Lighthouse Seascape Sunrise Painting With Surfing Waves

- This painting got its influence from several images that I pieced together both digitally and in my mind. You are welcome to use my starting sketch to create something for yourself. You can either divide your space up by 3 like I did on my canvas and sketch by eye, or print it out and trace it onto your board, canvas, or paper.
I decided to divide the canvas up by three just to make sure I could control the placement of the lighthouse, surfing waves, rocks, horizon, etc... and especially since most of the painting was going to be made up - I knew there might be a big chance the entire thing would start to look really wonky if I wasn't careful.
The painting will be hung in my little boys' room and I happen to have an over-the-top frame to put it in, maybe I'll show you in the next episode what it looks like hanging in the room. My sister said it would look good in a beach-wood frame, which I think is a great idea in the future.
The end result reminded me of a scene from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” one of my favorite movies.
I finished the painting off with glossy medium varnish mixed with gold, but I didn't film it because I know it's difficult to see on screen.
Overall, I really had a great time and enjoyed feeling fully immersed in this project. I appreciate the push and encouragement to create.

Here is the list of paint colors I worked with, if you have any questions about the mixing, please feel free to ask in the comments below!
Raw Sienna, Phthalocyanine Blue, Raw Umber, Cadmium Red, Titanium White, Cerulean Blue, Bright Aqua Green, Payne's Gray, Mars Black, Sap Green, Deep Violet

AWESOME!!!👍👍😀
This is certainly one of your best pieces IMO! I love the way you layered the clouds in the sky and how you painted the waves! Also the lighthouse itself the details are brilliant Nat! You have some really high quality talent! I know what scene in "The Little Mermaid" you are talking about lol! I watched it with my daughters when it came out back in the day and I loved it too. 😊
Thank you thank you! Means a lot coming from a great artist like you! I love the little 🧜♀️ mermaid 😄, especially when she got to experience the human world. Thank you for your kind words 💕💫
@@NatPaintThat No thank you Nat! Your the great artist not me. But thank you so much for your very kind words and God bless!
Well now, you know I love this! Is this the Maine famous Lighthouse?...asks this Canadian.🙂🇨🇦
Valerie Thornhill I think it is. Portland Head Maine Lighthouse? Is that the one you talked about?
Clark...I have seen this Lighthouse many times. I actually have a wooden build -your- own kit that I painted myself, hanging in my kitchen...I took some artistic license and changed it up a bit...(eg adding an iceberg.)
While I was 99.9% sure it was Maine, I didn't know where in Maine. Thank you kindly!
Yes! New Portland 🤗 I have never been there in person, it was one of the little statues I found in that collector’s box. I saw a picture of it too and fell in love with it, really a magnificent-looking lighthouse. I love the cute little white and red buildings next to it.
Thank you for your kind words and for pushing me to paint Valerie! 🌊💕💕
This is very pretty! I love light houses:(!
Thank you friend! 🥰
beautiful work Nat! Just found your channel- you are a talented painter! I'm working on a lighthouse painting right now as well :)
Thank you! 🥰 That is so cool! I’ll go check out your channel now!
Good Job! It's my favorite painting you've done except for the Texas Bluebonnet one you did years ago.
Oh! I want to do another take on the Texas Bluebonnets! 🦋 maybe soonish?
Nat Paint That that would be awesome!
Wow! This painting is probably the best painting you’ve made on this channel! The sky looks absolutely gorgeous! The waves and rocks speak so much! The lighthouse is so detailed! Wow! Absolutely love this one! Can’t wait to see you do more paintings in the future! I’m just a student right now.. I hope I can produce some excellent art like yours soon! You’re a great artist! Stay happy and keep painting!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That is so sweet, thank you Meenakhi! This one definitely pushed me and took much more time than the others, but it was worth it! I learned that a painting like this is really just like 4-6 small paintings pushed together when you break it up. It makes the idea of doing another one this size less scary when I think of it that way. Thank you for your encouragement! 🌊💜🌊
lovely how you described them on your paper Nat,harmony colors, totally beautiful.Talented beautiful artist and hey, becareful while you record this while you're driving🧐🤪😁🙈💙Pls, because I still wanna see more from you💙💙💙
😄😘😘😘 you are so sweet Lenny, thank you, I’ll be careful. You’re the best 🏆💫💜
WHAT!! This is so beautiful. Is this an actual place? Sky , wave , and light hose is all amazing.
Thank you! Yes, it is called the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine, USA. I changed the composition a bit though to add in some “surfing waves” 🌊 🏄♀️ thank you for your kind words! 🥰
You are truly talented. Cool video. ☺️ Liked and subscribed.
Thanks! Can you reply back again so I can find your channel? It doesn’t link it on CZcams studio on my phone, i don’t know why
Sure. I hope you can find it. I need subscribers. ☺️ I just started a channel but am having fun with it. I’ll have to watch some of your other videos soon. 👍
Very well done. I would like to live there. Haha I just watched The Lighthouse movie of Pattinson. It looked like a sad life but Id live there. I would love to take videos of my traditional art as well but dont know the setup yet. Yours is greatly presented and the painting is Lovely😍.
Thank you! I subscribed to your channel, you are so talented at digital art, wow! My set up is really simple, all you really need is a ring light and a camera. I am actually a photographer as well, so I happen to have a DSLR to use, but you can use even your cell phone. When I film the smaller paintings that are done on my table, i am just using my iPhone for those. The positioning of the ring light is important, I like to have it over my left shoulder to minimize shadows. I know there are much fancier ways and lighting, my set up is pretty basic and inexpensive really. Thanks for your comment and for subscribing! Looking forward to having another art friend!💫🌻
@@NatPaintThat Oooh going to buy me a ring light for sure now. Yeah I did use my phone but it looked like I was filming bigfoot. Maybe the ringlight will help for sure, it was to dark. Im more of a trad painter but not as good as you 🤗 Thanks for subscribing and looking forqard of more seascapes and landscapes. Im a richard schmid and mark boedges nut. Thats my ultimate dream😜
Bard Art so cool!

Amazing video! I started my channel in 2018 when I began learning to paint, so I could record my learning progress. I've been sketching my entire life, but only recently started painting. Would you like to do a collab?
Kiara that is so cool! Yeah, let me know how a collab works as I’ve never done one before. You can message me on Instagram: @nat.paint.that 💕
