Hassan RAHIMI helped Iran get out to an early 1-0 lead with his one-point win over USA’s Tony RAMOS in the finals of the 2015 World Cup in Los Angeles.
The turning point of the 57kg matchup came in the second frame, when Rahimi and Ramos traded two exposure points. After the action was blown dead, the Iranian world champ led 4-3 on the scoreboard. But Ramos questioned Rahimi’s exposure points and challenged the call. The call was ultimately upheld, giving Rahimi the 5-3 advantage.
With one minute left, Rahimi conceded a caution-and-one, cutting his lead to 5-4. Then, with less than 30 second remaining in the bout, Rahimi jacked up double underhooks and drove Ramos out for the one point. He won the bout and kick-started Iran’s eventual 5-3 over the United States. Here are the final results:
    IRAN 5, UNITED STATES 3
57 kg - Hassan RAHIMI (IRI) df. Tony RAMOS (USA), 6-5

Iranian athletes are very gentle spirited and humble. Ramos really pushed the boundaries and was being extremely disrespectful.
Wrestling is an honourable sport. It installs courage, pride and integrity in the athlete. Maybe Ramos needs to pay more attention to his coaches.

Well, I am certain you know that when US westlers visit Iran, people treat them like celebrities. Ask Burroughs about it, even when he defeats Iranian wrestlers in Iran, he receives tremendous applause. This is because they appreciate his skills. It would be unthinkable to assume Iranian wrestlers would receive the same treatment in US. Point is case, at the end of this match, when Rahimi was booed for his objection to the mistake on scoreboard (5-5 instead of 6 - 5 in his favor). Obviously all US fans knew the score was 6-5. Why is that they booed him? Is winning at all cost all they understand, even by mistakes and/or cheating? Is this what sports are all about???

Us is a country like no other country in the history of mankind. They have the best and worst of everything. Just think about how many Nobel prize winners they have produced; yet, almost half of the population is vying for Trump presidency. It seems they have not learned their lesson when they elected Jorge W. Bush.

I liked Hassan Rahimi's attitude a lot. On one hand he was polite enough, early in the match that when his finger hit Ramos's eyes he apologized ever sincerely, but at the end, when he noticed the problem with the scoreboard, before his coach noticed, he was sharp, decisive and assertive to get his rightful points back. I like such balance in an athlete and individual; skillful, fair, yet not taking BS from anybody ....hope he becomes Olympic champ in Rio 2016

No he was separating the refs hands because the scoreboard was wrong, and if the ref raises the wrong wrestler's hand that can't be undone or challenged. Ramos was a total dirty, cheating bastard, and the ref was completely against the Iranian. He should have penalized Ramos a number of times, (like twisting the Iranian's face with no fingers on the jaw-- he knew the ref was on the other side and he quickly moved to the jaw-- when he thought he might be seen. etc). The other officials should have said something. It was was a rotten match. I'm glad the Iranian prevailed. I cheer decency.

      @AR-ml9eo Před 5 lety +16

Agreed. Because Ramos had been dirty, fingering him in the eye, and when the match was over he wouldn't release his clinch and then shoved the Iranian. Then they took away a point and that rightly pissed off the Iranian, even though he still would have won on criteria. The Iranian was sportsmanlike and apologized when he poked Ramos. Ramos is always a poor loser like many of the US wrestlers, like Dake, etc.(I say that as an American).

    • @theskywookie929
      @theskywookie929 Před 4 lety +1

@@AR-ml9eo Ramos just wrestled the way he had been taught as a Hawkeye - constant pressure, attacking, etc. I have no clue what you're on about with him being a poor loser, or even Dake for that matter. At this level, on this sort of stage, emotions will inevitably come free. Losing sucks, we all hate losing. Some people hate it so much that their hatred of losing is what drives them to win. Ramos isn't a dirty wrestler; Tony Ramos, like Brent Metcalf and a lot of other Iowa guys, just make each and every match a war, whether they win or lose. If they lose, they want their opponent to earn it. Lol

Hassan Rahimi is one of our Greatest Wrestlers but have your eyes set on our rising star , the young Hassan Yazdani .
he has climbed to 74 KG so i would LOOOVE to watch him wrestle Jordan Burroughs .

at 5:45 they give 1 point out of nowhere to the american u can see it on score sheet without even refree calling it in order to make the american win se before the refree raise the hand of the Us wrestler up (which then everything is finished) the Iranian wrestler notices it and ask for objection.

A couple of times during his tournament the point schedule was manipulated in advance of USA team against IRAN team . I hope that was a mistake, but I think it's done deliberately, and if so, it's against of the spirit of sport .BIG TIME

NO HE WON 6-5 AND YOU REFEREES WERE CORRUPT .
just look at Rahimi's face in the end ,swollen and bruised around the eyes .
if any Iranian wrestler would do such a thing he needs to explain it in national tv soon.
but the american wrestlers do ANYTHING just to win , you know why/?
because this is the only one way they can make a good living in the US , just by fame in American Society where carving your name is the ultimate Goal for a man Like their Greek Legends .
but did you know our wrestlers don't get paid anything good in national camps but they still win and are each world champions with best of character .
The US has held the games in one stadium 3 time in a row despite keeping losing at home to one nation Because :
1-Freeestyle Wrestling is our Traditional number one Sport in our History and we ave introduced it to the world therefore hosting this great Event WITH THE RIVALRY AGAINST IRAN IS GREAT MEDIA AND SOCIAL ATTENTION FOR THE SPORT IN THE US .
so i see this as a wise attempt to help their wrestling to gain National attention and pride from people and this is the key to success in the US for any sport .remember in the Us , one football and Baseball were famous ,and Soccer was invested on so much that has become a fairly important sport as a result of so much effort and hard work and Spending money and management and everything .
freestyle wrestling in the US had received a huge opportunity which is creating a national great rivalry and every year bringing the Iranian Americans who know how to cheer for their Warrior and teaching it to Americans and making it a Hot Event while it was not popular like this in the US .
2-we are only people who know how to present a global wrestling event and turn it into an American famous Sport in the US which any Sports would love to become as popular as Baseball and FOOTBALL ,even the special cheering for great warriors and Champions .
3-the American Wrestlers have turned upside down in the last 3 years because of 5 years of losing against Iran and 3 times at home so Wrestling with Iranians have brought the Warrior they are today out of them but unfortunately they don't learn the Morality Part from us ..
go back and watch 2013 in Iran , you will see many American Wrestlers who are still in the national team like jake warner , Coleman Scott , Brent Metcalf ,and more , compare their wrestling with the today . they are far better, Quicker and they are getting so closer to iran .maybe next year they can win.
but one thing they wont learn is humility and the Humane side of this Traditional Sport which Still Produces Great Champions with great power and true humble character not fake .but truly a Champion .
and as iran grows and Us grows the more Dirty judges and Juries pop up around the world against iranian wrestlers .
so much that one of our Greatest champions (Saeed Abdvali -Greco Roman ) who is famous for being victims of such set ups in the Olympics and in Korea 2014 he finished the Korean Olympic Gold Medalist in less that a minuet and after 16 pionts him pinned him down .the referee came to raise their hands ,there were no question.
but they gave him zero and 4 pionts to the korean and said they had to continue and he lost 6 to 3 i guess .
there has began a global enmity against Iranian Wrestling .
they even know which countries have historical problems with iran and make them win against us .
    its unbelievable .
but still we are the champion and there are always good and honest referees there and God is the best referee and will protect the righteous .

You are completely correct about the corrupt officiating against Iran. They did the same thing to Cuba in the Olympics. Countries or teams make secret deals under the table to screw other countries that they assume can do nothing about it. So the Russians even make deals under the table with US to steal medals. International sports has always been corrupt. The Iranian wrestlers are very honorable and good sportsmen. By the way I am American.

Iran obviously has a great wrestling history and program but as someone who knows a little about coaching I dont understand how the wrestler is constaly being side coached and yelled at by 2 coaches during the match itself ? calling out his name every 5 second...?
This kind of coaching is ineffective and only distracts and pressures the wretler in the heat of the match ....its also very annoying ....
I hope the coaches or whoever is doing it is instructd to simmer down during the match itself or offer a good counter explanation.

Ignorant comment ^ What do you expect from a country with millions of people in it like the US? Iran is only a fraction of the size of the US and I'm very impressed by their performance in wrestling. The US's wrestling team is NOTHING compared to Iran's. This is coming from an American. I'm proud of the US's medals but come on be real...w/ that many people...it's EXPECTED. Don't be an idiot putting other countries down. Quality>quantity.

Also, I already proved my point that the US, with its vast majority, is EXPECTED to be better than most countries. Any country with a big population can fucking win some medals, but it means nothing. Conclusion: You're just another idiot who lives in the us.

Kos Sepand,, according to your stupid logic India should have a lot more medals than USA based on population. Iran has 90 million people that is A LOT of people more than almost any EU country yet only won 3 medals. Bull shit argument. You are one trick pony. Wrestling ,, that is all you got.
