Finally James is getting some recognition. I would suggest to watch some live performances, they’re even better and he played the piano. He’s such a passionate singer. Maybe next his most famous song “ you’re beautiful “.
This song is about a girl Blunt dated, but he wrote it years after the relationship ended. When he appeared on the UK show Songbook, Blunt explained: "I guess it's a realization that you'll never be with someone, but the frustration that they are still alive and out there in the world. It can be an incredibly painful idea - I sat with the song for quite a long time. But for me, it's probably my most personal song. Whereas 'You're Beautiful' is about a moment, one second in time of passing that person, the song 'Goodbye My Lover' is about a lifetime's worth of emotion, the fact that that relationship is over, and that life continues. And yeah, it's the most personal song on Back To Bedlam."
When he first came out a lot of people talked shit about him because of his high voice. Acting like he wasnt manly enough. Not many of them knew that he was a captain in the British military before getting into music
@HearthSide yeah everybody has their own taste in music. I listen to what i enjoy. To many people decide what they like or dont like by what others think. Im not one of those lol ill go from 2pac to garth brooks to billy joel to Sublime. Lol
This song live hits hard.
You should listen to "No Bravery". He wrote it while serving on the front lines of the Kosovo War with Nato. It's powerful.
Honestly the entire Back To Bedlam album is amazing. Especially live. I love "1973" as well.
Would DEFINITELY second that!! No Bravery (especially the official video where you see James in his British Army days) is incredible, haunting and brutal!!
@@stuartfoster7052 I would 'third' that. He wrote the song leaning against his Tank whilst taking a little 'time out' from all the devistation in Kosovo. Beautiful heart kicking song ♥
Agreed!
Him singing “No Bravery” is so moving
I think it's a common misconception that his partner died and it does take on a much sadder slant if that's what you feel. I believe it's more metaphorical than that but that's the beauty of this song, we can all get our own meaning from it.
Initially I was never a fan of JB but my wife persuaded me to go and see him live and I rapidly changed my opinion.
I like the track No Tears - not many people ever mention that one
" Carry You Home" "Your Beautiful" I LOVE James Blunt. Both James and his father were officers in the British Army. James was a recognizance officer in Kosovo. He actually took his guitar with him and wrote these earlier songs.
This is what James said about the song, from Song Facts:
💕 Your Beautiful 💕 next please 🇬🇧😉
James Blunt ..... "So Far Gone"
"IF Time Is All That I Have"
"Bonfire Heart"
"Carry You Home"
"No Bravery"
The Bonfire Hearts video is great!! You see a bit more of his personality. I agree that Goodbye My Lover is better live where he is playing the piano and has tears in his eyes.
Watch James sing Goodbye My Lover on The Voice Germany about 9 months ago.The energy and emotion he puts into everything is astounding. Thx for your thoughtful reactions.
There’s a live version of this, I believe it’s at the Oxford Union, just him at the piano, the acoustics are amazing.
This song is so beautiful. James Blunt in my opinion has one of the most beautiful voices in English
This song still hits hard. Wisemen, OK and Melody are other awesome songs by him!!! 👌👌👌
I m so glad that you have found this extraordinary artist.I´ve been listening to him since 2007 when I heared his most famous song "You´re beautiful" in the Richard gere film´s Unfaithful. I recommend you to check "1973","Carry you home","Same mistake","Dont give those eyes","No bravery","Champion" and "The Greatest",among many others.
Hes also one of the funniest men on twitter...his comebacks are legendary x
I'm glad you mentioned this , he's in a class of his own on twitter.
Ahh ,such sweet memories hearing this song again."Beautiful , or You`re beautiful" is my favourite of his.
Watch his life performance in university hall. He's older and puts even more emotion into it making it even more amazing.
Also, one nobody does; CARRY YOU HOME. True story from his service in Afghanistan. It may become your favorite it's so good.
Oh, I'm so glad you love him! His voice is so unique and his songs are so emotional. Although I have my favorites from my time (70s, 80s), John Mayer and James Blunt are among my favorites of this generation.
This always makes me shed a tear...
So many albums for you to explore! He is such a talented song writer and singer. It all started for him with "You're beautiful" which was a world wide hit. But there are so many songs to choose from and they're all good! I have all his CD's so I'm a huge fan.
I love James Blunt's songs. Carry you home and the greatest are my favorite
Incredible song from BACK BEDLAM album. Every song on that album is a MASTERPIECE. I was lucky enough to see his concert in 2008 touring with Sara Barellies. I shed a lot of tears cause it was such a beautiful concert ❤️
Blunt and Bareilles together in the same show?! Wow!!😮
@@alfredkar Yes . I think it was James first time touring in the US. I saw them at the Vic theater in Chicago. . 🤣.
You need to do his biggest hit YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL.
James is amazing. This song is sensational and the live versions you'll find are even better.
Love how you appreciate all good music. You should check out no bravery or carry you home. Regarding his military past
Relationships end but there are some you hold as special and never forget.
Great reaction to a fantastic song (which I think is his best). I've seen a few live versions of this and he puts his heart and emotion into every performance.
I too love James Blunt. Awesome review 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦
great master james blunt
What a unique voice. Such a sad song yet so beautiful at the same time. One of the first songs I learned on the piano.
So glad you like him and I’m chuffed I was there at the start - first heard one of his songs in HMV in Edinburgh towards the end of 2004 before he really hit big. My all time favourite is Tears and Rain - worth a listen if you get a chance.
On this same ‘Back to Bedlam’ album is his massive hit ‘You’re beautiful’ another incredibly raw song ,gives goosebumps. He does look so young here, can’t believe it’s almost 20 years ago!!
Wonderful 🏆
This is one of my favorite songs! This album “back to bedlam” is amazing
For more James Blunt I would definitely recommend You're Beautiful or Bonfire Heart! Loving your reactions so glad I found this channel

She's Gods gift to earth for real.
James Blunt - You're Beautiful
James Blunt - Bonfire Heart
James Blunt - Same Mistake
James Blunt - High
Your beautiful, No bravery, tears and rain, Cry, and The Greatest. Oh and Tracy Chapman’s all that you have is your soul
Very Beautiful song from James Blunt
Wonderful artist and man
I have loved James Blunt since his debut album. He has such a unique way of storytelling through music. My favourite thing about him though has to be that his songs are so deep and emotional, but the man is absolutely hilarious. Do yourself a favour and follow him on twitter, you won’t be disappointed. He’s the king of self deprecation
I love this song so much. thank you for reacting to this!!! 💞💞💞
Anton I think James is emotive feelings in motion I think you are great young man I am friends with my first long time boyfriend and my children’s Dad love and respect we are good friends 💕
James is a top guy and has great connection abilities. He Always manages to captivate me with his words. Love for you to do more James. You have a new sub.
Much Love and Respect from The UK.
Sometimes people axe out a former partner to avoid feeling the pain of any lingering regrets. We're being told to "feel good" all the time, we don't know how to sit with sadness or sorrow any more. But in not recognizing the sorrow, we miss holding on to the good that underlies the sorrow or sadness. We don't get sad about losing bad things, do we? If you're sad or sorrowful, it means there's an element of good that's there to be found.
This song much better on his live performance
'The Greatest' is another good one, especially with the video that shows how hard the medical staff worked through the first year of the pandemic.
James is my spirit animal
You should go to his official youtube channel "James Blunt" that's where you'll get a lot of back story on his different songs
i have all of his cds...he writes most of his songs...anything of his live is excellent...he did a duet with ed sheeran of elton john's song sacrifice...you should check it out
I'll second 'Sacrifice'! That was the first time I'd heard of him. Sheeran's voice and Blunt's mix extraordinarily well. [As do Sheeran's and Bocelli's, in their rendering of 'Perfect'.]
This is JUST my opinion... haven't ever read anything more, but when the song starts he says
I saw the end, before we'd begun
Yes, I saw you were blind and I knew I had won
So I took what's mine by eternal right
Took your soul out into the night
My interpretation of that is he was kind of a player... and when he first got her to go out with him, he loved the victory and thought he'd just cut her loose when he was "done". She went into the relationship honestly and giving him everything, and he played with her emotions. But when she finally said "Enough, I'm done", he realized how much she'd actually meant to him, how much he really loved her. And she was just never going to go back there because he'd damaged the trust she felt for him. So he's mourning how much he lost because he knows it was all his fault.
If I could suggest one of James's it would be Monster's.
More live reactions please, plenty to choose from...
This is my favorite song from him
I wrote a short story, inspired by this song
I love his music! Check out No Bravery; it’s about his time serving in Kosovo.
😭😭😭💔
Pls do you’re beautiful by JB!
Thank you for reacting to this , this came out in 2004 , This song is really personal to me , as when my ex girlfriend Sarah left me , my world fell apart :(
Feel you there brother, it’s a great song but too many bad memories
@@Killakatnage89 I agree , still though amazing song so much emotion

Pls do Tash sultana with jungle! She is so talented 🙌🏻
I can’t read the title of this song without saying it in a British West Country accent 😆
Check out "Same Mistake"...talk about lyrical genius.

review you're beautiful by james blunt
Listen to Staind - The Truth, and Staind - Something like Me! because i know exactly what you mean @ 9:45
Have a listen to "High" by James Blunt please.
If you're willing to try some older music and Looking for songs that tell stories you should try At Seventeen by Janice Ian
Hey there! Could you please react to Free by Florence and the machine that was released a few hours ago?!
Anton what makes you think she died ?
Where’s our Cher vids??!!
Hey Luke, this is a variety channel, I do what people request, so if you want more Cher take the initiative and request it (link below)!
Melissa please ask him to react to Jennifer Rush Power Of Love and Sinead O’Connor Nothing Compares To U.
Sinead O'Connor - Troy is much more powerful than Nothing compares to u.
@@RaduRadonysbut Nothing Compares 2 U is more emotional and passionate.
This song is debated: did she pass away or was there a break up
Uhm... is that Mischa Barton?? It sure looks like her!
Yes it is her
I disagree with you on your definition of pop. Pop, short for popular it's basically a genre that encompasses music that can't be defined, maybe combines multiple other genres, but it can be good, it's not just "bastardised" music, but it is fairly middle of the road music, but it can be great, think Madonna, Elton John, George Michael. Sure you can place them and the music that influences these artists as coming from other genres - blues, soul, jazz, but I the end that's just where they've come from.
Just as The Beatles came from genres that were around before they were formed, in their formative years, the best pop artists do the same. I feel your comments are, just like with me, a need to categorise everything into distinct categories when music (and life in general) isn't that easy, you can't just put things into boxes with clearly defined boundaries, there is a spectrum and often the best music can partly fit into a number of categories, but it is popular, so it's pop because it doesn't contain enough elements of love category to fit into just one.
Further to my previous commenti think any genre can be "bastardised", reduced to a formula to which a huge amount of music can be output all sounding very similar. Bad, generic music is just bad music, but to just assume that this is only in the pop genre is wrong.
My thoughts on pop is its just a writing style, usually catering to commercial success. What pop "typically" means to be is commercial successful music that generally follows the basic verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, final chorus structure. Because it doesn't seem to be a genre. But pop over the past 20 years has tendered to create a recognizable sound usually sound tenor vocals and an electronic backing you know?
@@antonreacts I think your wrong, but I can understand why you've come to that conclusion, it's that mass produced commercial music, like say Stock Aitken Waterman of the 1980s, follows a formula, and you could tell a track from that stable pretty much just by hearing the songs. I just don't think it was all so formulaic.
There was also plenty of commercially successful rock, heavy metal music that made it into the upper echelons of the charts but that wasn't labelled pop (and I'd also say that many of those songs also follow your pattern). Therefore it must be that the music that couldn't be categorised as something else was labelled pop, because it was popular, successful, but not easily pigeon holed (I'd also say that it had a certain sound).
I guess you could also say that pop really equates to easy listening, I've heard that used a lot as well, and that too is very defined. Finally I also think that if you enough genres you can define anything and then you don't need a category that catches everything else, and if something does come along that doesn't fit into any existing genre you just create a new one. But I think there are at least 80s and 90s (maybe even through to today) that can be identified as pop the sound of the music, the instrumentation and the lyrics, which aren't structured identically, that don't follow a set pattern.
And yeah, it's the most personal song on Back To Bedlam." James Blunt lived with actress Carrie Fisher while he recorded Back To Bedlam; he met her through a family friend. In the Radio Times February 10, 2006, James Blunt described how he recorded this song in Carrie Fisher's bathroom: "For 'Goodbye My Lover,' we needed a piano. There wasn't one in the home studio we recorded in but Carrie had one in her bathroom. So I said, Let's get the home studio and spend the night in there. It was a good acoustic - that's why people sing in the shower. And it sounds great to me - that's what's on the album." If you think the person Blunt is singing about in this song is dead, you're not the only one; Blunt says he gets asked that a lot. He says the girl he's singing about is very much alive, but the grieving in the song gives the impression of death…
