      Best description. Think back on that hours long steady state, 5*1500, or 12 by 2 min row, and ultimately that 2k test. However, again, you feel you have achieved so much, and any other fitness sports made you feel easy.

    Rowing is a my passion, every rower hates it but somehow we keep waking up and going to the boatshed. When you ask a rower why they can never give you a certain answer since they do not know themselves. They do not know the motivation that drives them. Rowing is a passion, and rowers know what it is deep inside

      Johnson Lim Couldn't be more right. That second you finish a 2k, every time you feel like you can't breath, your bones are aching and your muscles are sore, every rower asks themselves why they row. I have heaps of friends ask me why I row. I try and pinpoint a reason, but in truth it's like there is none. All that matters is that I still feel compelled to row season after season.
      Rowing is indeed a passion. Just a very confusing, difficult and painful passion :D

      You guys sound like drug addicts , just replace the word row with shooting up and rowers with junkies and you have basically the script to the movie requiem of a dream or basketball diary

      @MikeRoberts1964 Před 7 lety +4

      That's actually very accurate. It is an addiction, really. Why else would I have gotten up at 4am, gotten dressed and out the door in the cold of 4:30, rode to the boathouse and wait in the dark to be let in and work my ass off for an hour in the gym, then go across the road to the pool and practice strokes for another hour, then go off to class, then come back to do more pool work or run? It was an addiction.

      6 AM row, when you have 8 other guys (cox) waiting for you, and once you are on the water and finished your first piece, it's worth it!

    • @DougKutyna
      @DougKutyna Před 7 lety

      Yes. Unfortunately there is very little variability in rowing. It is not uncommon for a team to race all through high school and never place, much less win.

    • @unicyclemaster470
      @unicyclemaster470 Před 7 lety +1

      If your head is down and looking in the boat your airways are not straight, you are not breathing properly and probably exhausted as a result.

      when you are far enough in front, if your focus is of the head in front of you you still see your victims in your peripheral vision. also if you are stroke in a pair or 4- guess what you can see in that position 😜

  • @MrSister127
    @MrSister127 Před 10 lety

    I live in the states and what I do is called rowing, but we don't use those lightweight little fiberglass hulls, I row wooden longboats, I think that it is the truest form of rowing, without any gear or people our boats weigh the same as your boats fully loaded
