  • Hi guys.
I'm Tyler, I'm a 31 year old actor with a love for music and entertainment. I decided to start doing reaction videos as a way of getting more confident in front of camera and also to explore different genres of music and entertainment. I grew up listening to British indie bands, but I own a wide variety of music.
This is my FIRST EVER PENTATONIX Reaction!!!

There have been a very small handful of times where they’ve double-recorded Avi’s voice for two different simultaneous parts in album recordings and music videos, but yeah as a general rule they limit to what can be done live.

ALLLL the Pentatonix. Since you appreciate using voices creatively, I DEFINITELY recommend: "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," and "Carol of the Bells." I know they're both Christmas, but they replicate a fully instrumental in Sugar Plum, and they mimic strings, like a string trio, in Carol of the Bells. I also recommend the Daft Punk Medley as another really creative use of vocals. They sound like a legit electro recording. I also second anyone who recommends the Sing-Off Performances. It's amazing watching them as a new group sing, week-to-week, all these new arrangements, totally live, and to see them build their chops. Not that they weren't amazing from the beginning. You can see Kevin (beatboxer) playing cello in "Radioactive," and a personal fav of mine is "Gold," the Kiiara cover where you get to see Mitch sing something that had to be electrically created in her original.

The first time I heard them do this cover was at a live show. It was the finale and I was super skeptical and salty that they would even attempt it. However, immediately I had major goosebumps and by the end I was almost crying. It was perfect. If anyone questions if they can really pull this off live, I will tell you, they absolutely can. True talent all the way.

Oh god its so good to see another Brit reacting to PTX, and if you're still close to "home" then you're just down the road! lol. There are surprisingly few of us Pentaholics here in the UK compared to other parts of the world and I never really understood why.
As other commenters have said you're likely to get inundated with requests and suggestions. There's very little a pentaholic likes more than watching someone else discover this amazing group of people, and every pentaholic has their own discovery playlist that they feel best introduces someone to the group. There's a huge back catalogue to pick from, so have a trawl through their channel and see what catches your fancy.
Saying that... my suggestions would be "Love Again" which is an early original track from them, "Come Along" which is nuts in the most brilliant of ways, Evolution of Music, which is just too damn clever for its own good, and "Daft Punk" because its an excellent showcase and iconic.
Lastly, no doubt the rest of the crowd will fill you in on the back story if you ask, or just google it. But a few things worth knowing going into your next video are:
    - Despite appearances, there has only ever been one change to the PTX line-up. Anything you watch dated after 2017 will have a different bass singer. They were all incredibly young when they started out (three of them only 19), so understandably over the last nine years they've changed a lot, most especially Mitch (the dark haired male), so if you find yourself wondering if there's someone different in a video, unless its the bass, then no really, its the same people.
    - They Really are this good live. I saw them in Manchester a couple of years ago and trust me, they did not disappoint (unlike so many "artists" in the charts - Why Rizzle Kicks? Why were you so bad?)
    - While the bulk of their back catalogue is covers, they also do original music, which for some reason is frequently over looked by reactors. You will make a lot of people happy if you react to an original song.
So thanks for this brilliant reaction. Hope to see more from you soon. Hitting subscribe.... NOW.

But, you'll also discover Super Fruit, Kevin "KO" Olusola, Brian Justin Crum, and Home Free...to name only a few. We Pentaholics, and the Home Fries ( Home Frees fans ), are some of the more vocal, but not all of those who will come to your channel now that you've started reacting to this group. You'll find, however, that we tend to be loyal, helpful, honest, supportive, and one of the more encouraging groups of fans on the internet. That's one of the major reasons, I would guess, that channels who do these reactions well tend to "take off" pretty quickly. Give us what we want, and we'll support you through most anything.

That behind the scenes video is awesome. At one point they decided the couch was trying to kill them. In the final scene, where the room comes back together, the couch *did* manage to break the lamp.
(I think they didn't realize in advance the way that motorizing the couch would change how it balances, and with all that climbing on and off, well, there were bound to be some mishaps...)

NIce job! Now please react to some more recent work by this phenomenal group: "Happy Now," their latest original song, and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," from the Lion King. Most people new to the group like to review their epic version of "Hallelujah," which has received more than half a BILLION YT views, and their Grammy winning medley of "Daft Punk." Everything they do is first class, so enjoy the ride. It's all, quite literally, good!

I think soon you will be having a huge jump in your subscribership LOL a few little tidbits to add to what everyone else is saying. PTX formed to be on the US based competition show "The Sing Off" in 2011. After winning the show, over the years they have won 3 grammies (mostly for best arrangement). One for "Daft Punk", one for "Dance of the Sugar Plumb Fairy" and one for "Jolene" (collaboration with Dolly Parton). PTX does quite a bit of covers and a LOT of christmas songs. They recently released a new EP with some original songs on it. The last time they released an album with original songs on it was about 5 years ago ("Love Again" and "Run To You" are both originals and really are fantastic works of art to listen to). Anyway, welcome to the family :)

Welcome to the rabbit hole known as PTX. The wall of sound they create is immense..the harmonies are so intricate. No one can do what they do, and I've heard the others. Daft Punk Medley, it gave them their first grammy and was done in a closet...check it out. Hundreds of others...enjoyed the reaction. Happy Now is brand new and one of the best feel good songs in a while!!

We can give you tons of recommendations if you want them, but really you cannot make a mistake with anything you pick. Covers, original songs, their side projects, etc. are all amazing. I would make one suggestion. Listen with a good set of headphones. So good to see another reactor appreciate Pentatonix! As others have said (though it bears repeating) Mitch and Kirsten change their looks and styles dramatically and frequently, but the only change is when Avi left and Matt became the new bass. You will get many requests. I favor “Imagine”, “Gold” “Say Something “, and their newest original, “Happy Now “. But really, you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. Just, for our sake, choose PTX!

Subscribed! I’ve seen this video several times, and I just realized that the ‘flashlight’ homage was done in one take. I’m sure they practiced many times and and many ‘bloopers’ while filming, but it’s not an edited together section - even with all the movement with the flashlights. It’s cool that they put in the effort to do that in one take for the video.

Great reaction, got a new sub! Welcome to the rabbit hole that is PTX! Stay with them and you will be in for a wonderful and amazing ride. You will also find your video views and subscribers growing very quickly as PTX fans love watching reactions to this amazing group.
I won’t make specific suggestions, IMO EVERY song they do is masterful. Look into their channel and pick anything and you will not be disappointed.
Three notes, first, wear headphones! Unless you have a studio quality sound system, you will miss a lot of amazing nuance. Second, if you want to experience this group from their inception and learn about them and see how amazingly they’ve grown, all their performances on the Sing Off are on CZcams, in fact as well as each performance having its own video, there is a video with all their performances in one. Lastly, your pausing the video occasionally to comment is a smart move. PTX videos are notoriously pulled down for Copyright hits; pausing mostly avoids that.
