    Just did this job myself on a W126. I used a fluro orange. Decanted from spray can and applied with brush. Looks like a factory finish.

    I owned multiple W124, still own one as dail driver. I painted all of their needles with fluo red on the yellow base. I love the car, but hate the orange needles :)

    Must have been a difficult art class!

      Impalaman's Garage at the end of high school i was disillusioned and lost - everyone else knew what they wanted to do for their future and I had no idea. I then didn’t apply myself and spent most of the time screwing around and getting in trouble. I didn’t even show up to my own graduation.

    No airbrush?
    Well, it's not something that you will pay a hell lot of attention to see if you can spot any brush marks, but well, you've now got a basically new odometer. At least at the glance.
    BTW, Tamiya is the way to go when it comes to high quality scale modelling.

      this tamiya paint doesnt leave brush marks, i was astonished. once you pass over it with the brush it slowly gells together and fills the strokes. The Japanese have done well with this chemistry

    Hello
    Why you didn't take the small needles out and painted them?

    How to clean mold?

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  Před 4 lety +2

      altezzabmw the housing itself? I’ve not had much success with this, but i would suggest if you wanted to use water to wash it out (once stripped) i would only use distilled water so it does not leave deposits inside when it drys. Some people have successfully removed the clear front screen but I am yet to try this. I would practice on a junk one first incase it gets destroyed.

    Is there a brown wire behind the cluster? I'm tracing the wirings on my W201. I haven't removed the cluster yet. Will do that soonish

      Rfbu lol theres plenty. From memory theres a main grounding point back there

      @@MMWA-DAVE thx, I wonder if there's a fuse there. I was replacing the illumination bulbs with cheapo LEDs for the heater and air distribution switch, fan & temp selection lever. I think I have shorted something... the LEDs are certainly working but it's all dark ... sigh

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  Před 4 lety

      Rfbu if the cluster is also dark check the red fuse on the back of the cluster. It doesn’t take much to blow it.

      @@MMWA-DAVE err no... the cluster is fine. Dimmer function works well. Everything is lit - speedo, rev counter e.t.c. looks like the fuse is good.

      Rfbu i hAve seen the fine wires up the shaft of the fan speed switch etc snap off from the terminals. You might need to get out your multimeter

    Mr.. how you make speedometer 00000000 ? Please can you tell us? Thnks

    • @MMWA-DAVE
      @MMWA-DAVE  Před 4 lety +1

      the small gears that rotate the next wheel every 10 digits of the previous wheel are on a shaft. this shaft is pressed into plastic stands at each end. You can push the shaft out at one end and move the numbers where ever you like then press the shaft back in. The plastic stand you are pressing into must be supported or it will snap off. Also, this cannot be done with an old brittle sun damaged speedo or it will 100% break. This is usefull for replacing old damaged speedos and maintaining the correct, documented milage for the car. Obviously altering the reading for any other reason is generally illegal. I will want mine to be zero to know exactly how many km i get out of the car and have no intention of ever selling it,

    • @MMWA-DAVE

      Mario Verduzco I don’t think it does. It goes on very thick and them flattens before drying
