Calling Corinne a villain is giving her way too much credit. She made less than a handful of strategic, evil moves, and every one of them was planned by someone else. The most villainous thing she did was that cruel goodbye she gave to Sugar. And that makes her a bully more than anything else.

Corinne's final speech making fun of Sugar's dead father, her unemployment (she was homeless), and mental health was hands down the most disgusting and pathetic reality TV moment I've ever seen. Corinne's a disgusting human. It's especially sad considering what happened with Sugar after the show had ended. I hope Corinne received the karma she deserved for her nasty behavior.
Sugar is one of my favorite players unironically and I will always say it. She played the most fascinating games I have seen, seemingly fell ass backwards into the final while in reality being the center of every vote, and effectively hands the win over to who she thought was deserving. U may not have liked it but she really did play the game and decided who won. I have never seen another player do this and seem like they arnt capable of anything.
She is definitely smart, her confessionals show that. If she was a little bit less emotional and made some good decisions at the end she definitely could have won (bringing Susie and Ken to the end probably). It was noble of her to honestly give up and let Bob win. SUPER interesting and unique character!
100% agree and I’m glad to finally find someone else who appreciates her gameplay. She was an incredibly strategic player yet everyone wrote her off as stupid, even after the season was over. But she was the driving force of the second half of the season and nearly every vote in that half. Probably one of the most underrated players ever in my own opinion
Right, she is singlehandedly what makes the season good in my opinion. She is the chaotic factor that was the swing on so many pivotal votes throughout the season, causing so many plot twists. The fact that she made it all the way to the end is crazy. Honestly if she had played like 15 seasons later and owned her game as an intentional strategy, I swear she could’ve won.
The fact that she went first, but Fang kept Crystal for so long is really the easiest way to describe to someone how much of a trainwreck the tribe was.
As baffling as the decisions made by Gabon contestants are, I would pay to hear their thought process for not voting her out first, and then not voting her out every subsequent elimination.

Most seasons of Survivor are a game. Gabon lives up to the true question that Survivor (supposedly) asks: "Can a bunch of strangers form a new society in the untamed wilderness?" In this case, the answer was a resounding "No." It is truly an epic season and belongs in the top ten. Not because anyone made some big game plays, not because anyone deserved to win, but because it actualized the founding idea of Survivor. That being a televised social experiment.
I would have loved to see Ulong vs Fang. It think Ulong would win. Please note that Ulong was a strong tribe. It is just that Koror was stronger. Ulong might perform well in other seasons

Randy is the hero imo, he was the best challenge performer multiple times, call out the idiocy of his tribe mate, and even tried to share cookies with a girl who hated him, and it all ended in his friend Bob stabbing him in the back. Fallen Hero story.

Survivor Gabon is literally a live action of Total Drama. It's so funny and entertainment. Kota tribe is better than Fang, unfortunate, second plot twist messed up Onion alliance's game.
Randy is one of the best challenge players EVER. He always played hard. He played smart. Like he said after the merge..."I will do everything to help us win...despite hating each of you." Randy had that dog in him.
Yes I think this one and Africa are so unique for their challenges. I think Africa the very first immunity challenge is one of my favourite challenges ever. Samburu, my favourite tribe won that one, but another one maybe episode 3 or 4 was pretty similar and I think Boran got that one

Unpopular opinion but I loved this season. It was so entertaining from start to finish, all the feuds, one-liners and horrible challenge performances made this season so memorable for me 😂
Crystal is a perfect example of a narcissist over estimating their skills and abilities. Then when called out on stuff, becomes, let’s hear it: unstable.
You know, I've never watched a full season of Survivor. I've only watched a couple of episodes here and there on TV. But Randy being a wedding videographer who hates weddings and Crystal being a literal Olympic gold medalist in track and field loosing a race to normal folks has convinced me otherwise.
My favorite singular moment of Fang idiocy is the whole "if someone cries, they must be mentally unstable," hot take. Its just so... perfect. Cuz theyre right that Crystal is a liability. But that take is so far from what the reality is. And that percectly sums up their issues

Despite Jeff Probst, CBS and the entire Production Crew hates Gabon, it's one of the best seasons of all time. It's just completely different from anything before or since then. I can talk hours about specific segments of this season which i found funny, entertaining or interesting.
Honestly I like the dramatic seasons. The seasons where there is little drama are usually boring unless the challenges are competitive enough to make up in excitement
I met the winner of Gabon, Bob, a few years back. He was our host at a Yurt we had rented via AirBnB. What an amazing and kind man! After we left, we binged this season and it made me so happy to see how even in all the craziness, he won in the right way.
Never talked to him like you, but I wouldn’t know if I can trust him for an airbnb. Like 4 of the cast members imply he was creepy to varying degrees - namely cuddling them during the night. He’d get told off but would later deny it. Idk… I’m glad your experience was good

I love how Jeff is usually really supportive and roots for the underdog during challenges sometimes, but in this season he just tells Fang to give up multiple times because of how much they suck.
When I first watched this season as a kid I thought Randy is just the WORST PERSON EVER but after watching this season again a few months ago, I actually love his brutal honesty and find him hilarious
That's how it goes with people who tell it like it is. You might hate them in the short term but long term you appreciate their honesty. The best manager I ever hired for my business was like that. My staff absolutely hated her in the beginning. She was just someone who spoke her mind and for some people it came off as abrasive. They'd come into my office and whine to me about her. Told them just give it some time. Eventually she was at least respected if not loved. I've had several managers since then and none of them have lived up to the bar she set. People who speak straight to the truth are rare in this world.

One of the things that's wild to me is how some consider Bob one of the weakest winners. I feel like if it had been one of the golden boys like Boston Rob who played a game like Bob's it'd be more celebrated by the community. Bob: Was a key part to a dominant pre merge tribe. 3 straight Individual Immunity victories, 2 of which were when he was on the block and at a 5-1 disadvantage in the game Was able to use his social game to manipulate another player when he was on the block in the final 4 to force a tie breaker that he then proceeded to win. The guy was on the outs the entire 2nd half the game but still pulled through to win the whole thing while only accruing 2 votes to his name the entire season. The guy played a damn good game especially considering his age

The physically strong members of the tribe did not have the mental capacity to lead. While the ones who had the mental aspect to lead did not have the physical strength to lead. They are like the perfect imperfection of a team ever on Survivor.
I'm glad I didn't watch this season at the time. The way they treated Sugar made me so mad. She was super cute and nice too, but they treated her like a pariah while hyping up Kelly as "super hot?!" They sent her to exile FOUR TIMES, but she felt BAD for them?!!!
I loved the stuff with the fake idol and it was cool when Jeff asked how Bob managed to make the fake and showed clips of him collecting all the materials
Crystal is the result of min/maxing your character stats for one highly specific niche, which is running, but only on flat, Olympics-quality, running tracks

I think Crystal failing at challenges was also because she’s used to simulated athletics. Running on a flat, paved track is not the same as running uphill on dirt. Like how Olympic archery doesn’t actually look the way hunting or battle archery did, it’s real world practicality versus simulated ideal environments.
I loved this season, it was the first I ever watched and I love how the Olympic medal "winner" is the most useless person, Randy is pure Chaotic evil, and my man Bob makes it to the final 3, the guy was so chill, so nice, and super smart.
Things I loved about how terrible this season is: - A final 3 of all goats, which I've never seen before, which is just hilarious. - Some great villain characters (I like Corinne and found Crystal and Randy hilarious) - Just how stupid people were in terms of strategy. A pagonging thwarted by idiocy. Look, I'll take comedic, fun, idiot-filled season like this over a depressing season (All Stars) or a boring season of no characters (Thailand) any day.

As inept as she might’ve been, Crystal was such an excellent character. The fact that she made it as far as she did is mind blowing! (When based on her challenge performances and the amount of tribemates she got into arguments with and not on her alliances, that is.) I just loved watching her burn everything down and would _love_ to see her return to see how she would play a second time! EDIT: Look, I get it, what she did with using steroids was _not_ okay. However, I try not to judge people as I’ve never walked their path, in their shoes, with their brains and emotions. None of you have _any_ idea who/what was pressuring her to do the steroids. Was it her coach? Someone else with a lot of power over her? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m damn sure that none of y’all know the facts though. I certainly hope none of you are ever in a situation where you’re harshly judged for something by tons of people who are clueless when it comes to *any* of the details and her mental/emotional state, as well as the pressure(s) she was under. I’m sure you’ll just continue to be cut and dry/black and white judgmental assholes as that is *clearly* who you all are. Also, she wasn’t on steroids on Survivor, thus it should have *nothing* to do with her being brought back. She was a *fantastic* television character, which is an incredibly important detail. When I was showing my future wife Survivor, I knew I need to show you the messiest seasons there are so she would enjoy watching them. We started with Panama, but Gabon was the second one and she felt in love with it. What a great shipwreck season this one is and I just hope we get more seasons like this one in the future

This is, quite literally, the only season of Survivor I have ever watched fully. I don't like reality tv but my mom does. She watched this season as it aired and saw it peripherally for a few episodes before becoming insanely invested. Sugar was my favorite and my mom and I make jokes about the Sugar Shack still. The fake idol. The oldest winner in Survivor history. What a wild ride this was.

So I've only started Survivor this autumn. Upon starting in Borneo I was immediately hooked. Been binging like crazy. Funnily enough I just got to Gabon yesterday. China and Micronesia are some of the best, with fans vs favorites being my favorite. After heroes vs villains it doesn't feel the same anymore and becomes too self aware. So enjoy the first half of the show!

I don't get why Gabon is considered a terrible season, I loved it. It was extremely entertaining and Crystal and Kenny are still my favorite Survivor alliance to this day. Unpopular Opinion..Gabon is top 5 best Survivor seasons.
My first season was China. Then Micronesia and Gabon. I was lucky that my first three seasons were three of the most entertaining and memorable seasons, for very different reasons

The winner of the this season lived in my home town. He even spoke at my school. So that was all I remembered this season for and I mostly forgot about all of the chaos that happened this season.

Sugar is one of my favorite players unironically and I will always say it. She played the most fascinating games I have seen, seemingly fell ass backwards into the final while in reality being the center of every vote, and effectively hands the win over to who she thought was deserving. U may not have liked it but she really did play the game and decided who won. I have never seen another player do this and seem like they arnt capable of anything.
She is definitely smart, her confessionals show that. If she was a little bit less emotional and made some good decisions at the end she definitely could have won (bringing Susie and Ken to the end probably). It was noble of her to honestly give up and let Bob win. SUPER interesting and unique character!

100% agree and I’m glad to finally find someone else who appreciates her gameplay. She was an incredibly strategic player yet everyone wrote her off as stupid, even after the season was over. But she was the driving force of the second half of the season and nearly every vote in that half. Probably one of the most underrated players ever in my own opinion
Right, she is singlehandedly what makes the season good in my opinion. She is the chaotic factor that was the swing on so many pivotal votes throughout the season, causing so many plot twists. The fact that she made it all the way to the end is crazy. Honestly if she had played like 15 seasons later and owned her game as an intentional strategy, I swear she could’ve won.
Michelle getting eliminated first got me so annoyed, and after that I was happy to watch the rest of the team get voted out
The votes for Michelle over Gillian was just the start of the trainwreck that kept us watching Gabon.
The fact that she went first, but Fang kept Crystal for so long is really the easiest way to describe to someone how much of a trainwreck the tribe was.
At least she was spared all the drama and bs that team had going on.

Most seasons of Survivor are a game. Gabon lives up to the true question that Survivor (supposedly) asks: "Can a bunch of strangers form a new society in the untamed wilderness?"
In this case, the answer was a resounding "No." It is truly an epic season and belongs in the top ten. Not because anyone made some big game plays, not because anyone deserved to win, but because it actualized the founding idea of Survivor. That being a televised social experiment.
Ulong is like a tragic shipwreck whereas Fang is like a trainwreck that never ends but you can't help but watch.
I would have loved to see Ulong vs Fang. It think Ulong would win. Please note that Ulong was a strong tribe. It is just that Koror was stronger. Ulong might perform well in other seasons

Yes I think this one and Africa are so unique for their challenges. I think Africa the very first immunity challenge is one of my favourite challenges ever. Samburu, my favourite tribe won that one, but another one maybe episode 3 or 4 was pretty similar and I think Boran got that one

I loved how Kenny was perfectly set up to have a growing up/ coming of age story, but instead heel-turned into the main antagonist.
Crystal is a perfect example of a narcissist over estimating their skills and abilities. Then when called out on stuff, becomes, let’s hear it: unstable.
Sugar got trolled so hard, them struggling like hell to do anything makes it all the more funnier that she's feeling guilty for eating all that food 😂
The way Randy seemed to actually enjoy being a cyclical guy, alone, made for an outstanding season.
You know, I've never watched a full season of Survivor. I've only watched a couple of episodes here and there on TV. But Randy being a wedding videographer who hates weddings and Crystal being a literal Olympic gold medalist in track and field loosing a race to normal folks has convinced me otherwise.
Fun fact: Randy is a substitute teacher now, my cousin had him as a sub one day, she said he was chill. Shocker.

Despite Jeff Probst, CBS and the entire Production Crew hates Gabon, it's one of the best seasons of all time. It's just completely different from anything before or since then. I can talk hours about specific segments of this season which i found funny, entertaining or interesting.
Honestly I like the dramatic seasons. The seasons where there is little drama are usually boring unless the challenges are competitive enough to make up in excitement
I met the winner of Gabon, Bob, a few years back. He was our host at a Yurt we had rented via AirBnB. What an amazing and kind man! After we left, we binged this season and it made me so happy to see how even in all the craziness, he won in the right way.
Note: He used his prize money to build a collective of yurts in Maine. His Boy Scout demeanor was very true to who he actually is

I love how Jeff is usually really supportive and roots for the underdog during challenges sometimes, but in this season he just tells Fang to give up multiple times because of how much they suck.
When I first watched this season as a kid I thought Randy is just the WORST PERSON EVER but after watching this season again a few months ago, I actually love his brutal honesty and find him hilarious

That's how it goes with people who tell it like it is. You might hate them in the short term but long term you appreciate their honesty. The best manager I ever hired for my business was like that. My staff absolutely hated her in the beginning. She was just someone who spoke her mind and for some people it came off as abrasive. They'd come into my office and whine to me about her. Told them just give it some time. Eventually she was at least respected if not loved. I've had several managers since then and none of them have lived up to the bar she set. People who speak straight to the truth are rare in this world.
I find Randy to have an extremely middleschool sense of humor. The whole "I crabby" because I see the world how it truly is" is luckily a trait most grow out of

One of the things that's wild to me is how some consider Bob one of the weakest winners. I feel like if it had been one of the golden boys like Boston Rob who played a game like Bob's it'd be more celebrated by the community.

3 straight Individual Immunity victories, 2 of which were when he was on the block and at a 5-1 disadvantage in the game
Was able to use his social game to manipulate another player when he was on the block in the final 4 to force a tie breaker that he then proceeded to win.
The guy was on the outs the entire 2nd half the game but still pulled through to win the whole thing while only accruing 2 votes to his name the entire season.
The guy played a damn good game especially considering his age

The physically strong members of the tribe did not have the mental capacity to lead. While the ones who had the mental aspect to lead did not have the physical strength to lead. They are like the perfect imperfection of a team ever on Survivor.

I think Crystal failing at challenges was also because she’s used to simulated athletics. Running on a flat, paved track is not the same as running uphill on dirt. My wife and I LOVED Bob and apparently so did the st home audience in general, and no one in that cast wanted to be in the finals with him except Sugar showing they all thought he would win. Not sure how he counts as a goat.
As inept as she might’ve been, Crystal was such an excellent character. The fact that she made it as far as she did is mind blowing! (When based on her challenge performances and the amount of tribemates she got into arguments with and not on her alliances, that is.) I just loved watching her burn everything down and would _love_ to see her return to see how she would play a second time!
EDIT: Look, I get it, what she did with using steroids was _not_ okay. However, I try not to judge people as I’ve never walked their path, in their shoes, with their brains and emotions. None of you have _any_ idea who/what was pressuring her to do the steroids. Was it her coach? Someone else with a lot of power over her? Maybe. Maybe not. I’m damn sure that none of y’all know the facts though. I certainly hope none of you are ever in a situation where you’re harshly judged for something by tons of people who are clueless when it comes to *any* of the details and her mental/emotional state, as well as the pressure(s) she was under. I’m sure you’ll just continue to be cut and dry/black and white judgmental assholes as that is *clearly* who you all are.

When I was showing my future wife Survivor, I knew I need to show you the messiest seasons there are so she would enjoy watching them. We started with Panama, but Gabon was the second one and she felt in love with it. What a great shipwreck season this one is and I just hope we get more seasons like this one in the future

This is, quite literally, the only season of Survivor I have ever watched fully. I don't like reality tv but my mom does. She watched this season as it aired and saw it peripherally for a few episodes before becoming insanely invested. Sugar was my favorite and my mom and I make jokes about the Sugar Shack still. The fake idol. The oldest winner in Survivor history. What a wild ride this was.

China and Micronesia are some of the best, with fans vs favorites being my favorite. After heroes vs villains it doesn't feel the same anymore and becomes too self aware. So enjoy the first half of the show!

This season is a mess but still one of the best, I love the location and there is a lot of character that make people enjoy so much ! Corinne, Matty, Randy, even Ace, Crystal, Kenny and Queen Sugar !
I don't get why Gabon is considered a terrible season, I loved it. It was extremely entertaining and Crystal and Kenny are still my favorite Survivor alliance to this day. Unpopular Opinion..Gabon is top 5 best Survivor seasons.
Its a love or hate season. If you don't find the cast entertaining it's miserable. But if you enjoy the chaos and trainwreck it's amazing
My first season was China. Then Micronesia and Gabon. I was lucky that my first three seasons were three of the most entertaining and memorable seasons, for very different reasons
Why would you not start on season 1 that kinda makes no sense. Like how can u watch Micronesia And Hero’s vs villains when you don’t know any of the people?
You know it's gonna be rough when the most rational and consistently hard working player gets voted off for calling out their teammates for being bad
its also so funny because in the middle of it is one of the greatest players to ever touch a melee setup

The winner of the this season lived in my home town. He even spoke at my school. So that was all I remembered this season for and I mostly forgot about all of the chaos that happened this season.
We saw online that this season was rated really badly but we decided to watch it anyway. The whole time I waited for the moment that would show me why, and up until the very end, I still didn’t understand why. I loved the season, it’s one of my favorites!
