    Archspire is becoming the future of the modern Technical Death Metal scene. They are able to mix technicity, modernity and classicity (as in Remote Tumor Seeker where you can hear riffs resembling Mozart's confutatis maledictis) and the result is impressive. I am very pleased that you have made a video about these talented Canadians.

    • @icipher6730
      @icipher6730 Před 6 lety +9

      Agreed. They are incredibly technical, melodic and fun to listen to. They even managed to top 'The Lucid Collective' with this release.

    • @DTfan43
      @DTfan43 Před 6 lety +3

      It doesn't just resemble Mozart's confutatis that IS Mozart's confutatis from his Requiem and it was beautifully placed in Remote Tumour Seeker. Best part of the album to me lol.

      The vocals are kinda new too. It's like the ultra fast gibberish nonsense vocals you typically find in grindcore but done with death metal vocals instead of screaming.

      Personally I think my favorite in the tech/death scene is Psycroptic. It’s not just about face melting speed, but also very unique riffs, some more moody sections of their songs. Overall they’re my tops

    Metal is such an interesting category of music that even the hardest of hardcore metal fans can't always fathom all the subgenres, new sounds and special talent that's out there waiting to be spotted. I always see other people's point of views why they don't enjoy or listen to a genre or band for any reason they desire. But you can't walk around with a stick up your ass pretending that there isn't talent in a band that you dislike. People hate on the vocalist because of the speed. I understand. But the work that man does to have such a huge diaphragm just to do this is nuts. He basically hits every instrumental note with his breath... In a tech death band... Also I love how much work he puts in the lyrics. Most albums nowadays are concept albums in the metal World. You like to have a decent amount of songs to get your point out. He basically puts a short story's worth of lyrics into every song. 7 songs on one album is all you need with this band to feel full and satisfied. Drummer is nuts, too. But I know better drummers. Guitars and bass are tight and they're so technical in the best way. It forms a great sounding song. It's not just technical for the sake of being technical.

  • @Jorgetime
    @Jorgetime Před 6 lety +23

    The album is great, a lot of fast stuff but still very melodic parts too

  • @MoonJellyGames
    @MoonJellyGames Před 6 lety +5

    I'm not normally into this kind of metal, but something about Archspire just works for me. It's so fast that it's kind of funny, but technically mind-blowing, and somehow catchy (sometimes it takes a couple of listens) at the same time. I haven't listened to the new album too much yet as I wasn't totally in the mood for it when it released, but the album that came before it "The Lucid Collective" very quickly became one of my favourite listens for when I need something fast and heavy.

      Can you really call any song on this album weak?? This band may be as close to perfect as any death metal band I've ever heard, in my opinion of course. I've been listening to death metal since I was 6, thanks to ace ventura and cannibal corpse, and then these guys are just so different. They write so god damn well. The atmospheric shit and then blazing ass speed on point. Perfect. I fucking love these guys.

    I highly recommend you these bands/songs here; some without videos, but you could find them interesting, others have videos, so feel free to take these as a hint for reaction vids ;)
    >Videos available:
    -First Fragment - Le Serment De Tsion
    -Cattle Decapitation - Kingdom of Tyrants
    -Origin - Portal, The Aftermath or Ininitesimal to the Infinite
    -Schammasch - Golden Light, Metanoia
    -Nile - Permitting the Noble Dead(...), Execration Text
    >No videos available, but highly recommended for a private listen:
    -Necrophagist - Fermented Offal Discharge (amazing solo especially, but songwriting too, the band overall rules and the solos are all incredibly well composed)
    -Ulcerate (Perhaps strange to get into at first, dissonant, but an insanely good band with incredibly good and sometimes even somewhat emotional riffs (There Are No Saviours, Extinguished Light etc.) - best start with the Shrines of Paralysis album as it's their most cohesive composition imo.)
    -Abyssal; the whole Antikatastaseis album (private listen; somewhat dissonant and weird at first, but packing some super eerily-beautiful melodies between the layers of distorted guitars)

    4:07 - 4:17 HAHAHA, I do that shit all the time when I'm in public when their songs play.
    One time I did this while going through county recorders office (deed searching) and had one of the city council members came running to help me with a seizure. Told her I was ok and just listening to music. I let her hear it and then she started doing it to.

    Spencer Prewett is not human!!!! He is a drum machine!!! Have seen them a couple of times and it's just impressive to see them play at such speeds, with such precision and won't even go into the lyrics, there's no way I can even attempt to sing one of their songs, maybe if they had a "ballad"!!! This album is the best so far and if you've never seen them play, just go the next time they are around! They are all a bunch of cool guys off the stage as well, make sure to stop by and say hi, buy some merch, bands like this we need to support and keep on the road!

    Nathan Explosion vibes for sure, i do like Brendon Smalls vocals on all the Dethklok stuff (and on Galaktikon aswell) so seing someone else using that style and taking it further is just awesome to me. Also the sheer technical skill of all the instrumantalists just blows my mind, especially the super fast bass runs (often playing the exact same superfast riffs as the guitars BUT ON A BASS. Now anyone who ever held a bass and tried to play some guitar stuff on it knows how incredibly difficult that is!)

    Dude I enjoyed the review. You have to go search for videos of the lead singer talking about his vocal process and then singing along with the songs. Amazing to me. There's several of those videos on CZcams. Also check them out live. There are some up in Montreal in fact (I live about as far away from Canada as you can get in North America, central Georgia. Shit bands around here mostly. Nothing like archspire at all or anything else remotely cool for that matter) that are recorded extremely well and really do them justice if you ask me. I'm just too damn worn out from work to find those links right now man, I'm sorry dude. They aren't hard to find though. I think after listening to a good deal of their music that they are actually underrated even musically. Their drummer is an absolute madman. Both of their previous 2 albums are just insanely awesome also.
