    “Was in danger of being put down because she appears to be aggressive” cuts to cutest most non aggressive bark ever. The staff really needs to be better educated if they are making life/death calls of another living creature.

      It’s just based on her breed! In this case Her demeanor was literally nervous and anxious not aggressive.. pitties have the worst reputation due to irresponsible owners and the media, when in fact if treated properly they are super loyal, affectionate and wonderful dogs

    • @SquidandCatAdventures
      @SquidandCatAdventures Před 4 lety +2

      I suspect that the statement applies to the potential adopters in addition to the staff assessing. If the dog appears aggressive to them (and yah, there's already a bias with the breed with the average person viewing the dogs), then they will less likely choose her, and then be eventually put down. Of course, the staff are not helping if that's how they label her. But I think if they brought in Caesar, it shows that they don't think the dog is too aggressive and they want the best for the dog, and they are literally getting the education from him in the video. I don't know these people, but they wouldn't be there working at it if they didn't love the animals.

      Have you ever worked at a pet shelter? I’m not sure what it’s like in America, but a large majority of pet shelters in Australia are predominantly volunteer and donation run. Feel free to donate your time to your local pet shelter before passing criticism.

    • @MusicTennis
      @MusicTennis Před 6 lety +26

      Shirley, the USA relies on volunteers too but what does that have to do with Kollin Hamilton's correct statement that all staff at shelters, humane societies and veterinarian societies need to follow Cesar Millan's or some equally effective dog behavior modification method?? I've been to humane society outlets and the staff had no clue how to treat a scared dog. They squatted down and say 'it's okay..it's okay baby" giving eye contact. They didn't understand that you do not approach a scared dog with eye contact. Shirley that's your first lesson for today. As Cesar say's "no talk no touch no eye contact". That's how you approach a unstable dog. Okay? Now c'mon back for lesson 2.

    • @brennanmunoz7411

    • @Moss_piglets
      @Moss_piglets Před 6 lety +2

      KOLLIN HAMILTON that would be great but most public shelters like here in NYC relies on volunteers. They don't get proper training and on top of that the animals are so stressed out from ebing locked in cases. It's even worst for senior dogs who were surrendered by owners because they're old.

      @daisychainmilk Před 5 lety +3

      It didnt seem like the staff belived that but the potential adopters who see the dog barking will assume its aggressive and wont adopt it. It is a shelter and there isnt a lot of space, if the dog isnt getting adopted and the reason people don't adopt is because they think the dog is aggressive than they will most likely be put down. The staff knows the dog isnt aggressive otherwise they wouldn't have let a staff member into that cage with the dog.

    I wish the US gov't would pass tougher laws regarding animal ownership. Make it tougher for owners to just abandon their pets when they are no longer wanted. There are so many dogs in shelters that most are killed make room for incoming animals. All dogs and dog owners should be registered. Animals spayed/neutered. We wouldn't have this problem if people are just more responsible.

      VisualAddict if it is tougher to give them up for adoption, more people will kill them. Give a safe place for owners too. What if an owner decides it cant or dont want to take care of it. What do they supposed to do? Make up yalls minds. Do u want the animal safe or kept safe

      Just what I was thinking. Who knows what the dogs probably been through prior to the animal shelter, now she's in strange environment, with a lady grabbing her impatiently by the collar. Of course, she's going to be nervous. Smh

    Poor dog.. She seems harmless and is adorable.
    That lady with the red hair has a weird and inpatient energy, the dog probably senses that.
    I'd hate to think what the poor animals go through at animal shelters, some of the workers are there for a paycheck.

    I’m not an expert on dog behavior but even I know that that wasn’t aggressive behavior just them being nervous

    It's always these weirdos that make the situation worse, addressing everything the dog is doing with verbal correction and adding stress. I don't understand how they don't get what they're doing is bad. I rarely meet calm dog owners and almost always in those situations you have a dog is hyper active, stressed and poorly behaved.

    Ears back, eyes slightly back, tail down. Where is the aggression?? The dog shows all the signs of being insecure. Timid, nervous. Thank god cesar was there to help.

    Basically these ladies need a realization and possibly a new career,,, places like this need to be trained and properly inspected, because that pitbull didn’t deserve anything those ladies said
