I bought this terrible condition water damaged switch off offerup as-is, and guy tells me he spilled soda all over it. It was really rough, the screen was scratched up and the backplate was really damaged. I'm going to attempt a nintendo switch restoration, and show you how to replace a switch screen, how to replace the LCD, and the joy-con rails! since we had an issue with joy-con not being detected. I also attempt to do a complete mario red switch housing swap and nintendo mario red backplate swap. but keyword on attempt there. Things did not go as planned and had to perform a switch screen replacement. This liquid damage switch is still savable though! I just need time for more parts, so stay tuned for part 2!

hi squid
Don't be pressured to do a video every week or so- as long as the quality of the content is good, that's all that matters!
Thank you!! 💖💖

Digitizers haunt my dreams. Rest in Pieces retina display macbook pro. You're totally not worth the headache or the 1k to completely replace. Can't wait for part 2!
You are so good, I wish i could be able to fix and restore devices because it seems really fun to me but i think it took a lot to get where you are and you deserve respect for ur job. Keep up the good work!
👍👍👍
i really hope part 2 comes out soon, i really love your commentary and repair work. I wanna see this switch back in her former glory. 🥺😇
How does a Nintendo have a gender
@@peanut7630 Machines are typically referred to as female
@@peanut7630 I'm used to saying stuff like this in projects with female pronouns. 😅
I love this channel so much. I never thought I would be into something like this but it is so well filmed and your voice is so insightful.
Y'know...Even though I don't watch your channel often, this may be my favorite CZcams channel. Your articulation is so relaxing, even with a lack of music.
I just discovered your channel through the Animal Crossing switch video. Love your style, knowledge, and just the whole vibe of your videos. Subscribed and I look forward to seeing what you post in the future!
I love all of your videos! All of the radiate comfort and idk why but I love it. Keep doing what you are doing :)
I discovered your channel just the other day and I really like your videos, looking forward to watching more, keep up the good work
Loving your videos, the sound design is perfect with the voice over and the audio from the repair. Keep it up!
Thank you! 🤗
I love the chill flute music in the background
ETA: just figured out it’s chill flute music playing in my very own bedroom 😂
BRUH HOW DOES NOBODY SEE YOUR CONTENT ITS AMAZING YOU DESERVE MORE SUBS
I have no idea how you do this but still so cool to watch
Really enjoyed this video, would still love to see a part two. See if you were able to salvage it. Great video, keep making great content. =)
Can’t wait for part 2!!! Yay! I don’t mind that it was long.
I was so hyped seeing this notification. I saw all the community posts and was so excited!
You are so damn underrated I really hope more people find your channel!!
This is the kind of channel that usually has 500k to 1 mil subs. I was rly surprised that you only have 57k subs! This guy deserves more subs. I subbed
Your videos are the reason I have an animal crossing switch and am gonna reshell my new joycons ;-; you got this Jeff, one lousy screen can’t stop you!
Thank you for the support 🥺💖 lowkey thought people might have been mad I couldn’t completely fix the dang thing.
Waiting for part two! Subbed!
Been waiting for this vid! Nice work as akways JEFF!
Love how chill his voice is, such wholesome content!
this man also could've just bought a new switch but he desided to remake it for the content
you're REALLY tempting me to just buy all of this and do a shell swap
I really like your videos! Great style and aesthetic.
If I ever buy a switch when I get enough money, I’ll definitely go back and watch this video to help me see what’s wrong with my switch. Thanks for the help man!
Thanks for the content Jeff!!
Man, you are amazing!! Keep up the good work!
Have to be careful with the digitizer sometimes with the LCD usually there's some film that has to be placed in front of the digitizer, look at the other assembly and see if there's something the new one doesn't have
Nice video! Keep up the good work!
Watching your video is so relaxing and cool
Throwback to Dammit Jeff's twitch days, glad to see you're alive and doing well though my man. Savvy and I miss you
Great video Jeff :) Hope you're doing well
Was this eventually fixed? Still waiting for that part 2 :P
I liked where the video was going but in the end it probably turned out that fixing that switch cost the same as buying a new one? xd
Also part 2 soon please?
this content is great, keep it up!
For stripped screws on my joycons, I used a really small bit drill to just cut off the head and plyers to remove the threading.
Love watching videos like this, especially yours, it's very relaxing. I know you said you don't like ordering from amazon, I kinda want to get into fixing electronics. What's the best place to shop for things like, digitizers, lcd's, tablet parts, etc?
I had an issue with a stripped screw a few days ago. I just drilled it out. it was a lot easier than I thought. I was really worried when it first happened lol
I subbed. You had me laughing. I just took apart a whole switch bruh leave me alone😂😂😂😂
Very cool video, too bad the display didn't work. I have this kind of switch and i love it! Now i need to find a shell for my joy cons that matches the blue joy con grip...
Hey I love your content , I also have a switch and it is down bad lol ,
Anyways I loved this vid and here is a sub:)
Hi I just came across your channel today and was watching to see about replacing the outer shell of my Switch. I gasped at the problems you came across with the digitizer. I couldn't find the second video for the continuation of what your results are after all the work.
Great video as always Jeff , I would love to see a video involving the oculus quest 2.
I just bought one!! Been loving it, just don’t have any ideas for a video 😅
Damn it Jeff. How are you not on 1m subs
Hey Jeff, This1sSeth.
I took apart my entire switch to put it into new housing, and I found that I had the same issue with the LCD panel... at first. The ribbon connector on the motherboard needs the have the contact points all the way in, and I found it was really finicky to do so. I suggest using two sets of pliers to pull the ribbon cable into the connector with equal amount of force, it’s what solved my issue for the display turning on. Also, I had two stripped screws which I just bore the heads off of with a screw extractor kit to get the old ones out and put new rails in. I have a *slight problem of my digitizer not working but otherwise that’s how I got my switch to be fully functional; hope this helps! Great video and I can’t wait to see part 2!
Thank you for letting me know about this info! Big help for sure. 🤗
Yes!!! I've been waiting for this video!!
Dammit Jeff! The screw stripped!
Never in a million years did I ever think it would happen to me 😭
The video turned out great!
waiting for that part 2
did you manage to fix it?
Where's part 2 my dude? I'm in the middle of my own damaged switch resto ! Dammit Jeff I need an ending!
Thank you so much much for making videos!
Love the vids bro
"50 dollars emotional damaged Nintendo switch, can i fix it?"
Dis would be a good vid title i think lol
8:25 "Now the Switch is nothing but a hollowed out, empty version of what it once used to be -- I can relate to that." 💀 you and me both, Jeff
I feel like some chill Jazz Music in the background would perfect these videos
Was there ever an update or a part two?? If not would love to see one
Same!
Good job man, I now feel that If something happens to my switch, I can simply repair it
Wake up babe new Dammit Jeff dropped
Dammen Jeff you do a great work
Maybe the best solution was to buy some polishing cloth and paste and polish the scratches on the old screen?
It may take a while but I've done it with my old apple watch and the result was amazing)
The issue is, nintendo switch screens are made out of plastic, not glass. Any fine polishing compound would have literally melted the screen 😭
Jeff the builder can he fix it? YES!
Yo I wish this guy can clean my Nintendo and that red mario case looks so cool I really want that the guy is so lucky that he fixed his Nintendo
Idk if this always rings true, but for stripped screws, sometimes WD-40 sets it straight. And as a child I was prone to breaking a lot of my devices and when I got old enough to know that I liked the stuff I was breaking I tried repairing them, so I would often come across stripped screws. I want to say about anywhere between 4-7 years ago, I decided to use WD-40 to loosen screws that have been stripped.
I really like the banana bread flavored cartridge Mario Maker 2😁
were still waitng btw!
Macbooks: %$@`%"&'%AXGCHIDAVTHODTFDI **Dies**
iPhones: heh, we don't care. I am not allergic to water.
i had the same issue with the backlight only on, i accidentally bent a pin on the screen connector, i bend it back and now its working!
The relief when the rail was fixed 😂
If you strip a screw, get out your dremel with the smallest grinding disk you can find. Grind a little slot into the top of the screw and voila, easily removable with a flathead screwdriver
I need the second part
which bit did you use to take off the back panel , and what can you use to remove stripped screws
Can’t ever say no to that “mystery food flavor” breath of the wild
Awesome video
deserves more subs
Man this guy can fix anything it seems like. Wanna take a look at my laptop? Computer dude in my town said the motherboard is fried but I think she's fixable.
damn these vids are so relaxing🔥🔥🔥
i know this is 23 years ago but i wanna see part 2 xD
Please let me know if at the start of the video the left joy-cons LEDS were working because I had this exact problem (water damage) but everything worked except the left joy-con
You make me like watching sponsors
Btw this a question but lets say as an example i want animal crossing for my nintendo switch would it also work on an oled and on an normal one?
I think you might have damaged the ribbon cable connector, its easy to do and switch comes on like you said but nothing shows up.
This guy is amazing
So u never fixed it??
Not switches but I've replaced my phone screen a few times ordering the screens on Amazon...3 times the screen arrived faulty 1 was the same as yours and i found that there were 2 contact points on the screen that are supposed to be in permeant contact with eachother and on the original screen were taped together but on the new screen weren't tapes and was slightly bent, I taped them together and it worked, and on the other 2 it was a no touch issue and I found there was just a connection that was just simply not plugged in 😂 worth having a look when you get a faulty screen to see if there is just a simple fault like that on it
@dammitjeff you have part link ?
nintendo
hire this person
Might be that the polarization filter isn’t alligned correctly on the lcd.
Do you have a link for the toolkit that you're using
Where did you buy all the replacement parts like rail/digitizer etc?
He usually gets his stuff off Amazon.
Hey can you fix my brothers switch charger input because when he puts his charger it does not charge so how much you want to fix it
Still waiting for part 2
I think I'm gonna take mine apart and clean it with compressed air and isopropyl alcohol since it doesn't look too complicating
