Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a game about destruction, deception, and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus masquerading as a human, as he goes about his life. Octodad's existence is a constant struggle, as he must master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan nature a secret from his human family.
In this sequel to the splash hit Octodad, our cephaloprotagonist has gotten himself in a bind between his wife’s mounting mistrust, and a disastrous trip to the local aquarium! Are you dad enough to control the titular octopus father as he strives to hide his nautical nature from his family while keeping his tangled tentacles intact?
In Octo-ber 2010, a group of university students released the original Octodad into the world. Despite everyone being convinced that the game was about a normal human dad, the game was a cult hit, gained critical acclaim, and was an Independent Games Festival Student Finalist in 2011. Octodad received enough attention that the team decided to run a Kickstarter, form the game studio Young Horses, and create a bigger, better, more polished game about Octodad. Two and a half years after beginning production, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is ready to flop awkwardly into your arms.

Yeah they were adopted. At the end of the game, they reveal that because he was an octopus, he never really had a chance to meet with the Mom. They never really said it, but they do make a joke questioning where did the children come from? If he was able to mate that woman and give us some sort of human DNA to make them children, then the developers would really have to explain that.

I love how this guy refuses to learn anything about the games he plays. He’s just quickly talking as he runs through a hellscape he doesn’t understand. I imagine this is what a horse’s inner monologue is like.

This is so weird but this channel has seriously helped me with my anxiety. Every time I get panic attacks watching you speed run and explain it helps me calm down and makes me feel a lot better!
Stryder7x does some neat Paper Mario glitch videos, and Malleo does tool assisted speedruns of the sequel with explanations. All their videos are fairly long and easy to listen to. Very good distraction material.

There's something so funny about a character like octodad just chillin in the structure with a timer. The timer implies speed, but octodad letting his fish drip radiate outward and blind everyone in the room, does not.

Here is my theory. Octodad is a metaphor for father hood in general. The chaos and unpredictable movements represent the linear chaos of fatherhood and fact he doesn't want to be found out that he is a octopus is that fatherhood is stressful and you have to keep yourself as "Normal" as possible and deal with the stressed of it
