floor, upper stairway and basement. It’s a lovely mix of grey and beige. It can look more beige with pink undertones in some areas but more beige or grey in other areas depending on lighting. Seems to go with everything quite well. The house feels much more bright (previously was much more beige).

      @donnav thanks so much for informing me of the nuances of this paint. I may have to keep searching because the pink may not work.

    What I want to find is a neutral (white) that will last the test of time. Most of us can't afford to redecorate as the trends change. My LR faces South and I just want a basic color to use (technically throughout my entire house to keep it all uniform) that I can update with minimal accessories should I choose. I'm a minimalist at heart although I still want my home to feel cozy and inviting, if that makes any sense. By using the same wall color generally throughout my home I don't need to keep multiple different paint cans around for the eventual needed touch up. My moto is "less is more" even when decorating.

      Hi Barbara! You've come to the right place! If you haven't seen it yet, check out this video on soft white paint colors ➡️czcams.com/video/sosbq223Zq4/video.html. There are some great whole house white paint colors covered and different ways to use them. It's good to hear from a fellow minimalist! 😊

    I’ve got alabaster satin on my north facing foyer walls. I wanted a warm black for interior double entry door and a warm color just a smidge darker than the alabaster for the two closet doors and all trim. Any advice on closet and trim color and sheen? Also which black would you recommend. I was thinking matte for the black double door. Thanks!

      @BalanceRhythm  Před 28 dny

      Check out this video for my recommendations for sheen ➡️czcams.com/video/sosbq223Zq4/video.html . Every space is different because of lighting conditions and existing finishes so I usually recommend Samplize.com for color selection. They have a darks bundle that should be helpful in making a choice that's unique to your space.

    I just want a medium beige to paint an entire off (walls, book built-in and trim) that's not grey but also warm. Why is it so hard? 😫

    We have fir trim in our farmhouse that has an orange look. What neutral might work with it?

    • @BalanceRhythm
      @BalanceRhythm  Před 4 měsíci +1

      It's really hard to say without seeing the space and all the finishes. I would recommend going to samplize.com and looking at their bundles especially the White Creams and Muted Creams that have lots of warm tones which is what you'll need to coordinate with an orange tone. You can order peel and stick samples there, bundles or individual colors, to test them out.

    I’m so glad I found you!!! I’m having such a dilemma. I have an open concept lakeside home with a wall of windows along the length of our home facing due west. The amount of windows, their size and West exposure gives us an abundance of natural light. Just a year ago we painted all of our walls Benjamin Moore, Balboa mist. I thought it would be perfect and the LRV was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it’s casting a bluish/purpleish undertone that’s driving me crazy. We hired a painter last week and I went and picked out what I thought would be a warm neutral and the painter painted the walls yesterday in Benjamin Moore’s Manchester tan. It’s just awful!! I hate it!! It makes our beautiful home look dated. All of our trim is Chantilly lace which I love. I am in desperate need of selecting a color and would love another color like Balboa mist that does not have the bluish/purple undertones. Can you give me a recommendation?!!

    • @BalanceRhythm
      @BalanceRhythm  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Nancy! Welcome! My best recommendation is to pick three to five colors and either paint samples on the walls or get peel and stick samples from Samplize samplize.com/. Leave them there for several days and look at them in natural light at all times of the day and in artificial lighting at night. Also, look at Benjamin Moore's Off-White Collection: www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-colors/off-white-collection. Balboa Mist is there so you can use it to compare. Some good in between shades might be those in the third column like White Dove, Dove Wing, Seapearl and Pale Oak. Also, check out the other comments on this video. There was some good feedback with other community members' personal experiences. I hope that helps a bit!

    I just feel all these look too gray. I THINK I prefer a warm neutral that has more yellow undertones. I DO NOT WANT cool or any hints of pink.
