Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Drum Smoker Wheel Modification

- Good afternoon! Here is a list of the parts I used to make this wheel modification to my Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Drum smoker. I live in an apartment complex and the steel wheels that came with it are very loud. I had bought these wheels for my Pit Boss pellet smoker, but they were just too big so I decided to keep them in case I needed them later . These are almost exactly the same size as the steel wheels that came with this smoker. It's not perfect, but it'll work just fine for me. I hope you enjoy the video, and I hope it helps.

That spacer is about 1/2" short on my HF wheel.
I just today bought an OK Joe's pellet smoker and immediately had concerns about the steel wheels. I have a textured concrete deck and at 150+ pounds I could visualize those steel wheels chewing it up. Every other grill I've ever owned had some sort of rubber or plastic wheels. I suppose it's a cost savings but I'm undoing that. Thanks for the tips.
Update. Plan A was to put on the pneumatic tires as shown. My Lowes didn't have the axel upsize sleeves in the right size. So I went with plan B. I bought a roll of Gorilla brand duct tape in black, I did two wraps of the steel wheels. We will see. Duct tape is not fond of the sun. But they say Gorilla Duct Tape is UV and water resistant. I only have to move the grill about 2 feet from where it's parked under an overhang and in a cover to where I grill. If I have to replace the duct tape once a year, I'm good. Handyman's secret weapon.
@@ishepperd sorry I'm just seeing this Ivan! I'm not sure if you can order those sleeves online or not. The duct tape should do the trick for a while for sure. I love the look of the steel wheels but when I'm rolling across concrete I might as well let the whole neighborhood know I'm coming lol
The rubber wheels won't be affected by the heat? Hopefully they are far enough away. How do you like the Bronco so far?
Steve, they haven't been affected yet. I replaced the wheels before I even used it. I did a pretty lengthy burnoff at 400+ degrees and several cooks since then. I think with how well the Bronco is insulated and the wheels being spaced out the way they are it's fine. So far, I like it Alot but it does have a couple of quirks. I am not sure the gauge is very accurate. During the burnoff it seemed fine but now my digital thermometer is giving me a different temp and sometimes it's a significant difference. I'm probably going to calibrate it this weekend to see if that helps before maybe just replacing it. I also wish it had a slightly larger charcoal basket for longer cooks. That's an easy fix though. All in all I think you would enjoy this smoker. Thank you for watching!
i seen both your videos.. i ordered a bronco yesterday and now im wondering if OJ and CB permenantly fixed your intake issue or if im going to have to get those parts too.. ugh
Joshua, from what I can tell this is still an issue with OKJ Broncos. My recommendation would be to join the Facebook group and ask some of the people on there who recent purchased it.
