  • Watch the creative process at work as artist Wendy Sharpe completes a monumental wall mural during the installation of her exhibition 'Spellbound'.
Sharpe spent five days at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, priming the gallery walls with diaphanous grey washes before drawing and painting using brushes, rags and her fingers. A pair of colossal faces emerge from a rich and multilayered surface of colour and texture.
Sharpe is celebrated for her expressive works that observe and celebrate the human condition. This mural is just one fragment of the installation that makes up 'Spellbound', and which as a whole creates a complete artistic creation or 'gesamtkunstwerk' (a German word meaning ‘total work of art’).
    Filmed on Gadigal Country.
